We love to have children in worship, but we also understand that sometimes Summer Evening Prayer and Communion kids (and parents!) need a break. Stop by our church’s nursery (near the Will summarize and celebrate the insights expressed in the monthly bathrooms) and say hi to Sydney! The nursery welcomes children from birth Bible studies and Sunday worship. Weather permitting, will be held outdoors.

You may sign up to sponsor altar flowers in honor of or to memorialize loved ones, or celebrate a special event. Envelopes are available on the bulletin board. Cost is $35. Lake Superior Day is always the third Sunday in July – Lake Superior Day was started in the early 1990s by a group of Thunder Bay residents who sought to celebrate the body of water that dominates and defines our region. As stewards of God’s creation we recognize we need to take care of the lake and all that flows into it. The lake provides income, respite, transporta- tion, recreation, and food for us. We are thankful! The Maritime Visitor Center will have free half-hour tours at the Duluth Ship Canal at 1:15 and 3 p.m. Sunday. The center’s renovated exhibit on the Edmund Fitzgerald plus a new rip current kiosk with live monitor showing cur- rent conditions on Park Point’s beach can be viewed. Then from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., enjoy free family fun with live music, boat tours, kids’ activities, informational booths and food vendors. Plus visit the Lake Superior Estuarium and take a guided tour of the new $800,000 renovations on the Barker’s Island inner beach. In the Twin Ports, Lake Superior Day/s wraps up with a 25th anniversary celebration at the Large Lakes Observatory’s Old Main research laboratory, 2205 E. 5th St., Duluth. LLO does research around the globe, but its freshwater mission focus- es on Lake Superior, and this Sunday the public gets a chance to tour its laboratories, discuss the research with the scientists plus grab a great barbecue supper with the researchers. The celebration runs 4-7 p.m. – a great way to end Lake Superior Day and gain more bragging knowledge about our Big Lake. 4-7 p.m. Sunday (July 21), UMD Old Main, 2205 E. 5th St.
