'We believe in fairies' Over 1500 holiday makers, visitors and locals enjoyed the pantomime 'Peter Pan' staged by the Point Lonsdale-Queenscliffe Theatre Group. Out of 14 performances six were sold out. Director, Debbie Fraser, captured the magic of panto with the audience booing the villainous Captain Hook yelling 'We believe in fairies' to save Tinkerbell. Sam Cameron played a confident and believable Peter, Edwina Royce was a sweet and loveable Wendy whilst her two brothers, Michael and John were cheekily played by Cooper McKee-Young and Harry Williams. Melody Campbell-Gordon was charmingly convincing as Tiger Lily. Matthew King portrayed a deliciously bumbling but despicable Captain Hook and Ian Rooney as Smee provided a wonderful comedic foil for Hook with Meegan Baker as the poetry spouting crocodile completed the main characters in the show. Supporting roles were competently played by Bernadette Byrne as Mrs Darling, Conor Allsop who doubled up as Starkey and Panther. The 'lost children', some appearing on stage for the first time, obviously enjoyed themselves and what they lacked in experience they made up with enthusiasm! Another magical touch was the children coming on stage to meet the cast and have photographs taken. Excerpt from Jennie Roles.
