Evidence shows that good relationships with family, friends and the wider community, are important for mental wellbeing. Free Cafe Q, lunch meet up, Church Road, Northenden 12.00 Drop In at St Andrews House, Brownley Road M22 ODW 12.00 – 2.00 Saturday Self Help Drop-In, 9 Self Help Services, Wythenshawe Forum 10–12:00 Manchester Food and Drink Festival 2019 events take place in venues across the City and at the Festival Hub at Cathedral Gardens Visitors to The Festival Hub this year can expect a newly designed site with exciting new structures, live experiences and the biggest programme of events yet. Returning will be the Dining Dome – the amazing spherical foodie palace and once more, it will be the location for a host of specially curated banquets, supper clubs and food parties. You can also expect dozens of the best street food heroes who will be serving up their delicious international cuisines alongside some of the most exciting restaurant and drinks brands in the City. The live music stage will also be back with its customary diverse programme of performers. Open from 12noon - 11pm daily and with entry completely FREE, this is Manchester's food destination of the year so make sure you're part of it! Over 50s Exercise classes for Older People Improve your balance, strength and flexibility Over 65? Want to get fitter, have some fun and enjoy new company? Chorlton Good Neighbours Care Group with support from Manchester Public Development Service have set up exercise classes for older people. Our aim is to help you improve your balance and co-ordination, increase your muscle strength and general flexibility and help prevent trips and falls. All the classes are graded to suit all levels. You join in and work at your own pace under the guidance of a well-qualified instructor. Classes Available: Monday afternoon 1.30 – 2.30pm with instructor, Karen Seated and standing exercises, simple movements to a variety of music for fairly mobile older people. Wednesday afternoon 1.30 – 2.30pm with instructor, Josie Slightly more vigorous class for older people, mixture of balance and cardio work and some seated as well as standing work Friday morning 10 – 11am with instructor, Don Seated exercise class for older people with more mobility difficulties. Some transport assistance available for this class. All classes are at Wilbraham St Ninians Church, 132 – 134 Egerton Road South, Chorlton, Manchester 21 0XJ. The sessions are great fun. You will need to wear light clothing and flat shoes. Tea/coffee provided afterwards. Reminiscence’ means sharing life experiences, memories and stories from the past. Varying topics each week ranging from reminiscence to present day issues. Free. Everyone Welcome! Phone 0161 498 8266 Get a move on….Specialised Keep Fit for the over 50’s - Join Age UK Manchester for a weekly drop in fitness class offering fun and unique ways of exercising. Janice (Jazzy J) will cater for any ability or level of fitness. It’s for everybody! Every Tuesday: Chair-based Exercise 1.30pm-2.30pm. Fun and exercise (including gym induction) 2.30pm-3.30pm. Meet new people and make new friends whilst improving your fitness and mobility. Each session costs just £2 with members attending free of charge. There is something you can do about it “. Come along to our older adult’s wellbeing workshop (65 plus). A qualified practitioner will give you practical tools to help improve wellbeing, reduce worries, manage stress and feel happier in your life. It is part of “Together Dementia Support”. The group offers support to talk about issues that concern people with dementia, have lunch in addition to a monthly fun trip out in their mini bus. It runs on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at Chorlton Central Church, Barlow Moor Road, M21 8BF. Welcome to Wythenshawe Dementia Café - First Wednesday of the month from 1pm-3pm. Do you care for someone with dementia? Would you like to learn more about dementia? Come and join Admiral Nurses, Dementia Support Advisers, Manchester Carers Forum for a cuppa and a chat in a relaxed and friendly environment. This is a ‘safe’ place bringing people with dementia and their family carers together in the community. Here you can get support and meet other people in the same situation as you. It’s a place to make new friendships. Dementia Café Dates: Wednesdays 4th September, 2nd October, 6th November and the 4th December. Grove Lane Court , Grove Lane, Didsbury. In all classes wear comfortable clothing for easy movement and wrap warm for relaxation. Classes are taught in block sessions. A minimum of 5 people is required to run a session. Always listen to your body and rest at any time you need to during class. This creative arts workshop offers adult learners the opportunity to capture precious memories, hopes and dreams for the future in beautiful handmade books and boxes. The perfect workshop for adults who have treasured items, which are tucked away and have most likely been forgotten about. From old letters and family photographs, to children's drawings and pressed leaves. This workshop is available across the north of England. We can also create a workshop especially for you – taking your budget, timeframes and location into consideration. Creative Club for those living with dementia - Come and have fun making, sharing and relaxing whilst we explore a range of creative activities such as pottery, painting and drawing, needle craft and much more. Members are asked to contribute £5 per session for materials and refreshments. Those requiring transport, in our new minibus are asked to contribute an extra £4.
