1 Dear Friends,

Welcome to Venice to the 13th Congress on Human Reproduction.

The congress has been dedicated to the leading figure of Luigi Mastroianni, a master in science and a great teacher extending his education not only to American gynaecologists but also to those working all over the world.

The congress will focus on new aspects in contraception, induction of ovulation, assisted procreation technologies and all other areas of reproductive medicine starting from genetics and stem cells until menopause.

Great attention has also been devoted to specific topics greatly developing in these last years such as cryopreservation and vitrification for gametes preservation, in vitro maturation of oocytes and new horizons in gynaecological endocrinology and gynaecological oncology. Strategic areas such as endometriosis, sexual medicine, menopause and polycystic ovary disease will be largely discussed. The congress, structured with plenary lectures and plenary sessions, has been also enriched by seven round tables and 11 free communication sessions and by the presence of specific symposia organized by the Portuguese Society of Reproductive Medicine, the International Society of Gynaecological Endocrinology, the Italian Society of Embryology Reproduction and Research, the International Society of Psychosomatics Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

The congress will be concluded by a discussion on the importance of National and European Registries in Assisted Reproduction Technologies.

Last but not least being March 8th the Woman’s Day there will be a session in Italian, open to all venetian citizens on “Ethical aspects of Human Reproduction: from contraception to assisted procreation”.

Wishing you a successful and fruitful work on behalf of the Academy of Human Reproduction.
