Evidence shows that good relationships with family, friends and the wider community, are important for mental wellbeing. Free Cafe Q, lunch meet up, Church Road, Northenden 12.00 Drop In at St Andrews House, Brownley Road M22 ODW 12.00 – 2.00 Saturday Self Help Drop-In, 9 Self Help Services, Wythenshawe Forum 10–12:00 Manchester Food and Drink Festival 2019 events take place in venues across the City and at the Festival Hub at Cathedral Gardens Visitors to The Festival Hub this year can expect a newly designed site with exciting new structures, live experiences and the biggest programme of events yet. Returning will be the Dining Dome – the amazing spherical foodie palace and once more, it will be the location for a host of specially curated banquets, supper clubs and food parties. You can also expect dozens of the best street food heroes who will be serving up their delicious international cuisines alongside some of the most exciting restaurant and drinks brands in the City. The live music stage will also be back with its customary diverse programme of performers. Open from 12noon - 11pm daily and with entry completely FREE, this is Manchester's food destination of the year so make sure you're part of it! Over 50s Exercise classes for Older People Improve your balance, strength and flexibility Over 65? Want to get fitter, have some fun and enjoy new company? Chorlton Good Neighbours Care Group with support from Manchester Public Development Service have set up exercise classes for older people. Our aim is to help you improve your balance and co-ordination, increase your muscle strength and general flexibility and help prevent trips and falls. All the classes are graded to suit all levels. You join in and work at your own pace under the guidance of a well-qualified instructor. Classes Available: Monday afternoon 1.30 – 2.30pm with instructor, Karen Seated and standing exercises, simple movements to a variety of music for fairly mobile older people. Wednesday afternoon 1.30 – 2.30pm with instructor, Josie Slightly more vigorous class for older people, mixture of balance and cardio work and some seated as well as standing work Friday morning 10 – 11am with instructor, Don Seated exercise class for older people with more mobility difficulties. Some transport assistance available for this class. All classes are at Wilbraham St Ninians Church, 132 – 134 Egerton Road South, Chorlton, Manchester 21 0XJ. The sessions are great fun. It is part of “Together Dementia Support”. The group offers support to talk about issues that concern people with dementia, have lunch in addition to a monthly fun trip out in their mini bus. Do you care for someone with dementia? Would you like to learn more about dementia? Come and join Admiral Nurses, Dementia Support Advisers, Manchester Carers Forum for a cuppa and a chat in a relaxed and friendly environment. This is a ‘safe’ place bringing people with dementia and their family carers together in the community. Here you can get support and meet other people in the same situation as you.     Designated Outstanding collections Contents 3 Introduction 4 East Midlands 6 East 10 London 20 North East 22 North West 27 South East 31 South West 37 West Midlands 43 Yorkshire Introduction The Designation Scheme is a mark of distinction, identifying and celebrating pre-eminent collections of national and international importance in non-national institutions. The Scheme was established in 1997 by the Museums and Galleries Commission (MGC) in collaboration with the then Department of National Heritage as a result of a commitment in the 1996 Government policy document, Treasures in Trust. In 2005 Designation was extended to include libraries and archives. The Scheme is now administered by Arts Council England, aiming to raise standards and promote best practice across the sector. There are currently 140 Designated collections held in organisations across the whole of England. The following descriptions of the outstanding collections recognised by the Designation Scheme demonstrate the immense richness and variety of the collections held in England’s museums, libraries and archives. These world class collections are a lasting source of inspiration and enjoyment for generations of users and Designation exists to promote and increase access to them for all. Cover images 1. Crown. I T is difficult to realise in this mechanical age that only four generations ■^ago the only public passenger services from town to town throughout England were by stage coach and canal. Transport of passengers from one district to another within the boundary of a town was provided for only by the hackney coach and the cost of even this limited facility was practically prohibitive. As an example, for those who were able and willing to pay, a two-horse coach could be hired in St. Ann’s Square at a fare of five shillings for a journey to Cheetham Hill, but, in addition to this, toll bars cost eightpence and the driver expected sixpence for a drink. Needless to say, the two-horse vehicles from the town were not often seen in the neighbouring villages.

SEMMMS - Uncertainty Log 1.1 Introduction This technical note was produced by Atkins for Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, Manchester City Council and Cheshire East Council, as part of the supporting evidence for the Major Scheme Business Case for the SEMMMS A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road. In order to assess the economic benefits and costs associated with the proposed SEMMMS scheme, forecast year(s) scenario testing is required, through the use of a multi-modal transport model. The SEMMMS appraisal will make use of a variable demand traffic model developed by Transport for Greater Manchester, Highways Forecasting and Analytical Services (TfGM, HFAS) and the MVA Consultancy (MVA). The appraisal process compares the ‘Do-Minimum’ (DM) scenario, which takes into account expected committed developments and changes in background travel demand and cost of travel against the ‘Do-Something’ (DS) scenario, which additionally includes the proposed SEMMMS relief road scheme. Future year development data typically has a degree of uncertainty surrounding some or all of the background assumptions which input into forecast year scenarios. Developments which are expected to be in place by a given forecast year, may in fact not be, especially given the current economic conditions and political influences. Conversely, there may be factors which are un- expected or unknown, which accelerate a particular development. It is these uncertainties which the Department for Transport (DfT) seek to investigate by testing alternative DM and DS scenarios with modified background assumptions and it is the ‘uncertainty log’ which supplies the basis for the constructions of these scenario assumptions.
