Week 16 continued the trend of close games, as three games were decided in overtime. Twenty games have gone to overtime this season, the fifth-most in a season since overtime was instituted in 1974.

The DENVER BRONCOS have played in three overtime games this season, the most of any team, and have won all three. The last teams to go 3-0 or better in overtime in a season were the 2011 Broncos (3-0) and the 2011 (4-0).

 @NFLhistory: @Chiefs are 2nd team in @NFL history with 9-game win streak in same season in which they lost 5 in row (1986 Jets)

The defeated Cleveland 17-13 for their ninth consecutive victory and clinched a postseason berth, improving to 10-5.

The Chiefs, who had a five-game losing streak earlier in the season, joined the 1986 as the only teams in NFL history with a nine-game winning streak and a five-game losing streak in the same season.

New Orleans DREW BREES passed for 412 yards and three in the Saints’ 38-27 win over Jacksonville.

The performance marked Brees’ 13th career game with at least 400 passing yards, tied with Pro Football Hall of Famer for the second-most in NFL history.

San Francisco ANQUAN BOLDIN had five catches against Detroit. Boldin (1,004) reached 1,000 career receptions and is the 13th player in NFL history to accomplish the feat.

Boldin, Arizona’s (Week 13) and Dallas’ (Week 13) all reached the 1,000- catch mark this season, marking the first time in NFL history three players recorded their 1,000th career reception in the same season.

 @RLiuNFL: is the 1st player in NFL history with 30+ pass TDs & 8+ rush TDs in a single season

Carolina quarterback CAM NEWTON rushed for a – his eighth of the season – against Atlanta in Week 16.

Newton, who has thrown 33 touchdown passes this year, is the first player in NFL history with at least 30 touchdown passes and eight rushing touchdowns in a single season.
