Burns Harbor About ArcelorMittal Burns Harbor: 2019 data ArcelorMittal Burns Harbor, the company’s second largest U.S. facility, is a fully integrated steelmaking facility located on Lake Michigan in Northwest Indiana, 50 miles southeast of Chicago. The location allows for prime shipping with excellent access to the Great Lakes, railroads and highways, for both inbound requirements and outbound shipments. It is the only steelmaking facility in the U.S. that is bordered on two sides by a national park. Burns Harbor primarily serves the automotive industry. Other key markets include appliance, construction, energy, line pipe, machinery, railcar, service centers and shipbuilding. Principal products made at this location are hot-rolled, cold-rolled and coated sheet products and carbon and alloy heat treated plate.
