This information concerns: • the mobility in and accessibility to regions, urban centres, markets, and services, • the development level, the cohesion degree, the competitiveness, and the intraregional inequalities, • the building development and the networking of urban centres, • the properties of the transport system and the operation of the road network, and • the quality of the environment. 9 10 11 Egnatia Odos Observatory • The INDICATORS OF SPATIAL IMPACTS monitored by the Observatory fall into three major groups: (a) Socio-Economic, (b) Environmental, and (c) Transport. The granites are per aluminous, calcic rocL· with S-type char­ acteristics. Geochemical features reveal that these rocL· are not co-genetic to the Iti ophiolite but they have been derived from magmas affected by a subduction compo­ nent.

    Neolithic society in Northern Greece: the evidence of ground stone artefacts Volume I Christina Tsoraki Thesis submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Department of Archaeology, University of Sheffield October 2008 to (j3en ABSTRACT Analysis of ground stone technology from the Neolithic of Greece rarely goes beyond incomplete descriptive accounts to focus on the activities performed with these tools and the contexts of their use. Ground stone products are seen as mundane static objects devoid of meaning and lacking significance. The aim of this thesis is to move away from incomplete accounts of ground stone technology and static typologies. Drawing upon the concepts of the chaine operatoire and 'object biographies' this thesis investigates ground stone technology as a social practice focusing on the life-cycle of artefacts from raw material selection to final deposition. The underlying premise is that a contextual approach can contribute to understanding the ways in which the production, consumption and discard of ground stone artefacts were structured within different forms and scales of social practice and the manner in which these differences articulated different meanings and social understandings. The aims of the thesis were materialised through the study of the rich ground stone assemblage from the LN settlement of Makriyalos, Greece. The analysis of the chaine operatoire of the Makriyalos ground stone assemblage revealed diverse technological choices expressed throughout the cycle of production and use. Established traditions existed according to which specific materials were considered to be appropriate for the production of different objects. Furthermore, detailed analysis suggests that the resulting objects were far from mundane artefacts but were instead active media for expressing choices informed by cultural understandings of appropriateness.

    Georgios Maroulis & Rea Artelari A floristic report from Mount Erimanthos (NW-Peloponnisos, Greece) Abstract Maroulis, G. & Artelari, R.: A floristic report from Mount Erimanthos (NW-Peloponnisos, Greece). — Fl. Medit. 15: 109-120. 2005. — ISSN 1120-4052. A list of 117 vascular taxa new to Mount Erimanthos (NW Peloponnisos, Greece) is presented, based on recent field work. Notes on collection localities and species habitats are provided. 6 taxa are Balkan endemics and 6 Greek endemics. 7 taxa are new to Peloponnisos and one is characterized as Rare. Introduction This paper deals with 117 new reports for the vascular flora of Mt Erimanthos and is complementary to Maroulis & Artelari (2001) in which 473 taxa new to this mountain are presented. All the above taxa are included in a PhD Thesis, concerning the flora and vege- tation of Erimanthos, which was carried out the first author (Maroulis 2003) at the Botanical Institute of Patras University. Information on the geology and the topography of Mt Erimanthos is given in Maroulis & Artelari (2001). The topographic map of the study area is presented in Fig. 1. References to the flora of Erimanthos are found in Halácsy (1900-1904, 1908, 1912), Barbero & Quezel (1976), Strid (1986), Strid & Tan (1991, 1997, 2002), Tan & Iatrou (2001) and Maroulis & Artelari (2001). Scan floristic data are also to be found in other sources unrelated to the flora of the mountain. Material and methods The study is based on collections, field observations carried out by the first author dur- ing the years 1997–2002, as well as on herbarium material of the Botanical Museum of Patras University (UPA).

It covers 29 kilometers, on tracks that run through verdant forests and across 12 bridges. Tip: Return tickets are 18€ for adults and 10€ for kids. Located in the main square of Millies, the actual construction date of the church is unknown. However, it was renovated in 1741.

CHONDROPOULOS ABSTRACT: The systematic status and the geographical distribution of the 30 snake taxa occurring in Greece are presented. Compared to lizards, the Greek snakes show a rather reduced tendency to form subspecies; from the total of 21 species listed, only 5 are represented by more than one subspecies. No endemic species has been recorded, though at the subspecific level 8 endemisms are known in the Aegean area. Many new locality records are provided. KURZFASSUNG: Der systematische Status und die geographische Verbreitung der 30 in Griechenland vorkommenden Schlangentaxa wird behandelt. Verglichen mit den Eidechsen zeigen die Schlangen in Griechenland eher eine geringe Tendenz zur Ausbildung von Unterarten; von ins- gesamt 21 aufgeführten Arten sind nur 5 durch mehr als eine Unterart repräsentiert. Keine endemi- sche Art wurde bisher beschrieben, obwohl auf subspezifischem Niveau 8 Endemismen im Raum der Ägäis bekannt sind. Zahlreiche neue Fundorte werden angegeben. KEYWORDS: Ophidia, Checklist, Greece INTRODUCTION The Greek snake fauna consists of 21 species belonging to 4 families: Typh- lopidae (1 species), Boidae (1 species), Colubridae (14 species) and Viperidae (5 species). Sixteen species are either monotypic or each one is represented in Greece by only one subspecies while the remaining rest is divided into a sum of 14 subspecies.
