Information for incoming exchange students

Koźmiński University (formerly known as The Leon Koźmiński Academy of Entrepreneurship and ) is located in a rapidly growing industrial district of Warsaw. It is a private with a strong international reputation, which was originally established as the International Business School in 1989 to meet the demand for managerial and entrepreneurial skills that arose over the last decade in Poland. It took the name of Leon Koźmiński Academy of Entrepreneurship and Management in 1997, and became Koźmiński University in 2008. Originally it served the needs of entrepreneurs and managers from Warsaw, but the number of students coming from other regions of Poland now constitutes 70% of the total population. There are approximately 6,000 students at Koźmiński University.

1 Koźmiński University was the first school in Central and to receive EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation. It is the only EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA accredited University in Poland and Central- Eastern Europe. Kozminski Master in Management Program was ranked by the Global Masters in Management Ranking 2012 "Financial Times" on the 28th place, Global Masters in Finance Ranking 2013 - 19 place. Its EMBA programme was listed on 46 place among top 100 MBA programs in the world, and number 1 in Poland in 2013. College of Law was ranked number 1 among Polish Law schools as well according National Ranking 2013.

List of courses in English offered for Incoming students, including Law Department Kozminski has about 8 000 students overall, apart from students of Polish origin, there is a great number of International students (62 nationalities), specifically on English Track of Studies. Kozminski offers Businesses studies taught entirely in English.

Location

Warsaw is the capital of Poland and its largest city. It is located on the Vistula river roughly 370 km from both the Baltic Sea coast and the Carpathian Mountains. Its population as of 2005 was estimated at 1,697,596, with an urban agglomeration of approximately 2,760,000.

Courses Available

Aston students can study from a variety of programmes offered in English, including the BBA in . Areas of specialization include Management, Marketing, Finance and International Business. Each module carries between 3-5 ECTS credits.

Polish Language for Foreigners and Polish Culture courses are available to international students.

Living in

 Incoming students  Erasmus Students Network is one of the best in Poland. It helps incoming students with all sorts of queries. Also, the Incoming students coordinator is very helpful and open-minded. This is all very important for exchange students, who might find themselves a bit lost in a foreign country.  Accommodation:  Koźmiński University does not have its own accommodation, but will assist students in finding accommodation in Warsaw.  A Buddy Programme is available, which is a student association responsible for the social and cultural aspects of student life. The association will contact students before their arrival in Warsaw.  An airport pick-up service is available, if students inform the International Office in advance of their date of arrival.  Cost of Living (in Polish Złoty (PLN)) Approximate prices per semester: Rent: €1,000-1,500 (4,000 – 6,000 PLN) Food, personal expenses €1,350 -1500 (5,400 – 6,000 PLN) Cinema ticket: €4-5 (16-20 PLN) Meal in restaurant: €13- 18 (50-70 PLN) Exchange students are entitled to a 50% discount on travel and entertainment expenses.

You must complete and send us the Erasmus application form 4. Following the nomination you must Then you will need to complete an application form which can be downloaded from the website, and return it to Koźmiński University with three photographs, a copy of your academic transcript, proof of health insurance, the accommodation request form and a course request form. Non EU students will need to obtain a visa from their local Polish Embassy or Consulate. EU students will have to obtain a temporary

3 residence permit from the Department of Citizens’ Affairs. There will be an arrangement fee for this. The International Placements Team will contact you about this. 5. Read the Study Plan (available on Blackboard from June) 6. Complete a Learning Agreement once your modules have been approved by your Placement Tutor
