Rovněţ bych chtěl poděkovat Lence Sentenské, Evě Líznarové, Pavlovi Šebkovi a Stanovi Korenkovi za podporu a cenné rady všeho druhu. 3 ABSTRAKT Koexistence a rozdělení niky pavouků rodu Philodromus V této diplomové práci byl zkoumán mechanismus umoţňující koexistenci mezi Philodromus albidus, P. aureolus a P. cespitum. Studie probíhala na území významného krajinného prvku U Kříţe v Brně Starém Lískovci. Studované území se skládá ze třech typů biotopů: listnatý les, křoviny a monokultura švestek. Pavouci byli získáváni pomocí sklepávání. U zkoumaných druhů byly porovnávány různé dimenze niky. Prostorová nika byla zkoumána na základě mikro- aţ makrobiotopových preferencí. Trofická nika byla zkoumána na základě velikosti a typu přirozené kořisti a pomocí laboratorních experimentů potravních preferencí. Časová nika byla zkoumána na základě fenologie jednotlivých druhů. Studované druhy se lišily v prostorové a trofické nice. -

This was studied from September 2015 to July 2019. A total of 18 family, 52 genus and 80 species were recorded. Araneidae is the most dominant family among all followed by the silicide family. The main aim of this study is to bring to known the species which is generally observed by the humans in this area. Beside seasonal variation in species is higher in summer season as compared to winter. Also many species were observed each year in same season repeatedly during the study period, further maximum number of species is seen in vegetation type of habitat. Introduction As one of the most widely recognized group of Arthropods, Spiders are widespread in distribution except for a few niches, such as Arctic and Antarctic. Almost every plant has its spider fauna, as do dead leaves, on the forest floor and on the trees. They may be found at varied locations, such as under bark, beneath stones, below the fallen logs, among foliage, [23] house dwellings, grass, leaves, underground, burrows etc. (Pai IK., 2018) . Their success is reflected by the fact that, on our planet, there are about 48,358 species recorded till now according to World Spider Catalog. -

College, Barasat, Kolkata – 700124, India a,b,cE-mails: [email protected] , [email protected] , [email protected] ABSTRACT The present study is on the spider fauna of Nongkhylem Wildlife Sanctuary (NWS), Sohra (Cherrapunji) [included within East Khasi Hill District], Umsning (Ri Bhoi District) and their surrounding tea estates (Anderson Tea Estate, Byrnihat Tea Estate and Meg Tea Estate) of Meghalaya, India. A total of 55 species belonging to 36 genera and 13 families are sampled. Newly recorded taxa include four genera and 11 species of Araneidae, six genera of Araneidae, each represented by single species. The species recorded under Tylorida Simon and Tetragnatha Latreille of Tetragnathidae and Camaricus Thorell and Thomisus Walckenaer of Thomisidae are found to be new from the state. Also, three oxyopids and one miagrammopid are new. So far, Linyphiidae, Pisauridae, Sparassidae and Theridiidae were unknown from the state. Out of 55 species, 13 are endemic to India and thus exhibiting a high endemicity (23.6%). A family key of the State Fauna is provided along with relevant images of the newly recorded species. A total of 40 species of spiders belonging to 36 genera and 11 families were recorded during the study from January - April, 2016. The species were identified using keys for Indian spiders from (Tikader, B. K. 1970). Methodology included active searching at all layers from ground level to tree canopy layer accessible easily for hand collecting and visual surveys. This is the documentation and to report the spider Nilgiris and their microhabitat preferences from The Nilgiris, Tamilnadu. Such surveys are vital for conservation of these creatures and building a biodiversity database of this mega diverse group from a fragmented forest ecosystem in the Nilgiris, India. -

ABSTRACT: A total of 13,662 individuals were collected in the 4 districts of northeastern U.P., viz. Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Maharajganj and Siddharthnagar belonging to 75 morphospecies out of which 62 were identified upto species level. The most dominant family was Araneidae (31 species) followed by Tetragnathidae, 10 species; Salticidae, 9 species; Lycosidae, 8 species; Thomisidae, Clubionidae and Theridiidae each 3 species; Oxyopidae, Pholcidae and Gnaphosidae each 2 species and Sparassidae and Hersiliidae each 1 species. Following species were most dominant in occurrence: Tetragnatha javana (6.41%), Oxyopes javanus (6.40%), Pardosa pseudoannulata (6.35%), Pardosa birmanica (6.06%), Tetragnatha mandibulata (5.56%), Hippasa holmerae (5.14%), Tetragnatha maxillosa (4.79%), Hippasa partita (4.61%), Araneus ellipticus (4.37%), Camaricus formosus (4.36%), and Lycosa mackenziei (4.09%). It demonstrated that 31.39% of the total collections were observed in Siddharthnagar district followed by Maharajganj (25.89%), Gorakhpur (21.97%) and Kushinagar (20.74%). Orb weabers (44.34%) formed the most dominant guild followed by ground runners (28.8%), Stalkers (16.58%), foliage runners (4.86%) and ambusers (4.76%) which were less common in the study area while very few specimens of space builders (0.67%) were caught in the study area. Bose Road, Kolkata-700 020 INTRODUCTION Information on feeding behavior of araneid spiders is lacking from Darjeeling Hills of West Bengal. Tikader (1961) made an observation on spider weavers as a trap hunter in their orb-web. Tikader (1982) in his observation on nest building behavior of araneid spider from India mentioned the prey capturing purpose also. Majumder (2001) recorded some important notes on spider nest by which odonates were caught. Talukdar and Majumder (2006) studied some interesting observations on web-building, food and feeding behavior of four araneid species of the genus Argiope and Neoscona. During early monsoon of the year 2006 while carrying out an extensive behavioral studies on spiders of Darjeeling hills the authors came across an araeneid spider Argiope pulchella Thoerll was displaying its feeding behavior on its orb web built near a hill stream of Tindharia. The present paper deals with the details of the sites where the spider builds it's web for trapping insects as their prey is also included the food and the diverse pattern of feeding habits of Argiope, the places it stays near the web while retract, the morphological structure and measurements of the spider and its prey, the time span it needs to capture the prey and digestive mechanism along with the biological significance regarding the advancement of predatory behaviour.
