Lead singer and songwriter, Aaron, calls upon the honesty and romanticism of Americana, slide guitars, heartbeat drums and heartbreak vocals. UE S SHOWCAS E They specialise in long-haired, tassle- touting, rock ’n’ roll blues music, playing songs about dangerous women, open roads, gamblers and vagabonds. Stone Thieves sound is doused in the great tradition of the typically British take on Americana. When Lucy Zirins asked me to take over the role of curator from her for the 2019 event, I had a pretty clear idea of the type of acts I wanted to book early on. Although I am a massive fan of traditional blues, I was keen that the stage not only represents
the genre in the 21st century, but also how ne T h ie v e s S to artists are taking it forward and connecting with a new generation. There are a number of acts on the bill who, whilst tipping their hats to the past, offer something refreshing and contemporary. What they all share is a commitment to new, original material. This new “Roadhouse” is named after the Architect, Alfred Waterhouse, that designed Colne Town Hall in the late 19th Century. Restoring the Town Hall reception room to its original size and giving the town hall a large multi-purpose room, this, the Waterhouse Bar, is an exciting development. It is not every day you can have a drink and enjoy top quality live blues music in an historical building; another first for the 30th Anniversary of Blues in Colne.
