You like games? Me, too. Join me and experience games in Bavaria!

I am a passionate gamer, you know. I also like meeting people and creating something new with them. That is why I love my job as Project Manager Games at the business incubator WERK1 and as companion of Games/Bavaria, the umbrella brand of the Bavarian games industry. Thanks to my passion, I was able to gather great experience during the last years. At the trade fair gamescom, I had the opportunity to host the community booth of the Bavarian games industry with many Bavarian companies. I also helped organizing the fantastic community events GameCamp and Games/Bavaria Vernissage and was able to represent our business location at numerous other events. Robin Hartmann, Project Manager Games It is very rewarding to see events like these go smoothly and to initiate dialogues – WERK1, Games/Bavaria with students, founders or people working in the games industry. Some look to enter the industry, others want to learn more about the Bavarian scene and some try to boost their very own agendas or are eager to get in contact with like-minded people. All of this is possible here in Bavaria and is actively supported. Above all, by institutions such as the FFF Bayern, the MediaNetwork and the WERK1, by the local associations as well as our Ministry which proactively seeks the dialogue with our industry. We have put texts, pictures and a lot of thoughts into this product to provide a valuable tool to everyone interested and to answer their questions. The following pages contain useful and precise information: contact persons, contacts, descriptions of events, success stories, and a lot more. Pages 22 et seq. are rather plain, yet they might be the most important part. Here you can find the register of companies with a comprehensive over- Sincerely, view of Bavarian services, developers, and publishers, to let you know who to call. I am sure you want to experience and shape Bavaria’s vivid games community.

Implementing innovative Ideas with the help of modern technology and international cooperation: The hybrid game “Space Hawk” by the Munich-based publisher Ravensburger Digital is a good example for the success stories this concept brings forth.

Thomas Bleyer, CEO Ravensburger Digital, and his 20 employees operate from Munich-Pasing since 2010.

Nominations for the Innovation and Best Mobile Game Award at the German Developer Awards 2015 emphasizes the high quality of “Space Hawk”. Everybody is enthusiastic about this idea: A combination of a mobile game and a haptic toy to appeal to all of our senses. The core element is the versatile spaceship “Space Hawk”. By using the adventure application on their smartphones, players unleash a thrilling science fiction story. At Ravensburger Digital in Munich-Pasing, everything came together during the 18 months of development. CEO Thomas Bleyer: “We worked out the basic concept in-house. The mobile game was produced by Deck13 in Frankfurt, the production of the toys was taken care of by our sister company in Hong Kong. Our team had to coordinate the production of hardware and software and to bring everything together seamlessly: A great example of teamwork made in Bavaria.” „Space Hawk“ was published in October 2015 as the first product from Ravensburger Digitals’s new SNAPTOY line, which combines The idea behind „Space Hawk“: games apps with traditional toys Games app on the smartphone for hybrid adventures. plus a traditional toy equals fun for (almost) all of our senses.
