In Sy.no.26 of Keshavapuram village, Chintoor Mandal, East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Late Sri.P.Rangaiah Quartz Mine- Lessee of Quartz mine has obtained quarry lease vide proceedings no.245/M/2003, Dt.25.03.2009. It is proposed to conduct open cast Semi mechanized method for Mining of Quartz Mine with the production capacity of 37,021 T/annum within the lease period. The mining plan has been approved by Zonal Joint Director of Mines & Geology Hyderabad Vide his letter No. 2281/MP/2008/Hyd dated 02-07-2008. Capital cost proposed for the quarrying is Rs.40 lakhs. Mining Scheme was approved by the Deputy Director of Mines & Geology, Kakainada throughthe letter no. 746/MS-Qtz-RMV/2016, Dt.29.03.2016 1.1 Mining Technology It is proposed to mine Quartz from old working pit towards NW by developing one bench of 2m height and width of each year for three benches. To obtain the Quartz production, it is necessary to remove the side burden consisting of soil and schist. The side burden of Schist will be removed in 3m depth of both sides of Quartz vein will be removed. After this development the production of Quartz will be obtained Page No. 1 Sri.P.Rangaiah Quartz Mine Pre feasibility Report from three bottom benches. The side burden of Schist will be excavated by pocklane and Quartz will be excavated with the help of drilling and blasting. 1.2 Mine Location and its details The proposed site is falling East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh is depicted below (Fig.1.0) Fig.1.0 Location Map Page No. 2 Sri.P.Rangaiah Quartz Mine Pre feasibility Report The project locations and client details are summarized as follows Table 1.0 Project location and Mine details Description Details Name of the Project Late Sri.P.Rangaiah Quartz Mine Survey Number Sy.no.26 Latitude and longitude S.No. Latitude Longitude 1 170 45’ 17.9’’ N 810 31’ 13.7’’ E 2 170 45’ 15.0’’ N 810 31’ 16.2’’ E 3 170 45’ 18.8’’ N 810 31’ 20.8’’ E 4 170 45’ 20.7’’ N 810 31’ 16.2’’ E Name of village Keshavapuram village Mandal Chintoor District East Godavari State Andhra Pradesh Registered address Sri.P.Satyanarayana (Legal heir) S/o Late Sri.P.Rangaiah D.No.9-895, Tatigudem village Padmapuram Post Pinapaka Mandal Khammam District Production (T/annum) 37,021 Area of the Mine 0.874 Ha. The height of the mound varies from 10m from the general ground on eastern side low gradation is there to reach the ground at RL80m whereas the height unwarrantedly increases on western side of the applied area. The land is covered by exposures of schist, Schist, Sand stone and Quartzite, on western and Southern Part. The M.L area covered by vegetation of thorny and babul tress. The rain water flows downstream from the top of the reef towards Page No. 5 Sri.P.Rangaiah Quartz Mine Pre feasibility Report South and East direction in the form of seasonal stream to arrive at a pond outside the M.L area. The vegetation is seems to be thick at this places. The existing connecting road near 100m R.L bordering the area at Northern tip may be use of transportation. The rain water flows to downstream from the M.L area will reach the open tank situated 300 to 400m away from the area. By and large from the nature of Lithology it is surmised that the resistant rock gave rise to northern portion where the less resistant rock (Quartz) have resulted in the formation of the plains on eastern side with 1m to 1.5m thick soil cover that can sustain agriculture. There is forest area on western boundary of lease. 1.3.2 Local Geology The rock type of the area is constituted of schist with Pegmatite emplacements. The Quartz as part and parcel of this pattern is formed as a four parall veins with NW-SE strike direction. The Quartz is formed in between the two Granite- shale Schist pockets over a length of 130 lengths and to an average width of 20-25m. The Quartz mound is exposed at a height of about 12m along the strike direction. Even though the contact between the mineral and country rock (shale/Schist) is covered by the soil and float material the shale and Schist are seen at lower levels of the area. Red murram Soil cover- 0 - 0.5 (lower level) Semi glassy Quartz 1-25m Khodalite suite rock 25-30m The vein that is emplaced in this terrain strikes N-S and is seen over a length of 79m with an average width of about 20m. The quartz is exposed to a height of about 10m along the Strike direction. Even though the contact between the mineral and country rock is covered by the soil and float material the black soil can be seen at lower levels of the area. The Gneisses on both sides of the quartz vein have been removed by weathering and erosion. Thus it is seen the vein stands out prominently with little amount of side burden on both hanging and footwall sides. Quartz occurring in this area is of the milky white variety fine grained and appears pure white in color; Red murram soil with float covers the slopes of the area on southern side of the deposit with a thickness of more than 0.5m The Quartz vein appeared to be a fractured field emplaced with in gneiss. No other structural features like joints, folds, and lineament etc. with in an area. Existing Method of Mining: As already stated the quartz in this area is occurring as single vein striking NW-SE. On the surface the out crop width is seen to vary between 16m and 20m and the south side it crops out at 100m R.L and along the strike it extended to about 75m from east to south, At this point it is exposed on 100m R.L. The strike length is about 75m. The average width of the vein is 25m. The width of vein is 15m at bottom of the slope and 25m at elevated point of the Quartz vein. The general Quality of the Quartz is semi glassy in nature. Page No. 6 Sri.P.Rangaiah Quartz Mine Pre feasibility Report It is proposed to commence the Mining of Quartz vein from the NW side and proceed towards the SE or to be precise SSE at the point from where the mine will be started, no OB will be removed but side burden on both hanging and foot wall side of the vein will have to scrapped manually up to a depth of 2m. On both hanging and foot wall side of the vein open cast benching method will carry out mining with bench and width about 1.5m to 2m. In the opencast mining the lessee is intending to conduct blasting for loosening the insitu quartz, breaking the lumps into required size after chipping and dressing.

District Survey Report - 2018 1. Salient Features of East Godavari District East Godavari District which is one of the largest and the most populous district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, was successively ruled by Mauryas, Sathavahanas, Vishnu Kundins, Eastern Chalukyas, Cholas, Kakatiyas, Musunuri Chieftains, Kondaveeti Reddy Kings, Gajapathis, Kutubshahis and then by the British. It was under the Raj. On April 15, 1925, East Godavari District was formed as per G.O.No.502. East Godavari is the richest district of the state, in terms of GDP. It is both the cultural and tourist hub of the state. East Godavari is a district in Coastal Andhra region of Andhra Pradesh, India. Its district headquarters is at Kakinada. • Annual Report – 2008-2013
Foreword The preceding five years of our long journey from 1985 are very significant. In these five years the endeavors on tribal, village development and upliftment initiated by Agriculture and Social Development Society (ASDS) are vital. This document is an account of those efforts. Khammam is most backward district in Andhra Pradesh and the situation of tribal pockets in district doesn’t necessitate further elaborations. The organisation working for tribal and people’s development since long time, we consider the prior five years as most significant phase. The reasons for this are enormous internal and external factors. The external factors include wild spread of globalization, owing to the changes arised in political and economic policies are crucial. Impacting on nature and in the lives of minority, vulnerable tribal communities surviving on nature is immeasurable. Keeping in this view organisation, since five years has initiated new policies, programmes, activities with distinct perspectives. In this venture had paved success and also faced many new challenges. In fact the process of facing the challenge has given been a source to evolve future policies. And it’s an inspiration and nerve for us to proceed further with appropriate skills. The long standing struggle undertaken by we include concerns of human rights, prevention of exploitation of natural resources, tribal women identity, ensuring self respect, cultural protection are the key elements. For the welfare of tribal’s and sustainable agriculture, non timber forest produce, other livelihoods, health, child development, empowerment of tribal women are the key concerns for us in which we are continuously striving and strengthening and marching ahead, making efforts to bring changes in the government policies at the central level, placing efforts in designing the programmes.
