Perché per noi il giornalismo è principalmente partecipazione e conversazione. E il Festival vuole celebrare proprio questo aspetto in occasione della sua edizione 2016. La voglia di confrontarsi, il bisogno di raccontare storie, l’importanza fondamentale di condividere esperienze sono come sempre la cifra distintiva del Festival. Dove sta andando il giornalismo? Stiamo vivendo quello che potremmo definire uno stato di rivoluzione permanente. Un modello di business definitivamente in crisi, diversi modelli da sperimentare e diverse concezioni del giornalismo messe continuamente alla prova. Fact-checking, data journalism, explanatory journalism, il ruolo giornalistico delle piattaforme, paywall vs crowdfunding, l’era dei video e del mobile, robot journalism, realtà virtuale, il coinvolgimento dei lettori e il ruolo civico dell’informazione, la crisi dell’homepage, alla ricerca della “nuova” obiettività, il giornalismo mobile first, capire l’audience oltre le metriche, social networks vs media mainstream: ultimo atto, il caso Spotlight e il potere del giornalismo di cambiare le cose.     GIORNALISMO Lucia Annunziata si è dimessa dall’Huffington Post lo scorso 21 gennaio. “Nuovo editore. Nuovo direttore”, ha detto (foto LaPresse). IL LATO DIGITALE “All’Huffington Post ho fatto un bagno di futuro che mi servirà. E di certo non vado in di Lucia pensione”, racconta Annunziata che ha lasciato la direzione del sito di news. E aggiunge: “La professionalità paga sempre. Stanno morendo i giornali di carta, non il giornalismo” Accoccolata sulla soffice poltrona, accarezzando Milo, parla dell’Huffington Post come se parlasse di un’altra vita. Eppure l’ha appena lasciato, senza sbattere la porta ma neanche accompagnandola per la maniglia. “Ti dispiace se non ne parliamo? Acqua passata”. Certo che mi dispiace, e anche Milo alza di scatto la testa disegnando con gli occhi da cocker un punto interrogativo. Mi dispiace perché volevo chiederle come mai dopo otto anni così, all’improvviso; se c’è stato del malumore con la nuova proprietà e via curiosando. Anche se il motivo vero del nostro incontro è un altro. Lucia mi dice solo che era scaduto il tempo, “otto anni sono lunghi, e quando arriva un nuovo editore è giusto lasciargli campo libero”. Ma an- nuendo conferma un sospetto, e cioè che il prossimo futuro non prometteva per lei niente di buono, convinta che l’Huffington era ritenuto dalla nuova proprietà “un neo sulla proboscide di un elefante” e che già il finale con GEDI, ancora proprietà di Cir puzzava di bruciato. “Mi giungevano voci e chiedevo: ma davvero vendete? It examines the different actor types on the social media platform to reveal patterns of sourcing used by the NPR social media strategist, who emerged as a key broker of information on Twitter during the Arab Spring. News sourcing is a critical element in the practice of journalism as it shapes from whom journalists get their information and what type of information they obtain. Numerous studies have shown that journalists privilege elite sources who hold positions of power in society. This study evaluates whether networked and distributed social media platforms such as Twitter expand the range of actors involved in the construction of the news through a quantitative content analysis of the sources cited by Carvin. The results show that non-elite sources had a greater influence over the content flowing through his Twitter stream than journalists or other elite sources.

Photograph: Hamada Elrasam/AP Three al-Jazeera journalists were jailed in Egypt this week for endangering Egyptian national security – and the country's foreign ministry insists that "due process was adhered to" in their trial. But the Guardian – the only newspaper to attend and report on each of the trial's 13 sessions – witnessed a litany of flaws. As Amnesty International, who also observed every session, notes: "the prosecution failed to produce a single shred of solid evidence". Retraction of key prosecution claims The prosecution's claim that the journalists had endangered national security rested on the testimony of a committee of "experts" from state television, who made the assertion in writing before the trial began. But under cross-examination in the trial's 10th hearing, the committee's three representatives admitted they did not know whether the journalists' work had endangered national security – collapsing the prosecution's case, and raising the question of whether the committee had written their own report in the first place. Irrelevant evidence To prove that the journalists had fabricated news, prosecutors presented dozens of videos and recordings – taken from various hard drives and phones owned by the defendants – that had no relevance either to Egypt or al-Jazeera.
