APERITIF, LIQUEUR & DIGESTIF Behind the global brand of Sandalford Wines lies a rich and fascinating history. The genesis of our establishing Estate at Averna Amaro 11 Caversham in the Swan Valley coincided with both European settlement in the burgeoning colony of Perth, and the birth of Western Australia’s world-famous wine industry. Amaro Montenegro 11 Aperol 10 Queen Victoria granted John Septimus Roe, Western Australia’s first Surveyor General, 4,000 acres of land on the Baileys Irish Cream 10 riverbanks at West Swan in honor of his 57 years of service to the Empire. He named the property Sandalford after a priory in Berkshire, England - his original home. Campari 10 Chartreuse Green 15 Among J.S. Roe’s significant legacy was the setting aside of Kings Park and laying out the towns of Perth and Fremantle. Cinzano Rosso 10 The Roe family developed a second vineyard in Margaret River in 1970. Cointreau 11 In 1990, the Prendiville family took over the well-established Margaret River and Swan Valley operations. Disaronno Amaretto 11 Sandalford Wines, Swan Valley Wine Tourism offerings were established in 1998, with the opening of this Restaurant, as Licor 43 10 well as offering wine tastings and winery tours. Since then, nine function venues have been added to the Estate, which Mr Black Amaro 11 cater for all tourism, local and corporate visitors. Noilly Pratt Vermouth 10 Opal Nera Black Sambucca 12 In addition to this, since 2002, there have been more than 65 major concert events each catering for up to 16,000 people taking place here in the vineyard. Past acts have included Sting, Santana, Leonard Cohen, The Jacksons, Neil Diamond, Pernod Absinthe 17 Michael Bublé, Tom Jones, Cliff Richard, John Farnham and Mariah Carey. Since 1990 Sandalford Wines has been owned Pimms No1 Cup 11 by husband-and-wife team Peter and Debra Prendiville and their family, and they, along with Sandalford’s Management Strega 11 team and staff, warmly welcome you to the Estate. Villa Masa Limoncello 11 In 2019, the finesse and creativity of former Executive Chef Andrew Mann and our Kitchen brigade alongside our dedicated front of house team won Sandalford two significant accolades at the 2019 Savour Australia Hostplus Awards for Excellence: Best Tourism Restaurant and Best Restaurant within a Winery. We now embrace the culinary delights of Executive Chef Alan Spagnolo for our new gorgeous dining menu. The Sandalford Restaurant and Bar celebrates a marriage of modern Australian and contemporary European cuisine where the fulsome flavour of WA’s phenomenal seasonal produce is enhanced by hand-rolled pasta, wood-fired pizza and artisanal products. Our bustling, open kitchen creates delectable, healthy dishes destined to delight the most discerning diner, while the restaurant’s tranquil, leafy ambience issues an invitation to relax and indulge all the senses. Our new Estate Room was key in securing Sandalford the 2019 Brides Choice Award for Winery Wedding Venue and at the 2019 Perth Airport Western Australian Tourism Awards our Estate won two Gold, one Silver and a Hall of Fame award in the Best Tourism Winery category. At the 2019 Gold Plate Awards, Sandalford Restaurant won Restaurant within a Winery, Modern Australian Dining and was bestowed the Prix D’Honneur award for winning the Tourism Restaurant category for three consecutive years. These awards added to the list of more than 80 major state and national wine tourism prizes awarded to the business in the last 10 years, including Gold at the 2017 Australian Tourism Awards for Best Tourism Winery in this country. We strive to cater for all dietary requirements of our valued guests. Meals marked (N) contain nuts, meals marked (GF)/ (VG) are gluten free/vegetarian, meals marked with (VE/VOA) are vegan/vegan option available. • In the Time It Has Taken James Halliday to Compile His 26 Australian Wine
In the time it has taken James Halliday to compile his 26 Australian Wine Companions, the Chardonnay grape has emigrated to almost every hill and vale across our viticultural landscape. No other variety has adapted more successfully, from single barrel selections to vast commercial blends. No other inspires such singular focus in our winemakers to sharpen their craft. No other sends vignerons searching, with gold fever, for that next hill, or clone, or aspect. Chardonnay alone explores the breadth and personality of all Australian wine regions. In our tribute to James Halliday, the true patron of fine Australian wine, no other variety would do for this national wine competition. Organised by Wine Yarra Valley, the objective of the James Halliday Chardonnay Challenge is to affirm the quality of Australian Chardonnay and provide a catalyst for people to take a fresh look at this much-loved wine by providing an appropriate platform for the national search to recognize Australia’s finest chardonnay. A Welcome from the Committee Australian chardonnay has never been better. It is a great news story and one about which we should all be proud and excited. The level of support for the inaugural James Halliday Chardonnay Challenge has been overwhelming and we thank all of the exhibitors for getting behind it so enthusiastically. We thank James for his guidance and support in the design and execution of the competition and agreeing to be our patron. We were very lucky to be able to secure one of the most dynamic and talented groups of judges in Australia, literally from coast-to-coast, and thank them for volunteering their time, expertise and camaraderie.
