Science Destroys the Evolutionary Paradigm SCIENCE DESTROYS THE EVOLUTIONARY PARADIGM An Inservice Manual for Young-Earth Creationists Free Images – Snappygoat.com Materialistic Naturalism, an Immoral and Incoherent Philosophy!!! Dr. Jim Pagels – 4/18/2018 1 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:9-11 This book along with its predecessors including Apologetic Resources, Lesson Plans for Biblical Apologetics and Touching Lives through Apologetics, a Counseling Perspective are offered free for personal and professional use in ministry, being available as downloads on the Michigan District website under schools-curriculum. Scriptural references are typically taken from the English Standard Version (ESV) although the King James Version (KJV) is also periodically utilized. 2 Contents Acknowledgements………………………………………………………………………..…….5 Preface…………………………………………………………………………………………...6 Intended Audience ……………………………………………………………………………....8 Inservice Perspective……….…………………………………………………………….……..9 Inservice Questionnaire……………………………………………………………..…………10 1. A thank you is also extended to Kathy Krause for her expertise in providing a final proofing to this document. This writer has found it most interesting how the gifts and life experiences of various writers add substance and depth to the creation-evolution worldview conflict discussed in this product. Many thanks also go out to my wife, Doris, who has been supportive in my efforts and time involvement with various projects and with whose help I have grown immensely in regard to my proof reading skills. Additionally, at this time in history, we are blessed by the abundance the many excellent professional creationism sources offered by young Earth ministries including, but not limited to Answers in Genesis (AiG), Creation Ministries International (CMI) and the Institute for Creation Research (ICR). The writings of the following young Earth creationists have been most helpful in expanding the creation-evolution conversation beyond a conflict involving endless comparisons and contrasts between the biblical narrative and the pseudo-science of materialistic naturalism. These works include the in-depth handling of From Atheism to Christianity by Joel Heck, professor of theology at Concordia University, Austin, TX, who dealt with C.S. Lewis’ life-long search for truth; the works of Jason Lisle including The Ultimate Proof of Creation, Logic and Faith, etc.; Brad Alles’, professor of theology at Concordia University, Mequon, WI, Life’s Big Questions God’s Big Answers; Norman Geisler and Frank Turek’s I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist; and Tim LaHaye, for his many excellent works on creationism and temperament. 5 Preface The primary concern for the writing of this book is the loss of our youth to the humanism that permeates our society. This evolutionary indoctrination begins with children’s cartoons and the loveable characters of Burt and Ernie and Bob the Builder and extends into the textbooks used by most children with America. Secular colleges represent the finishing school for many who seek degrees in the sciences. With the concerted efforts of skeptics, evolution is offered as a fact and those opposing this view are pictured as ignorant, if not just plain stupid. This technique of demeaning the opposition is frequently used by those who would choose not to actually discuss the issue. Unfortunately, the narratives of creation and global flood accounts in Genesis are not upheld in a majority of the Christian churches of America; furthermore, simply embracing the foundational theology within one’s confessions and periodically mentioning the Creator, Designer and Law Giver of the universe does little to refute the day to day “drum beat” of evolution’s proponents. The simple fact is that evolution is not based on science, but is a philosophy [religion] created by man designed to denigrate the Scriptural narrative. None of the four pillars of evolution (the pre-existence of matter, chance events leading to design, nature being a force in its own right in the emergence and ascendancy of life finally resulting in man and the deceptive perspective that “given enough time anything can happen”) have any basis in science. The pivotal question is what one key point will undermine the foundation of the pseudo-science of evolution. The answer this this question is quite simple! Since skeptics claim that nature provides the only compelling force in the universe responsible for the evolutionary process, contrary to this misrepresentation is the fact the supernatural exists outside of Scriptures as exemplified by the design in the universe, in nature and in mankind. This fact represents a checkmate position for creationists since the evolutionary paradigm is solely based on denying the existence of the supernatural and God. Obviously, volumes of young Earth research and rebuttal exists on a plethora of topics, e.g., dinosaurs, the Ice Age and Ape Men etc., and being knowledgeable of the evidence enhances the refutation of the Darwinian scheme; however, the starting point in this battle is the matter of understanding the basics regarding the supposed science related to the evolutionary storyline. This is the primary purpose of this offering. Understand that this product does not spend time or energy on areas indigenous to the ministry to our children, teens and adults, e.g., Bible stories and the emphasis of law and Gospel found in the theology offered in sermons and Bible classes. The point of the material in this book is that Christians need to confront and refute the false philosophies of our time just as was the case with Paul as reported in Colossians 2:8, “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and 6 empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.” In contrast, Christ documented the truth of the Old Testament and his message in John 10:35 “The Scripture cannot be broken” and John 17:17 “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” Efforts to harmonize “millions of years,” based on the reasoning and theories of man in opposition to the truth of Scripture, is fraught with numerous problems ultimately resulting in perceived incoherence within Scripture and therefore destabilizing the Christian message. In spite of the complications caused by the theistic evolution perspective, it is important to realize that God’s message as contained in Habakkuk 2:4 and Romans 1:17, namely “The just will live by their faith,” illustrates that it is faith alone that is the sole requirement for salvation. So although young Earth creationists sharply disagree with our old Earth creationist brethren, this does not mean that it is being suggested that their faith in Christ Jesus does not represent saving faith. As this writer reflects on this work, it would appear to take on the three dimensions: theology, science and psychology, all melded into a singular product. 7 Intended Audience The specific purpose of this document is to offer a resource for inservice to be used by professional church workers, i.e.,

  • Mark Alan Smith Righ
Mark Alan Smith Department of Political Science University of Washington Right from Wrong: The Folly of Religious Arguments about Morality Forthcoming 2022 Prometheus Books Chapter 3 Discovering Morality through Inclusive Deliberation Atheists are strikingly unpopular, especially in America. When asked several years ago whether they “would disapprove if my child wanted to marry” an atheist, 44% of Americans said yes, much greater than the number for African Americans (23%), Jews (18%), and Hispanics (13%).1 Only 58% of Americans would vote for a well-qualified candidate from their party who happened to be an atheist, whereas many more would vote for someone who was Catholic (93%), female (92%), Black (92%), Mormon (81%), or gay or lesbian (74%).2 Many atheists report being ostracized from their families after publicly declaring their non-belief in God,3 and résumés that mention a person’s affiliation as an atheist are less likely to get a response from prospective employers.4 These negative attitudes toward atheists reflect a common belief that they readily lie, cheat, and steal when it serves their interests. Research documenting those perceptions has been 1 conducted by psychologist Will Gervais, who developed a clever test to capture beliefs about who commits the greatest number of moral transgressions. He found that Americans think atheists are much more likely than members of groups defined by race, religion, and sexual orientation to commit murder, engage in incest, kick a dog, cheat at cards, disrespect an employer, eat human flesh, ridicule an obese woman, and renounce national and family ties.5 In a country where nearly half the population deems it “necessary to believe in God to be moral,” as one survey indicates, atheists seem to threaten order and decency.6 As it turns out, Christian apologists are usually more generous than the general public when talking about atheists.

  • Principles of Plant Taxonomy, V.*
THE OHIO JOURNAL OF SCIENCE VOL. XXVIII MARCH, 1928 No. 2 PRINCIPLES OF PLANT TAXONOMY, V.* JOHN H. SCHAFFNER, Ohio State University. After studying the taxonomy of plants for twenty-five years the very remarkable fact became evident that there is no general correspondence of the taxonomic system with the environment, but as the great paleontologist, Williams, said in 1895: "environmental conditions are but the medium through which organic evolution has been determinately ploughing its way." Of course, the very fact that there is a system of phylogenetic relationships of classes, orders, families, and genera and that these commonly have no general correspondence to environment shows that, in classifying the plant material, we must discard all notions of teleological, utilitarian, and selective factors as causative agents of evolution. The general progressive movement has been carried on along quite definite lines. The broader and more fundamental changes appeared first and are practically constant, and on top of these, .potentialities or properties of smaller and smaller value have been introduced, until at the end new factors of little general importance alone are evolved. These small potentialities are commonly much less stable than the more fundamental ones and thus great variability in subordinate characters is often present in the highest groups. We must then think of the highest groups as being full of hereditary potentialities while the lower groups have comparatively few. As stated above, there is a profound non-correspondence of the .taxonomic system and the various orthogenetic series with the environment. The system of plants, from the taxonomic point of view, is non-utilitarian.

  • HISTORY and ANALYSIS of the CREATION RESEARCH SOCIETY by William E
AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF William E. Elliott for the degree ofMaster of Science in General Science presented on March 1, 1990. Title: History and Analysis of theCreation ltee Society Redacted for Privacy Abstractapproved: The resurgence of creationismthe past few years has been led by advocates of recent-creationism. These individuals, a minority among creationists in general, argue that the entire universe was created approximately 10,000 years ago in one six- day period of time.Recent-creationists support their position by appealing to the Genesis account of creation and scientific data. Their interpretation of Genesis is based on the doctrines of conservative, evangelical Christianity. Their interpretation of scientific data is informed by their theological presuppositions. The scientific side of recent-creationism is supported by several organizations, most of which had their origin in one group, the Creation Research Society. The CRS is a major factor in the rise of the modern creationist movement. Founded in 1963, this small (c. 2000 mem- bers) group claims to be a bona-fide scientific society engaged in valid scientific re- search conducted from a recent-creationist perspective. These claims are analyzed and evaluated. The Society's history is discussed, including antecedent creationist groups. Most of the group's founders were members of the American Scientific Affiliation, and their rejection of changes within the ASA was a significant motivating factor in founding the CRS. The organization, functioning, and finances of the Society are de- tailed with special emphasis on the group's struggles for independence and credibility. founding the CRS. • Kurt Vonnegut's Mission in Galapagos
THE DAWN JOURNAL VOL. 3, NO. 1, JANUARY - JUNE 2014 A RESTATEMENT OF DARWINISM IN A NEW WORLD – KURT VONNEGUT’S MISSION IN GALAPAGOS S. Priyadarshini ABSTRACT Darwin’s Theory of Natural Selection and Theory of Evolution find a new treatment in Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Galapagos. The story of the novel is told by a ghost that watched human (d) evolution from 1986 for a million years. Pan-human beings have died through manmade and natural disasters. The survivors adapt themselves to the environment and evolved themselves with fur, flippers and streamlined heads so that they can swim in cold water easily. Through this story Vonnegut has not just reinforced Darwinism but has restated it in his own style. Galapagos is Vonnegut’s eleventh novel, and it is a wry account of the fate of human species told from a million years in the future by the ghost of the son of the Vonnegut’s alter-ego Kilgore Trout. This novel of Vonnegut is, in a way, a tribute to Darwin’s On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection. The setting of the novel is the natural home of marine iguanas and larcenous frigate birds. Galapagos is itself, the same island visited by Charles Darwin in his process of exploration of the Theory of Natural Selection. The theme of the novel is also evolution. Therefore, Vonnegut’s Galapagos goes parallel to the Theory of Darwin’s Natural Selection. This paper attempts to explore Galapagos as a restatement of Darwinism in a new world rather than reinforcement.

  • The Nemedian Chroniclers #21 [SS16]
REHeapa Summer Solstice 2016 By Lee A. Breakiron LET THERE BE UPDATES The Howard Collector Glenn Lord published 18 issues of his ground-breaking REH fanzine between 1961 and 1973, which we reviewed before. [1] He put out a 19th number (Vol. 4, #1) in summer, 2011, in the same 5 ½ x 8 ¾ format with light gray textured softcovers and 52 pages for $20.00. The volume contains the original version of “Black Canaan” (first published in 2010 by the Robert E. Howard Foundation), an untitled verse, an untitled Breckinridge Elkins fragment, and a drawing, all by Howard from Lord’s collection. Critic Fred Blosser contributes reviews of Steve Harrison’s Casebook and Tales of Weird Menace, both edited by REHupan Rob Roehm and published in 2011 by the Foundation, as well as El Borak and Other Desert Adventures (2010) and Sword Woman and Other Historical Adventures (2011), both edited by REHupan Rusty Burke and published by Del Rey. Blosser observes that the detective-type stories in the first two books tend to be better the more REH concentrates on action and weirdness rather than sleuthing. Blosser thinks highly of the last two, but wishes that Burke had not corrected Howard’s French spellings. THC #19 won Lord the 2012 Robert E. Howard Foundation (“Aquilonian”) Award for Outstanding Periodical. [2] A projected 20th issue, to include the original version of “Crowd-Horror,” was never published (“Crowd- Horror” would be published in 2013 in The Collected Boxing Fiction of Robert E. Howard: Fists of Iron), since Lord died of a heart attack December 31, 2011 at age 80.
