Maintenance Contractor for The Bristol Port Company – £375k p/a

ERH have an onsite permanent team of 6 skilled craftsmen at the Port of Bristol. We are proud to be the contractor for general maintenance works providing any maintenance activity that is required. Our highly experienced team undertake numerous tasks from Civils works, surfacing, painting of road network structures, decorating, ceiling repairs, brickwork and landscaping.

Maintenance Contractor for Oldbury Power Station

Oldbury power station, located on a 71 hectare site 15 miles north of Bristol on the south bank of the in South Gloucestershire, is an operating twin reactor station. Since 1967, the station has produced electricity around the clock supplying on a typical day 435MW of electricity - enough to meet the needs of a city one and a half times the size of Bristol. The station with two reactor vessels each containing 26,400 fuel elements draws unlimited supplies of cooling water from the River Severn. To ensure the station runs smoothly we have been undertaken as maintenance contractor for the site providing a wide range of services from carpentry to civil engineering. Due to the high security risk presented by the site all our staff have

required a strict vetting process to ensure the continued safety at the location. Our quality of work, response time and ability to listen, understand and work within the special requirements of the site have ensured we have been invaluable at the power station.

Maintenance Contractor for Bristol City Council

This contract was initially awarded to us for 5 years in 1992, and after successfully re-tendering in 1997 secured another 5 year period until 2002. Then through the development of open working relationships established with Bristol City Council, and undertaking maintenance activities and minor works whilst minimising disruption and waste while maximising efficiency, we then negotiated further 1-year extensions. As Term Maintenance Contractor, we have dedicated teams, who undertake planned maintenance works. Works include refurbishment, alterations and extensions to many of the Council’s corporate properties, including offices; schools; museums; libraries; social services buildings; refuse transfer stations; cemeteries and crematoriums; sports centres and swimming pools. The value of individual projects range from a few hundred pounds up to £300,000. Emergency repair works following storm damage and vandalism are also carried out, as and when required.

Maintenance Contractor for Rolls Royce, Filton, Bristol

Rolls-Royce is a global business providing integrated power systems for use on land, at sea and in the air. The Filton plant has made engines for lots of aircraft like Concorde, Harrier jump jet's and the Brabazon. The new Patchway site is the Defence Aerospace base for Rolls and houses assembly lines for a range of aircraft engines, including the EJ200 for the Typhoon, the Adour for the Hawk and the RTM322 for the NH90 and EH101 helicopters. ERH have become a subcontract maintenance supplier for the site undertaking a variety of works including: general maintenance, surfacing, decorating, civils, repairs, painting, brickwork and landscaping. We are pleased to be providing any maintenance activity that is required. Our highly experienced team undertake small works projects and are able to provide a local workforce that offers great flexibility to our client. Ancillary Works Framework for Welsh Government £4m p/a This framework is specifically for the installation of more state-of-the-art systems for the gathering and dissemination of information encompassing roadside communications, electrical work, road tunnel communications and M&E. Within this framework, as principal contractor, we have undertaken various projects encompassing a diverse range of activities. One high profile project revolved around the staging of the Ryder Cup Golf Tournament between Europe and the USA which was held at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, South Wales. ERH were actively involved in preparing for this major international event attended by circa 45,000 golf fans every day. Working with Traffic Wales we contributed to the successful management of the increased volume of traffic through the installation of driver information signs (MS4’s), temporary CCTV surveillance cameras and ANPR Infrastructure on strategic routes for Gwent Police. Key personnel also provided technical support to the Silver Command Team (Police, Media and Fire Brigade).

Maintenance Contractor for Terra Nitrogen UK

ERH worked with TERRA Nitrogen UK, based at Severnside, as their Maintenance Contractor for over 25 years. Commencing onto the ICI (now TERRA) site in 1977 we have undertaken a variety of works on a daily basis. Our highly experienced team undertook numerous tasks from hanging doors, grass cutting, mending collapsed drains, repairing asbestos roofs, and fixing plumbing leaks to the day-to-day ordering of cleaning supplies and arranging for plans to be printed. Our Site Manager was based on site for over 8 years and was instrumental in the development of this successful relationship. He had a team of skilled site staff all trained under the Passport to Work Scheme and Permit to Work System. Members of our experienced site team were, on a rota basis, on call 24 hours day, 7 days a week. Apart from the general dayworks we are issued we also undertook larger contracts for this client including Head office building construction and Foreshore work.

Bristol City Council - Barton Hill Improvement Scheme, Bristol

A Community led project to improve the security and environment in, and around, eight residential blocks at Barton Hill, Bristol. Each block was provided with a car park, landscaped area, communal gardens and lighting, within a fenced ‘defensible space’. Pedestrian, cycle and vehicular access was also provided between the blocks connecting to the surrounding highway network. A Village Green also developed to link the community provided playground and social areas. Works comprised of the demolition of garage blocks, excavations for road and footway construction, underground services installation, the construction of carriageways/footways/ shared surfaces and car parks in bituminous materials and block paving. New surface water drainage has been provided along with modifications to existing street lighting and associated electrical work. Works also included the construction of retaining walls and the installation of metal railings and gates, signs, bollards and other street furniture. To ensure open and ongoing communication with Tenants and Resident Organisations we, within our Contract Team, engaged a Tenants Liaison Officer (TLO). Our TLO held “Open Door Sessions” bi- weekly with Tenants to ensure all were aware of imminent work activities, attended resident meetings and operated a successful Complaint Monitoring Procedure addressing any issues raised.

Comments from the Client have been extremely positive – “The sheer scale of the project meant that local residents inevitably experienced some inconvenience during the construction phase. But through the effort of ERH, the Project Team and co-operation of the local community, the area has been revitalised whilst the project was completed both on time and within budget transforming Barton Hill”.

B&NES - DDA Term Partnering Contract

We successfully secured the Term Partnering Contract with Bath & North East Council (B&NES) to ensure all corporately owned properties meet the requirements of The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995. The DDA was passed to introduce new measures aimed at ending the discrimination which many disabled people face. It protects disabled people in the areas of employment and in the access to goods, facilities and services. We are currently programmed to undertake demolition, refurbishment and/or the rebuild of accesses and related facilities to properties, some of which include Listed & Historically important buildings such as The Roman Baths Complex and the Victoria Art Gallery & Library. Other properties include car parks; day centres; nurseries; libraries; cafés; gardens; public conveniences; registry offices; crematoriums; cemeteries; civic amenity sites; community centres; sports & leisure centres; town halls; markets and youth clubs. Alterations are required to be undertaken to pedestrian and vehicle access; paths & pavements; signage; external ramps; entrances; corridors; internal doors and spaces; toilet facilities; staff provisions; seating and the installation of aids for the hearing and visually impaired. Brunswick Cemetery Gardens, Bristol - £284k

Brunswick Cemetery was established almost 250 years ago and had become a dumping ground. ERH has transformed a neglected area to its tranquil former glory as a cemetery garden. The works comprised of site clearance, top soil, excavation and grading works together with surface water drainage, installation of a standpipe, including connection to water main. Existing boundaries were realigned, including new walls, metal railings and gates, paving works and construction of steps. Specialist repairs were made to existing walls and listed memorials, the existing small mortuary chapel building was painted and existing wrought iron railings (around memorials) were repaired or replaced with real wrought iron and completed with an iron working being painted.
