NOTABLE VETERANS ACQUIRED BY LICHT IN TAMPA BAY Over the past two seasons, Licht has transformed the Buccaneers defense with a combination of draft picks and free agents. Shaquil Barrett, signed during the 2019 free agency period, had a breakout year for Tampa Bay, etching his name into the franchise record books and earning the first Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors of his six-year career. He became the first player in team history to lead the NFL in sacks after posting a franchise-record 19.5 in 2019, while tying for first in the NFL with 37 quarterback hits, ranking second in the league with 19 tackles for loss and finishing third with six forced fumbles. His 19.5 sacks are the most in a season by an undrafted player since sacks became an official statistic in 1982. , who was acquired off waivers from Cleveland in 2018, quickly earned the respect of his peers, being named a defensive captain in 2019.
