was an active community member in the Boothbay Region, he enjoyed many civic duties in the community and served as a Boothbay Selectman from 1993 – 2008. During his time as a Selectman, he was always dedicated and pleased to answer questions and make decisions for the best interest of the people of the Boothbay Region. Ross also served as a constable for the town at times, was a volunteer fireman for the Town of Boothbay and was an active member of the Boothbay Civic Association (BCA) for many years. He enjoyed helping with the 4th of July chicken barbecue on the common and could often be seen working overnight at the BCA bean hole suppers preparing the beans. Ross was a photographer and safety officer. He would often be seen reporting to fires or accidents in his bright orange 1973 Corvette. Ross enjoyed antique cars and worked at restoring the 1947 Chevy fire truck at the Boothbay Fire Station to its original specifications. In his younger years Ross spent 2 years as a Navy SeaBee, 5 years in the reserves and he was active in the American Legion. He moved to Boothbay in 1987 after retiring from his business as an auto mechanic in Framingham, Mass. Ross worked at the Boothbay Home Center which now houses the fire department. He later went on to work at Roger’s Auto Repair as a mechanic (now Dan’s Auto Repair) and later worked at the Boothbay Railway Village in the Auto Museum and Gift Shop. Ross loved the Boothbay Community and his services to the Town. He was a loyal, honest, outgoing advocate for the community. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him! TOWN OF BOOTHBAY In Memory Of Henry C. Rowe 7/6/1932 – 10/9/2020 Boothbay lost yet another loving soul on October 9, 2020. Henry was a long time resident of Boothbay, spending tireless years giving back to the community he so loved. His encouraging talks on career development to Boothbay Region High School students, serving as Treasurer and co- founding the folk choir at the local Catholic Church and being Chaplain at the American Legion showcase a few of his many civic accomplishments. He also funded “The Woodchucks”, a community based group that provides firewood to local people in need. Former Governor LePage cited “The Woodchucks” for their community spirit. Henry also spear- headed a fundraiser for construction of the Boothbay Town Office, providing the community a central location for its business affairs. Henry’s commitment and great belief in a higher education allowed others the opportunity to further themselves in the proper direction for success. He was eager to always be remembered as much more than just

Aware of horrendous histories of Aboriginal murder, dispossession and pitying understanding at the hands of settlers, writers are worried about the effects of raced representation; and are always concerned to identify those texts which might be labelled racist. In order to make such a search meaningful, though, it is necessary to take as axiomatic certain propositions about the functioning of films: that they 'mean' in particular and stable ways, for example; and that sophisticated reading strategies can fully account for the possible ways a film interacts with audiences.

    International Studies Quarterly (2010) 54, 335–359 Dealing with Tyranny: International Sanctions and the Survival of Authoritarian Rulers1 Abel Escriba`-Folch Universitat Pompeu Fabra and IBEI (Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals) and Joseph Wright Pennsylvania State University This paper examines whether economic sanctions destabilize authoritar- ian rulers. We argue that the effect of sanctions is mediated by the type of authoritarian regime against which sanctions are imposed. Because personalist regimes and monarchies are more sensitive to the loss of external sources of revenue (such as foreign aid and taxes on trade) to fund patronage, rulers in these regimes are more likely to be destabilized by sanctions than leaders in other types of regimes. In contrast, when dominant single-party and military regimes are subject to sanctions, they increase their tax revenues and reallocate their expenditures to increase their levels of cooptation and repression. Using data on sanction episodes and authoritarian regimes from 1960 to 1997 and selection-corrected survival models, we test whether sanctions destabilize authoritarian rulers in different types of regimes. We find that personalist dictators are more vulnerable to foreign pressure than other types of dictators. We also analyze the modes of authoritarian leader exit and find that sanctions increase the likelihood of a regular and an irregular change of ruler, such as a coup, in personalist regimes. In single-party and military regimes, however, sanctions have little effect on leadership stability. During his inaugural address in 2005, US President George W. Bush proclaimed that ‘‘it is the policy of the United States to seek and support the growth of dem- ocratic movements and institutions in every nation and culture, with the ultimate goal of ending tyranny in our world.’’2 The general goal of ending tyranny has been shared by many of Western advanced democracies since the end of the Sec- ond World War.

Fifteen species of the camaenid land snail Amplirhagada, which are endemic to the Kimberley region in Western Australia, are newly described in the present work based on material collected in 1987 during the Kimberley Rainforest Survey of the then Dept. Conservation and Land Management, Western Australia. These species were listed previously as new discoveries under preliminary species identifications but have never been validly described. All of them were collected in rainforest and vine thicket patches across the Kimberley, where they generally occur as narrow-range endemics. The species are most typically characterized by a peculiar penial anatomy while other morphological structures, such as the shell or radula, provide characters less or not suitable for unambiguous species identification. Three manuscript taxa listed as potentially new are here preliminarily subsumed under an already described taxon, A. carinata Solem, 1981. By contrast to all other species treated herein, A. carinata has a fairly large distribution around the Walcott Inlet in the Southwest Kimberley. This taxon also reveals a comparatively large amount of morphological variation not only with respect to the shell but also to its genital anatomy.
