  • RSC Style Guide
Religious Studies Center Style Guide, 1 October 2018 Authors who submit manuscripts for potential publication should generally follow the guidelines in The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th ed. (Chicago: The University of Chicago Press, 2017) and Style Guide for Editors and Writers, 5th ed. (Salt Lake City: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2013). This style guide summarizes the main principles in the other style guides and lists a few exceptions to their guidelines. Formatting 1. Use double-spacing throughout the manuscript and the endnotes. Use one-inch margins, and insert page numbers at the bottom of the page. Use a Times New Roman 12-point font for both the body of the manuscript and the notes. Use only one space after periods. 2. If you have images, add captions and courtesy lines (such as courtesy of Church History Library, Salt Lake City) to the Word file. However, do not insert images in the Word files; submit them separately. Images should be 300 dpi or better (TIFF or JPG files). File names and captions should match (Fig. 1.1 = chapter 1, figure 1). Headings 3. Update: Include headings to break up the text. First-Level Headings First-level headings should be flush left and bolded, as in the example above. Capitalize internal words except for articles (a, an, and the), conjunctions (and, but, or, for, so, and yet), prepositions, and the word to in infinitive phrases. Second-Level Headings Second-level headings should be flush left and italicized. Capitalize like first-level headings. Third-level headings. Third-level headings should be italicized, followed by a period, and run in to the text; capitalization should be handled sentence-style (capitalize the first word and proper nouns).

  • “Trust in the Lord's Plan”
BYU-Pathway Worldwide Devotional July 16, 2019 “Trust in the Lord’s Plan” Lessons Learned from the Rome Italy Temple Gérald Caussé Presiding Bishop I rejoice in this opportunity to speak to you determined BYU-Pathway students from all around the world. You have embarked on an educational journey that may include challenges and even setbacks along the way. My desire is to provide you with hope and encouragement when you face difficult times as you pursue your educational goals. The recently dedicated Rome Italy Temple holds a special place in my heart. I participated in the construction process for this magnificent house of the Lord since the groundbreaking ceremony in September 2009. The excitement of everyone in attendance was palpable, and we all anticipated that the construction would proceed smoothly and swiftly. None of us attending that day would have ever imagined it would take almost 10 years to complete this beautiful edifice. Unfortunately, as soon as construction began, problems arose. Then, for several years, obstacles of every kind got in our way that often impeded and delayed our progress. The finish date of the construction had to be pushed back several times. During these challenging times, I occasionally found myself asking: “Where is the Lord? Why doesn’t He come to help us?” Finally, the construction of the temple was complete. Last March, I was invited to participate in the dedicatory sessions. Upon my arrival at the temple site, I looked upon the incredible beauty of the temple and was filled with overwhelming feelings of awe and gratitude.

CARAVAGGIO second revised edition John T. Spike with the assistance of Michèle K. Spike cd-rom catalogue Note to the Reader 2 Abbreviations 3 How to Use this CD-ROM 3 Autograph Works 6 Other Works Attributed 412 Lost Works 452 Bibliography 510 Exhibition Catalogues 607 Copyright Notice 624 abbeville press publishers new york london Note to the Reader This CD-ROM contains searchable catalogues of all of the known paintings of Caravaggio, including attributed and lost works. In the autograph works are included all paintings which on documentary or stylistic evidence appear to be by, or partly by, the hand of Caravaggio. The attributed works include all paintings that have been associated with Caravaggio’s name in critical writings but which, in the opinion of the present writer, cannot be fully accepted as his, and those of uncertain attribution which he has not been able to examine personally. Some works listed here as copies are regarded as autograph by other authorities. Lost works, whose catalogue numbers are preceded by “L,” are paintings whose current whereabouts are unknown which are ascribed to Caravaggio in seventeenth-century documents, inventories, and in other sources. The catalogue of lost works describes a wide variety of material, including paintings considered copies of lost originals. Entries for untraced paintings include the city where they were identified in either a seventeenth-century source or inventory (“Inv.”). Most of the inventories have been published in the Getty Provenance Index, Los Angeles. Provenance, documents and sources, inventories and selective bibliographies are provided for the paintings by, after, and attributed to Caravaggio.

THE ENSIGN OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS • MARCH 2019 Understanding Women’s Connection with Priesthood Power, page 30 3 Questions to Ask Yourself in Trying Times, page 12 The Masterpiece Painting of Your Life, page 16 THE Rome CHURCH IS HERE Italy When the Rome Italy Temple is dedicated on March 10–12, 2019, Latter-day Saints around the world will rejoice, especially the Saints in Italy. What more meaningful edifice could the “eternal city” receive than a house of the Lord? The temple, the first in Italy, is located in the Italy northeast section of Rome. It is part of a religious and cultural complex that includes a multifunctional meetinghouse (with a cultural hall and facilities for conferences), a visitors’ center, a family history cen- ter, and patron housing , all surrounded by gardens. Missionary efforts in Italy began in 1850, but progress was interrupted by local concerns with the Church and by certain legal requirements. The Church was allowed to resume missionary efforts in 1964. In 1993, Italy granted formal legal status to the Church. In 2012, the Church received official status as a “partner of the state,” which allows the Church greater freedom to do more good, both as PHOTOGRAPH BY MOSSIMO CRISCIONE BY PHOTOGRAPH a church and as a social institution. Today nearly 27,000 Latter-day Saints in Italy meet in 101 congregations. President Thomas S. Monson (1927–2018) presided at the 2010 groundbreaking for the Rome Italy Temple, which was also attended by the vice mayor of Rome. There are two missions in Italy: the Italy Milan Mission and the Italy Rome Mission.
