Supplementary Reports: Canterbury Park Wednesday 19 August 2020 Race 1 – Hyland Race Colours Handicap 1200m: Sacred Captain – Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the death of the gelding. A necropsy report from the University Teaching Hospital Camden found that the gelding suffered exercise-associated sudden death as a result of cardiorespiratory failure. Stewards considered veterinary treatment records provided by trainer Mr J. Sargent. A post-mortem urine sample taken from the gelding returned a negative result to all prohibited substances. Having considered the veterinary evidence from Racing NSW Club's Veterinary Officer, Dr Toby Koenig, along with the necropsy report and the stable's veterinary and treatment records, the Stewards determined that Sacred Captain displayed no identifiable pre-existing condition that may have led to its death.

Gosford 28 August 2020 Race 7 – Adam Duggan Racing CG&E Benchmark 64 Handicap 1200m: Winning Brothers – Trainer Mr P. Robl reported that he was satisfied with the post-race condition of the gelding, but advised that it will barrier trial prior to its next race start.

Rosehill Gardens 29 August 2020 Race 1 – Everest Carnival in Sale Handicap 1500m: Steel Diamond – Trainer Mr R. Worthington reported that he was satisfied with the post-race condition of the mare, but reiterated his intention to spell Steel Diamond.

Race 2 – TAB Highway Handicap 1400m: Scaleo – Trainer Mr K. Dryden reported that he was satisfied with the post-race condition of the gelding.

Race 5 – TAB San Domenico Stakes 1100m (Group 3): Doubtland – Co-trainer Mr M. Hawkes reported that he was satisfied with the post-race condition of the colt. ______

20200902WF 2

Stylebender – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Raced greenly under pressure in the straight. Trainer Mr B. Heys was advised that a warning would be recorded against the colt with respect to its pre-race behaviour.

Alighted – On jumping bumped with Miravalle. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Covent Garden – Laid out rounding the home turn.

Latin Lyric – Slow to begin.

Miravalle – Raced greenly under pressure in the straight.

RACE 2: Frosted @ Darley Handicap 1100m: Sixgun – Began awkwardly.

Joviality – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Kaakit Akit – Shifted out under pressure inside the 100m.

Glaciers – Slow to begin. When asked to explain the poor performance of the filly, rider R. King stated that the filly travelled only fairly through the early and middle stages and did not accelerate as expected when asked for an effort, however, finished off the race fairly in her view. R. King added that in her opinion the filly will benefit from the first-up performance and appreciate being stepped up in distance at its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 3: Bowermans Commercial Furniture Handicap 1000m: Akasaki – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. For some distance approaching the 600m raced in restricted room to the inside of Damaged.

Biscara – As the start was effected turned its head to the nearside, resulting in the mare beginning awkwardly and losing ground.

Damaged – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Rider G. Boss reported that the colt jumped awkwardly and shifted out shortly after the start, however, was able to secure a trailing position behind Aeecee Vinco a short distance later and travelled well. He added that when placed under pressure rounding the home turn his mount accelerated well, however, commenced to tire sooner than expected and proved disappointing in the run to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be displaying cardiac arrhythmia. Stable representative Mr D. Beadman was advised that a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG will be required before Damaged having to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

RACE 4: Sky Racing Active Handicap 2400m: Home Ground – When asked for an explanation regarding the disappointing performance, App. B. Griffiths stated that the gelding travelled well but was under pressure immediately when the tempo increased passing the 600m and proved one-paced in the run to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Red Hot Chillypins – Began awkwardly.

Little Arnie – Began awkwardly and bumped with Notabadidea.

RACE 5: Hyland Race Colours Handicap 1600m: Bentley Magic – Had difficulty securing clear running in the early part of the straight.

Carluca – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn until the 250m. When asked for an explanation regarding the tactics adopted today, which appeared to be in contrast to its most recent start at Warwick Farm on 12 August 2020, J. Collett informed Stewards that he was instructed to ride the gelding with cover and from the wide barrier was obliged to settle towards the rear of the field in order to comply with his instructions. Trainer Mr J. Austin informed Stewards that the gelding did not finish off the race as expected when ridden prominently at its last start and today he instructed J. Collett to ride Carluca with cover in an endeavour to have it close off the race strongly. After considering the explanations provided, Stewards did not take any direct action other than to remind Mr Austin of his obligations to inform Stewards of any change of tactics.

Miyake – Began awkwardly.

Nothing Too Hard – Slow to begin and from a wide barrier then was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Emanuela – Slow to begin and then bumped with Miyake, which shifted in. Rider B. Avdulla could offer no explanation for the mare's performance today. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

All Tiara – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Silent Agenda – Leaving the 1100m had to be steadied from the heels of Gemmahra (App. L. Day), which shifted in when not quite clear, App. Day was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. Silent Agenda then overraced and refused to settle despite the efforts of its rider until near the 800m.

RACE 6: @ Vinery Handicap 1300m: General Soho – Began awkwardly and was crowded between Military Academy and Herzegovina, which was taken out by Aftermath.

Bartley – When asked about the tactics adopted, which resulted in the colt settling towards the rear of the field, which appeared to be in contrast to its normal racing pattern, rider J. McDonald stated that he was instructed to ride the colt prominently, however, from his wide barrier, when it appeared several runners to his inside were pushing forward, he elected to restrain his mount to a position towards the rear of the field.

Celer – Slow to begin. Overraced in the middle stages. Held up and unable to improve rounding the home turn. Leaving the 100m had to be steadied from the heels of Aftermath when that runner was taken out by Return With Honour (N. Rawiller), which shifted out under pressure. N. Rawiller was advised to exercise more care and to stop riding and straighten his mounts sooner than he had done on this occasion.

Nerone – When asked to explain the disappointing performance, rider J. Collett stated that after taking a trailing position behind the leader, Return With Honour, in the early stages his mount travelled well, however, when asked for an effort rounding the home turn Nerone failed to respond and proved disappointing in the run to the finish. J. Collett added that whilst he could not offer any tangible explanation for the horse's disappointing run, he believed it would take benefit from its first-up performance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. 20200902WF 4

Hay Bale – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Military Academy – Overraced in the middle stages.

Return With Honour – Slow to begin.

RACE 7: TAB Handicap 1300m: High Low Bet – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Laid out under pressure in the straight.

Phemonoe – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Karaja – Approaching the 1100m had to be steadied momentarily from the heels of Willowheart, which shifted in but then was corrected quickly by its rider. When asked to explain the reasons he did not place his mount into a run to the inside of Willowheart sooner than he did, App. B. Ryan stated that shortly after entering the straight he observed Willlowheart shift outwards, which presented a run to its inside. He added that he observed rider J. McDonald also attempting to shift Willowheart back to the running rail and, therefore, he was reluctant to proceed into that run. He added that when he observed In A While, which was racing back and to the outside of Willowheart, tiring, he attempted to move Karaja to the outside of Willowheart to secure clear running. He further added that when Willowheart continued to shift out, he placed Karaja into clear running to the inside of that runner leaving the 150m. After considering his explanation, Stewards informed App. Ryan that whilst it was acknowledged that J. McDonald's actions were that of a rider attempting to correct his mount and resume a position on the running rail, when this did not eventuate for some distance he should have placed Karaja into that run sooner than he did on this occasion.

Twice As Special – After jumping, was placed awkwardly on the heels of Karaja after being bumped by Carte Blanche. Overraced in the early and middle stages. For a short distance leaving the 1200m raced in restricted room between Satin Rain and Carte Blanche, which shifted in. When asked to explain the poor performance, App. L. Day stated that the mare was forced to race in restricted room in the early stages and as a result commenced to overrace and continued to do so throughout the early and middle stages. She added that rounding the home turn Twice As Special was held up on the heels of High Low Bet and shortly after straightening was disappointed for a run to the inside of that runner when Majella shifted out and secured that run. She added that given the difficulties, Twice As Special endured during the event, she was satisfied with the mare's overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Majella – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Held up and unable to improve rounding the home turn.

Carte Blanche – On jumping was bumped by Our Revenue, which was taken in by In A While.

In A While – Began awkwardly, then shifted in abruptly and bumped Our Revenue. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame (3/5) in the near-foreleg. Trainer Mr C. Waller was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required before In A While is permitted to race/barrier trial again.

20200902WF 5

Our Revenue – On jumping was bumped when In A While shifted in abruptly. Approaching the 1100m became awkwardly placed on the heels of Carte Blanche for a short distance and had to be steadied.
