COUNTY COUNCIL (HARWELL AND VARIOUS PARISHES) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2021

The Oxfordshire County Council, in exercise of its powers under Sections 82, 83 and 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby make the following Order.

1. This Order may be cited as the Oxfordshire County Council (Harwell and Various Parishes) (Speed Limits) Order 2021 and shall come into force on the ninth day of August 2021 and variously includes the parishes of , , Blewbury, , Chilton, East and West Hagbourne, Harwell, and Upton.

2. The roads specified in Schedule 2 to this Order are restricted roads for the purposes of Section 81 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

3. No person shall drive any vehicle at a speed in excess of 20 miles per hour in any of the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to this Order.

4. No person shall drive any vehicle at a speed in excess of 30 miles per hour in any of the lengths of road specified in Schedule 2 to this Order.

5. No person shall drive any vehicle at a speed in excess of 40 miles per hour in any of the lengths of road specified in Schedule 3 to this Order.

6. No person shall drive any vehicle at a speed in excess of 50 miles per hour in any of the lengths of road specified in Schedule 4 to this Order.

7. No speed limit imposed by this Order applies to a vehicle falling within Regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011, being a vehicle used for naval, military or air force purposes, when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those regulations.

8. The Oxfordshire County Council (Harwell and Various Parishes) (Speed Limits) Order 2018 is hereby revoked/replaced

The whole length of every road in the village of Chilton extending (in the case of the respective roads leading out of the village) to the following points:

Dene Hollow to a point 140 metres southeast of its junction with Limetrees

Lower Road to a point 12 metres north of the centre of its junction with the Paddock

South Row to a point 45 metres southeast of its junction with Hill Piece

A4185 Newbury Road 150 metres northwest of its junction with Newbury Road (cul-de-sac)

The unnamed road 370 metres east of its junction with Townsend between Chilton and West Hagbourne

Bishops Orchard from its junction with New Road for its entire length

Blewbury Road(B4016) from its junction with Main Road to a point 112metres south of Fieldside

c) Chilton Road a point 221 metres west of its junction with the A417 London Road. d) Hollow Way a point 124 metres south of its junction with the A417 London Road.

(a) A417 Reading Road from a point 76 metres west of its junction with the Wantage Road eastwards to a point 387 metres east of its junction with The Holloway.

(b) A417 Reading Road from a point 616 metres west of its junction (at Rowstock) with the Wantage Road westwards to the parish boundary at its junction with the A4130/A4185 roads, a distance of 353 metres.

(c) A4130 from its junction with the A417 Reading Road Rowstock-Steventon road northwards for a distance of 275 metres (partly in the parish of Milton) (d) A4185 (at Rowstock) from its junction with the A 417 Reading Road southwards for a distance of 220 metres, partly in the parish of East Hendred.

(e) Wantage Rd / High St / from its junction with the A417 Reading Road Drewitts Corner / Burr St / northwards and eastwards to the parish Blenhiem Hill / Didcot Rd boundary, a point 190 metres west of its
