6 TO BE READ BY: TRAIN COMPANY RETAIL STAFF 4 ON-TRAIN STAFF TRAVEL AGENTS Central Trains Summary of Fares Review – January 2006

Please find below details of price changes that will take effect from 2 January 2006. General fares increases will be as follows: Standard Day Singles/Returns* 3.9% Rangers/Rovers 3.9% Saver Single/Returns* 3.9% Robin Hood Line Flexisaver 3.9% Season tickets 3.9% First Class fares 3.9% Cheap Day Single/Returns 3.9% Standard Open Singles/Returns 6.4% (* Some Standard Day Single, Standard Day Return and Saver fares will be increased by the maximum 6.4%) Central Value All Central Value 1, 3 and 7 Single and Return fares will be increased by £1.00. New Central Value fares have been created for Stafford - Liverpool, Cheltenham - Newport and Tamworth - Gloucester. Centro (West Midlands PTE) Centro have applied percentage increases to fares (including zonal season tickets) within the West Midlands Travel To Work area of between 3-4%. Centrocard add-on fares have also been increased. Coventry Airport A new bus add-on fare has been created which will be available for sale from 2 January 2006. The ticketing destination is “Cov Airport Bus Link” (H378) Details and fares are shown in the RailLinks manual for NFM 92 and will also be distributed in a Central Trains Retail merchandiser. This new add-on has been set up on behalf of Centro (W Midlands PTE) and will provide a “through” journey opportunity to the newly opened Coventry Airport. East Midlands Airport via Loughborough (J470) The ticketing destination has been changed to read “E Mids Airport via Lough”. This will make it consistent with the new bus add-ons to East Midlands Airport via Nottingham and Derby. Shirerider bus add-on (H790) Due to an extremely low take up the above bus add-on will be withdrawn from 2 January 2006. Other actions: Nuneaton – Hinckley Fares on this journey have been made consistent in each direction after various requests from staff and customers. This has resulted in a larger than average increase in the fares from the Nuneaton direction, however a new Cheap Day Return has been introduced. Stafford – Runcorn The current First Class fare is higher than the equivalent fare to Liverpool therefore it has been reduced to remove the anomaly. Stoke – Stafford Local rail services between Stoke and Stafford calling at Norton Bridge, Stone, Barlaston & Wedgwood have been replaced with local buses. All existing tickets between these points have now been amended and replaced with new “bus only” ticket types. Birmingham – Nottingham The Standard Open Single (SOS) on the above journey was priced at a level lower than the SOS between Birmingham – Loughborough. The fare has now been increased to £15.90 to remove the anomaly. Alton Towers Alton Towers “All in One” fares have been reviewed and will be available for sale from 1 April 2006, when Alton Towers re-opens, until 28 October 2006. Information will be briefed to relevant staff through a Retail Merchandiser nearer the opening date. Revenue Strategy Team Central Trains
