FREDERICKSBURG AREA METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION (FAMPO) Matt Kelly Fredericksburg City Chairperson Spotsylvania County Stafford County Paul Agnello FAMPO Administrator FAMPO RESOLUTION 17-15 A RESOLUTION OF THE FREDERICKSBURG AREA METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION AUTHORIZING SUPPORT FOR THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION’S (NVTC) SMART SCALE APPLICATION WHEREAS, the Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (FAMPO) serves as the federally designated MPO for the Fredericksburg Area; and WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia is accepting 2016 Smart Scale project applications for the FY 18-23 SYIP from August 1, 2016 through October 3, 2016; and WHEREAS, the Smart Scale process requires transit agencies to receive a resolution of support from their respective metropolitan planning organization or planning district commission in order to be eligible for Smart Scale Statewide High Priority program funding and the deadline for submission of these resolutions is December 1, 2016; and WHEREAS, the NVTC and the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) support the Fredericksburg Line Capacity Improvements Project and have requested FAMPO support; and WHEREAS, the NVTC project application includes the GWRC VRE Station Improvement Project for Brooke and Leeland Road Stations, which were approved by both GWRC and FAMPO in September 2016. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY FAMPO THAT IT HEREBY SUPPORTS THE NVTC 2016 SMART SCALE APPLICATION FOR VRE FREDERICKSBURG LINE CAPACITY IMPROVEMENTS.
