Designed by Paragon Architects, Protea Place is characterized by its cutting-edge design and sculptural form, partnered 3D Cutout – 9th Floor with superior building technologies. Office Plate The building consists of seven parking levels and nine office levels. Which rise above the visible parking podium.

The basic footprint of the building is composed of two towers enclosing a central atrium, set atop of the base of the SKYLIGHTS parking levels.

The central atrium has east and west ATRIUM facing glass walls. The eastern atrium wall VOLUME 9 OFFICE FLOORS opens up over a water feature allowing pedestrians to enter the building by crossing the water surface.

The internal atrium was designed to admit generous amounts of natural light into the building and its office plates and WATER provides active awareness of both the 7 PARKING LEVELS FEATURE interior and exterior environments of the building.

Project Summary GE Brazil Technology Center is one of nine GE research centers globally and one of five outside the U.S. The new R&D center in Rio is approximately 250,000 square feet, of which half is devoted to lab space.

I was contracted as BIM Consultant to elaborate the As Built MEP Model to be incorporated to the Existing Architectural Model done by Athie Wohnrath Architects. We used the consultants technical drawings and the equipment specification to generate the model and equipment library. We created each building as a separate Model and linked them together in the site model.

The 3D BIM Model for MEP specialties for each Beaufortbuilding Ridge included 11 project disciplines excluding Residentialonly architecture and civil engineering. Among those 11 disciplines the most complex packages were HVAC, Fire protection, Electric and Water plumbing but we also modeled CFTV System, Gas distribution, automation system etc.

All the Equipment and automation devices were modelled in, the Equipment data was incorporated to the families and types in Revit, and a BIM Equipment Library was generated to 3D CUT OUT 3D CUT OUT 3D CUT OUT help on the future facility management. Fire protection and Special gases HVAC system firefighting system distribution system I was responsible for the consulting and modeling process of each specialty. The level of detail, LOD, established for MEP was 300 but when that was not achievable specially due to equipment manufacturer lack of BIM information, a minimum of at least 200 was allowed.

Due to the nature of the Laboratory use, selected systems in certain areas were designed to be critical mission and never stop working in case of public supply interruption or equipment damage, to comply with that requirement most systems and equipment's have backups and different types of sensors to identify malfunction.

Project Summary:

Discovery is a insurance company that covers over 5.1 million clients with substantial new business growth.

Discovery previous Head Office was designed by Paragon Architects but as their businesses grew a larger building was needed. In the market there was no offer for a building of that proportion so a new Head Quarters was designed by Boogertman Architects exclusive for them, this time Paragon Interface was assigned to do the Interior Design of this one of the largest single tenant Buildings in the southern hemisphere.

It is also one of the most innovative developments in South Africa and has become the largest Green Star Africa-certified new-build project to date.

Photos of Interior Design

As per Boogertman Architects words:

…“The building is visually dynamic in its sensual and inviting forms that were generated from carefully sculpted interior spaces within which Discovery’s people, employees and clients come together in an environment that fosters innovation, collaboration. Thus encapsulating the company’s core purpose of making people healthier, enhancing and protecting their lives.” Construction Photo . Discovery Health Head Office

All Drawing Packages delegated to me were previously designed and I was responsible to coordinate the construction drawings by adding the services and talking to the various engineers to accommodate each specialty.

Drywalls, shopfronts and ceilings were related packages that were coordinated together in order to avoid any clashes and the BIM model was essential to visualize their interactions.

The work was challenging in scale and time pressure as so much material was spent that at times, all the stock of determined material in the country was used.

Project Summary

The Hotel Site is located in the city of Luanda in the new development axis towards SouthHotel TchyssayLuanda.

The first hotel design finished in 2011 was initially to comply with the operational demands of Rezidor Group. 1st to 5th Floor Guestrooms We developed a scheme focused on business tourism with 170 guestrooms, as part of the strategy to offer best service for business clients we allowed for a full service hotel with all day dinning restaurant, scotch bar and gym, as well as a 600sqm conference center including meeting and conference rooms, separate reception area and printing facilities.

The conference component has complete conference structure Hotel Tchyssay including exclusive reception desk and printing service, 6 meeting rooms with 10 seats, 2 conference rooms with up to 20 places that can be subdivided and a conference room with up to 35 seats to accommodate larger corporate events.

It has an outdoor terrace on the 4th floor , which was designed to house outdoor activities.

The conference center is connected directly to the Mezzanine floor restaurant that can be rented exclusively to corporate events. Lower Ground Floor Plan Upper Ground Floor Plan Mezzanine Floor Plan 1st to 5th Guestroom Floor Plan

The hotel has 165 standard suites and 5 luxury suites with living room and balcony. It was designed to incorporate prefabricated structures with the same dimensions of maritime containers. Facilitating the import and transport, shortening construction time and allowing the accuracy of finishing. Each container has two bedrooms of approximately 23m² and a central corridor. All internal finishes are factory-installed and pre- fabricated facades are " clipped " in the structure after mounted . This technology was adequate due to the repetitions of the guestroom units. The remaining areas of the hotel are designed in Perspective of pre-fabricated Unit conventional structure . Beaufort Ridge Residence
