Fünf Reptilienarten {Lacerta agilis, Anguis fragilis, Lacerta vivipara, Natrix natrix, Vipera berus) sind für das Spätquartär des Untersuchungsgebietes anhand von Fossilbelegen nachgewiesen. Die neuzeitliche Herpetofauna des Urals begann sich im späteren Pliozän herauszubilden. Die gegenwärtige Reptilfauna entwickelte sich im mitt- leren Holozän, mit der Rückkehr der Reptilien aus den eiszeitlichen Refugialräumen. Die Gebirgsketten des Urals sowie die Tätigkeit des Menschen hatten auf die Ausbildung der gegenwärtigen Kriechtierfauna der Region keinen bedeutenden Einfluß. ABSTRACT The history of the Quaternary reptilian fauna of Bashkortostan (South Urals, Russia) is described and the development of climate, landscapes and vegetation are briefly reviewed. The article considers the earth dam of the run-of-river unit – Kuibyshev hydroelectric power station on the Volga river (Russia). The main parameters of the earth dam, peculiarities of its erection and operation are described. The article notes the importance of ensuring a high degree of reliability of water structures constructed near major cities. It is especially important to monitor the condition of retaining structures with long service life. The factors influencing the change of the initial design conditions of operation of the Kuibyshev run-of-river unit dam are discussed. The results of examination of the geometric parameters of the body of the dam, performed at different periods of its maintenance, are analyzed. Examination results revealed significant deviations of the elevation marks of the earth dam surface on the upstream side from the design values. Possible causes of the discrepancy between these parameters and the design solutions are considered. The conclusion is drawn that the most likely reason for these features of the dam design lies in the initial incompleteness of construction. The measures for carrying out repair work to improve the reliability of the earth dam are being recommended. 1 Introduction At present, ensuring reliable operation of retaining water structures is a very urgent requirement for both operating enterprises and design organizations [1, 2]. -

Schoch, Stuttgart With 4 plates and 54 textfigures Abstract Mastodonsaurus giganteus, the most abundant and giant amphibian of the German Letten- keuper, is revised. The study is based on the excellently preserved and very rieh material which was excavated during road construction in 1977 near Kupferzeil, Northern Baden- Württemberg. It is shown that there exists only one diagnosable species of Mastodonsaurus, to which all Lettenkeuper material can be attributed. All finds from other horizons must be referred to as Mastodonsauridae gen. et sp. indet. because of their fragmentary Status. A sec- ond, definitely diagnostic genus of this family is Heptasaurus from the higher Middle and Upper Buntsandstein. Finally a diagnosis of the family Mastodonsauridae is provided. Ä detailed osteological description of Mastodonsaurus giganteus reveals numerous un- known or formerly inadequately understood features, yielding data on various hitherto poor- ly known regions of the skeleton. The sutures of the skull roof, which could be studied in de- tail, are significantly different from the schemes presented by previous authors. The endocra- nium and mandible are further points of particular interest. The palatoquadrate contributes a significant part to the formation of the endocranium by an extensive and complicated epi- pterygoid. -

Thenkabail Received: 5 June 2016; Accepted: 17 October 2016; Published: 23 October 2016 Abstract: The paper discusses our studies of oil pollution in the Black and Caspian Seas. The research was based on a multi-sensor approach on satellite survey data. A combined analysis of oil film signatures in satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and optical imagery was performed. Maps of oil spills detected in satellite imagery of the whole aquatic area of the Black Sea and the Middle and the Southern Caspian Sea are created. Areas of the heaviest pollution are outlined. It is shown that the main types of sea surface oil pollution are ship discharges and natural marine hydrocarbon seepages. For each type of pollution and each sea, regions of regular pollution occurrence were determined, polluted areas were estimated, and specific manifestation features were revealed. Long-term observations demonstrate that in recent years, illegal wastewater discharges into the Black Sea have become very common, which raises serious environmental issues. Manifestations of seabed hydrocarbon seepages were also detected in the Black Sea, primarily in its eastern part. The patterns of surface oil pollution of the Caspian Sea differ considerably from those observed in the Black Sea. They are largely determined by presence of big seabed oil and gas deposits. -

Environmental Problems of Agricultural Land Use in the Samara Region
DOI: 10.22616/j.balticsurveying.2019.010 ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS OF AGRICULTURAL LAND USE IN THE SAMARA REGION Zudilin Sergey, Konakova Alyona Samara State Agricultural Academy, Russia Abstract The zones of ecological trouble cover about 15% of the territory of Russia, where the main production capacities and the most productive agricultural lands are concentrated. The Samara region is characterized by a distinct natural zonality from a typical forest-steppe in the North with a forest cover close to 30%, to an open dry steppe in the South with a natural forest cover of only 0.1...0.2%. The article presents an analysis of land use in the Samara region on the example of the Borsky municipal district. Research methods include environmental analysis and statistical data analysis.The article presents an analysis of the land use of the Borskiy municipal district. During zoning, the territory of the district is divided into the northern, central and southern parts. Assessment of environmental and economic parameters showed heterogeneity of the territory and the need for detailed consideration of climatic, soil, economic conditions in the design of landscape optimization systems, even in the municipal area. In general, the district's land fund experiences an average anthropogenic load, the ecological stability of the territory as a whole is characterized as unstable stable. In comparison with other areas of the Central MES, the municipal Borskiy district belongs to the category with an average ecological intensity with a stabilization index of 0.59 units due to the beneficial influence of the Buzuluksky area. Saurischian dinosaur Stegosaurus-plated dinosaur Pteranodon -flying reptile Ichthyosaurus-fish reptile Cynognathus -mammal –like reptile Family tree of reptiles Archaeopteryx LABYRINTHODONTS • Labyrinthodonts are the most ancient amphibians known, as well as the first vertebrates to have walked on land, having evolved from their fish ancestors during the Devonian period. • Labyrinthodont (Greek, "maze-toothed") is an obsolete term for any member of the extinct superorder (Labyrinthodontia) of amphibians, which constituted some of the dominant animals of Late Paleozoic and Early Mesozoic times (about 350 to 210 million years ago). • The name describes the pattern of infolding of the dentine and enamel of the teeth, which are often the only part of the creatures that fossilize. • They are also distinguished by a heavy solid skull (and therefore often named "Stegocephalia"), and complex vertebrae, the structure of which is useful in older classifications of the group. • The labyrinthodonts flourished for more than 150 million years. Particularly the early forms exhibited a lot of variation, yet there are still a few basic anatomical traits that make them fairly easy to recognise. Paleobiology: • The early labyrinthodonts where mostly aquatic, hunting in shallow water or weed filled tidal channels. They were short-legged and large headed, some could be up to four meters long. • Their skulls were massive, and their jaws were lined with small, sharp, conical teeth. Also, there was a second row of teeth on the roof of the mouth. In their way of living labyrinthodonts were probably similar to fishes - they laid eggs in the water, where their larvae developed into mature animals. -

The article is devoted to spatial and temporal variabilities of the river runoff on the example of the river Ural within the territory of the Russian Federation. The author points out the necessity of investigating fluctuations in the water resources of a transboundary river for the purposes of long-term water management planning. Using the coefficient of variation and asymmetry, the annual runoff variability is analyzed. 1 Introduction The rational use of water resources requires reliable data on the long-term variability of the quantitative characteristics of the river runoff. In this respect, it becomes necessary to conduct research on studying the multiannual runoff dynamics of individual river systems. Given the increasing volumes of water consumption, special relevance is attributed to identifying the trends in river runoff variations. While determining long-term changes in the water content, special attention is paid to the annual and maximum discharges [1]. The annual average throughflow values are used for identifying the river runoff rate, which serves as the basis of long-term water management planning. The data related to the absolute values of the maximum throughflow is needed primarily for preventing negative implications – the formation of floods, the water-logging of settlements, and the damaging of hydrotechnic facilities. The subject of research comprises the selected segments of the upper and middle reaches of the river Ural, including the meridional section within the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Chelyabinsk Region (the upper reaches of the river Ural) and the latitudinal section of the river in the Orenburg Region (the middle reaches). -

LowTi and highMg sheeted dikes and volcanic rocks vary from basalt to andesite, and many varieties belong to boninite series. The rocks of this type extend as a 600km tract. The volcanic rocks contain chert interbeds with Emsian conodonts. Plagiogranites localized at the level of the sheeted dike complex and related to this complex genetically are dated at 400 Ma. The ophiolites make up a base of thick island arc volcanic sequence. The composition of the igneous rocks and the parameters of their metamorphism indicate that subduction and ascent of a mantle plume participated in their formation. The nonstationary subduction at the intraoceanic convergent plate boundary developed, at least, from the Middle Ordovician.
