Atrás dele seguia um colorido papagaio, seu fiel companheiro. - Craaah, craaah! Onde será que os guardaram? Talvez por este lado? – gritou o papagaio, até que exclamou: – Já vi! É aqui! Entraram num gabinete espaçoso com uma grande secretária, onde se destacava um enorme monitor 21:9 ligado a uma PS4PRO. Num dos cantos via-se uma estante com uma PS3, uma PSVita, e caixas e caixas de jogos! Noutro canto via-se um pinheirinho de Natal com algumas prendas, assim como o muito desejado embrulho do CARTÃO OFERTA PLAYSTATION, em que Kratos, GT Driver, AstroBot e Sackboy convidavam à diversão. A placa na secretária era indesmentível: Jorge Loureiro, Editor. O misterioso vulto acercou-se do embrulho, arrebatando-o de uma assentada enquanto deixava um cartão de visita. Disse gritando: - Vamos! ◊◊◊ Sully lia o jornal na companhia da Elena e do seu velho amigo, que tomavam o café da manhã. - Drake, olha só isto! Ontem à noite houve um assalto na Eurogamer.pt! – exclamou Sully. - A sério? E o que levaram os bandidos? Fizeram muitos estragos? – Perguntou Nathan Drake, enquanto se empanturrava com uma torrada! - Aí é que está o mistério. Não fizeram qualquer estrago, e a polícia nem consegue perceber por onde é que entraram. Nada estava arrombado, e a porta de entrada estava devidamente trancada como havia sido deixada. Uma das janelas estava aberta, mas a não ser que o ladrão voasse não a conseguiria alcançar devido à altura e à ausência de pontos onde se agarrar! – respondeu Sully. - E o que levaram? - perguntou novamente Drake. - Ah, pois. Isso também é estranho! Apenas os CARTÕES OFERTA PLAYSTATION do concurso que eles estão a promover! Todos os equipamentos topo de gama que eles têm foram deixados intactos! – respondeu Sully. – E na cena do crime foi deixada um misterioso cartão de visita! - Vá lá! Assim a perda não foi elevada! - disse Drake. Mas então a Elena, que até então havia estado pensativa, interrompeu intempestivamente: - Estás a brincar, só pode! E então todos aqueles fervorosos leitores do Eurogamer.pt, que estão neste momento a escrever as suas histórias para participar no concurso? Que vai ser do Natal deles quando souberem que foi tudo em vão??? Nathan e Sully olharam ainda espantados com a reação de Elena. Não muitas vezes a tinham visto assim, e sabiam que o que ela dissesse a seguir era lei! Assim nem se atreveram a contestar quando ela continuou: - Temos de encontrar os responsáveis e recuperar o que foi furtado! Sully valendo-se dos seus contactos conseguiu que chamassem a inspectora para falar com eles. - Carmelita, há quanto tempo? – exclamou calorosamente, embora não tenha obtido a mesma reacção da outra parte. - Victor Sullivan, vejo que conseguiste manter-te fora da prisão. – disse Carmelita Fox – Estranho que apareças por aqui a perguntar por mim. Que precisas desta vez? - Ouve, apenas precisamos de saber pormenores acerca do roubo. Queremos ajudar a descobrir os culpados... Sully dizia estas palavras quando foi interrompido pela Carmelita: - E eu sugiro que deixem a investigação para os verdadeiros profissionais: A Polícia! De qualquer forma, o ladrão está identificado, e esta noite iremos apanhá-lo assim como aos seus amigos no seu quartel general. - Mas quem foram os autores? – perguntou Drake. - Oh, nada mais nada menos do que o peneirento do Sly Cooper e o seu gangue. É tão estúpido que não se absteve de deixar o seu cartão de visita, com uma cara de guaxinim, como se nós não o fossemos imediatamente reconhecer! – exclamou Carmelita. O Sully e o Drake ficaram horrorizados. Era impossível que os seus amigos do Gangue Cooper fossem cometer tão vil crime, eles que sempre actuaram com honra e dignidade. Aquilo não podia ser verdade e teriam que os ajudar. ◊◊◊ Já havia anoitecido quando os nossos amigos chegaram às imediações do quartel general do Gangue Cooper. - Não podemos ser vistos. – disse Drake – De certeza que a polícia já vigia todas as saídas, e só aguarda a chegada da inspectora Carmelita Fox para dar início à operação. - Sim, eu sei. – disse o Sully – Mas nós sabemos algo que eles não sabem: uma das entradas secretas que o Gangue Cooper nos ensinou, para quando precisássemos. - E esse dia chegou! – acrescentou Elena. Drake conduziu o veículo para fora da estrada em direcção a uma formação rochosa no meio das árvores. Ao chegar parou o carro e pontou para uns arbustos que ocultavam uma passagem na rocha: - Vamos, ajudem a abrir o caminho! Sully resmungou enquanto saía do carro com Elena: - Olha lá, quem é que te pôs a ti no comando? Pensava que tu é que eras o músculo! Sully e Elena rapidamente voltaram a cobrir a entrada da caverna depois do carro ter entrado, e juntaram-se a Drake. Não haviam passado mais de dois minutos quando avistaram os seus amigos que também vinham ao seu encontro. Eram eles a tartaruga Bentley que é o cérebro do gangue, o hipopótamo Murray que é o músculo do gangue, e o guaxinim Sly Cooper que é o último membro de uma antiga família de honrados ladrões e que apenas rouba a outros criminosos. Depois de todos se cumprimentarem Sully tratou de introduzir o porquê de ali estarem. - Ontem à noite o escritório da Eurogamer.pt foi assaltado! - E o ladrão deixou um cartão de visita com a tua cara, Sly. - acrescentou o Drake. - Já viram que o vosso quartel general está cercado pela Polícia? – perguntou a Elena. - De facto os meus sensores detectaram muita actividade policial nas redondezas nas últimas horas. – confirmou o Bentley. - Então vamos a eles! – exclamou o Murray, enquanto batia com os punhos. - Não! – disse o Sly – Só há uma forma de procedermos que é descobrir os verdadeiros culpados, e assim limparmos o nosso nome. E só há um bandido capaz de se dar ao trabalho para me incriminar! Clockwerk, o Bufo-Real, que substituiu todas as partes do corpo por peças mecânicas de forma poder viver eternamente e perseguir a minha família! - Sim, mas de certeza que isto é uma armadilha para te atrair Sly. – disse o Bentley – não sei se é prudente irmos. - Mas... vocês acham mesmo que é ele? Nós destruímos o chip do ódio, e as peças dele começaram a deteriorar-se. – disse o Murray. - Só pode ser ele. Deve ter arranjado uma nova forma de voltar para destruir a família Cooper! – exclamou o Sly – Vamos já para o vulcão Krakarov, enfrentar de novo a minha Némesis! ◊◊◊ Murray pilotava o helicóptero enquanto os passageiros observavam o vulcão pensado nos perigos que iriam enfrentar. Penetrou no gigante cume negro e aterrou bem lá no fundo, onde o Clockwerk e o seu fiel papagaio Arpeggio já os esperavam. - Estava à tua espera Sly. Vejo que para além dos patetas do Gangue trazes mais reforços contigo. – disse Clockwerk na direcção de Sly enquanto sorria de forma maquiavelicamente confiante. - Nathan Drake, muito prazer! – disse o Drake. - Eu sou a Elena e este é o Sullivan. Daqui a pouco vais-te arrepender de nos teres conhecido! – acrescentou a Elena. - E não fujas patife! Venho aqui para limpar o nome da minha família e te derrotar para sempre! – exclamou Sly. - Já chega, Sly Cooper! Isto termina aqui. Vou acabar contigo tal como acabei com o teu pai. Então, a linhagem dos Cooper chegará ao fim e o único mestre ladrão será o Clockwerk! Então a batalha começou. Os nossos heróis lutavam de forma corajosa com Clockwerk mas sentiram que algo estava diferente. Acho parecia estranhamente errado. Por mais golpes que aplicassem nas peças mecânicas do malvado Clockwerk, pareciam que não lhe causavam qualquer dano. Aos poucos Clockwerk começou a cansá-los e a levar a melhor sobre eles. Um por um foram sendo golpeados e parecia que nada mais os poderia salvar. Arpeggio, que até então se mantivera afastado da batalha, exclama entusiasmado: - Contemplem, imbecis, o poder da Corrupção! Clockwerk agora é invencível, e vocês ides todos perecer perante o seu poder! Eis então que quando já tudo parecia perdido algo inesperado aconteceu. Descendo pela cratera montada numa portentosa máquina que relembrava um majestoso búfalo chega Aloy a Caçadora de Máquinas! Rapidamente disparou uma rajada de flechas flamejantes sobre Clockwerk que recuou parecendo sentir dor. - Rende-te máquina diabólica. Encontrei a tua assinatura com o meu Foco e posso ver que tresanda de Corrupção. Onde encontraste esse poder antigo? – gritou Aloy. Aos poucos a surpresa inicial de Clockwerk foi-se transformando em raiva, e este regressou à batalha. - Este poder foi-me dado, e não será uma miúda que me irá derrotar! – gritou Clockwerk. Aloy prosseguiu o combate, sabendo bem que a Corrupção só podia vir de Hades, e pensando no que aquilo significava. Os ataques com a lança de Aloy eram temíveis, assim como as flechas flamejantes do seu arco, deixando Clockwerk vulnerável. Os outros heróis acorreram a ajudar Aloy, e todos juntos foram provocando cada vez mais dano em Clockwerk até que a máquina ficou imóvel. Fora finalmente derrotada. Então ouviu-se a voz de Arpeggio a chamar bem alto: - Rápido Hades, ajuda-nos ou será o fim do Clockwerk e a ruína do nosso acordo. Vê-se então uma força misteriosa e brilhante a aproximar-se e a invadir o Clockwerk, voltando-lhe a dar vida com um estrondo eléctrico que derrubou os nossos heróis deixando-os temporariamente paralisados. - Eu sou invencível! – gritou o Clockwerk – Contemplem o poder de um deus! E todos eles olharam atemorizados e indefesos.

    Ludic Dysnarrativa: How Can Fictional Inconsistency In Games Be Reduced? by Rory Keir Summerley A Thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the University of the Arts London In Collaboration with Falmouth University December 2017 Abstract The experience of fictional inconsistencies in games is surprisingly common. The goal was to determine if solutions exist for this problem and if there are inherent limitations to games as a medium that make storytelling uncommonly difficult. Termed ‘ludic dysnarrativa’, this phenomenon can cause a loss of immersion in the fictional world of a game and lead to greater difficulty in intuitively understanding a game’s rules. Through close textual analysis of The Stanley Parable and other games, common trends are identified that lead a player to experience dysnarrativa. Contemporary cognitive theory is examined alongside how other media deal with fictional inconsistency to develop a model of how information (fictional and otherwise) is structured in media generally. After determining that gaps in information are largely the cause of a player feeling dysnarrativa, it is proposed that a game must encourage imaginative acts from the player to prevent these gaps being perceived. Thus a property of games, termed ‘imaginability’, was determined desirable for fictionally consistent game worlds. Many specific case studies are cited to refine a list of principles that serve as guidelines for achieving imaginability. To further refine these models and principles, multiplayer games such as Dungeons and Dragons were analysed specifically for how multiple players navigate fictional inconsistencies within them. While they operate very differently to most single-player games in terms of their fiction, multiplayer games still provide useful clarifications and principles for reducing fictional inconsistencies in all games.

In an industry often criticised for its lack of in-game diversity, it’s all too easy to find evidence that the white, heterosexual male is still very much the default hero setting. In fact, a survey of recent games found that while straight males and females account for 66% and 31% of characters respectively, the number of LGBT+ characters is just under 3% of the total 1. Such a low figure is perhaps surprising given that LGBT+ representation in gaming has a long and colourful history dating back more than three decades. Onkin tärkeää, että niitä tutkitaan muun muassa sukupuolten representaatioiden osalta. Aiemmat tutkimukset osoittavat varsinkin naispelihahmojen olevan seksualisoituja vartalon ja vaatteiden osalta, sekä määrältään aliedustettuja ja toissijaisissa rooleissa esiintyviä. Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää, millaisia sukupuolten representaatioita menestyspelistä Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End löytyy, ja vertailla niitä muissa videopeleissä ja yleisesti mediassa esiintyviin sukupuolten stereotyyppeihin. Tutkimuksessa keskityttiin kahteen pelin keskeiseen hahmoon, Nathan Drakeen ja Elena Fisheriin, ja aineistona toimivat pelin videokohtaukset. Aineisto kerättiin pelaamalla peli läpi ja hyödyntämällä YouTube-sivustoa. Tutkimusta lähestyttiin multimodaalisesta perspektiivistä, ja aineistoa tarkasteltiin lingvistisestä, narratiivisesta, sekä visuaalisesta näkökulmasta. Tutkimustulokset
