17th October 2019

Dear Parent/Guardian

Post 16 Evening Colleges, Schools, Training Agencies and Our Careers Advisor Wednesday 6th November 2019, 6.00pm to 7.30pm Years 10 and 11 The Venue,

I am writing to invite pupils and parents to our Post 16 Evening. This is an important opportunity for direct contact with numerous Post 16 providers with the focus being on placements in full and part time education.

It is essential that students start planning their next step: college or apprenticeship, “A” levels or Btec, what subjects to take, what GCSE exam grades are required to get onto their desired course, etc.

For those who are thinking of going on to study for a degree, it will be useful to talk to the colleges who provide degree courses about what qualifications and grades will be needed to get on the course you may be interested in. There will be several important decisions that you will need to make over the next couple of years; sooner than you perhaps expect. Please try and give yourselves time by finding out as much information as you can in advance.

It is also useful to find out what additional skills and experiences universities, colleges and employers want to see on CVs and personal statements while there is still time to achieve them: relevant work experience, D of E, volunteering etc.

The list of Colleges, Schools, and Agencies who are attending is overleaf.

I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, 6th November.

Yours sincerely

John Roberts Deputy Head
