Synopsis: Hakeem and Jamal continue their feud, while, from his sickbed, Lucious endeavors to hold an investor showcase for Empire Entertainment. Guest stars Naomi Campbell and Courtney Love.

Scenes from previous episodes. Jamal punches Hakeem in the stomach. When Sway asks Homosexuality Jamal on TV if he has someone special in his life, Jamal's boyfriend Michael is upset to hear Violence him say there's no one. Lucious is administered an experimental drug to aid with his life­ Industry Related threatening condition. Physical Illness

Lucious oversees the construction of an Investor Showcase for Hakeem. Vernon brings up Homosexuality the return of Olivia, Jamal's "baby mama," who Cookie thinks is trouble. Olivia claims she Domestic Abuse wants a father for her kid. She was living with "some dude who put his hands on her, so she Sexual Dialogue got an order of protection." Cookie is upset Lucious forced Jamal to marry Olivia when he Language was 18 (even though Jamal is gay). Cookie doesn't believe the baby is Jamal's: "You gotta Physical Illness have sex to make a baby!" Lucious is squinting, looking somewhat unwell. Anika meets them all at the elevator, telling Lucious about the upcoming showcase. Lucious meets Andre in the boardroom, who tells them Terry Shiller, a major fund manager, would be the ideal prospect to attend the showcase and invest in the company. Andre suggests appealing to Terry through his love of family. Cookie reminds them that Jamal and Hakeem can't stand to be in the same room ­­ they won't perform together. Cookie starts venting again about Olivia, "the stupid­ass back­up singer," until Lucious suddenly passes out and falls to the floor.

Opening credits.

Cookie walks with Lucious as the EMTs load him into an ambulance. She and Anika argue Physical Illness over who gets to ride with him, but after a moment Lucious gives the nod to Anika.

Jamal tries to convince his boyfriend Michael to stay, but Michael is packing up to move out. Homosexuality He's upset Jamal told the whole world there's no one special in his life, and is upset and Sexual Dialogue confused about Jamal possibly having a daughter. Jamal insists, "The kid can't be mine, I slept with the girl once!" "But once is all it takes." Michael thinks Jamal loves his music and doesn't have room for anyone else. He leaves.

Andre and Rhonda meet Terry Shiller for drinks and dinner. Andre tells Terry that Lucious Alcohol Use can't make it, giving the reason as a plane delay. (Lucious doesn't want his investors to Physical Illness know he's ailing.) He hands Terry a phone so Lucious can talk to him. Terry tells Lucious he'll hear Andre out, but he isn't sure he'll invest in an entertainment company, thinking they're too volatile. Lucious insists Terry at least attend the showcase to see what they're about. Terry agrees.

Hakeem has wine and dinner with Camilla (guest star Naomi Campbell), who is not charmed Alcohol Use by him. He hands her a box with a gold necklace that has his name on it inside. She is Industry Related offended, upset that he wants to brand her but won't be seen with her in public. "I'm not Sexual Dialogue your backstreet slut!" She brings up Tiana but he insists she meant nothing to him. Camilla Language asks about his next performance, and he offers to put her on the VIP list as a private investor.

The doctor comes in to see Lucious, who wants to see Dr. Mason instead. The doctor tells Brand Mention him Mason had his license revoked "for doing to another patient what he's trying to do to Industry Related (2) you." Lucious says, "He's saving my life!" The doctor tells Lucious he's in the early stages of Physical Illness liver damage: "That isn't ALS. That charlatan's drugs are doing this." Lucious insists he's doing better, claiming it's a Russian breakthrough and the FDA is behind the curve. The doctor insists there's no cure for ALS, and Mason is lying to him, poisoning him and taking his money. He screams at her to get out. Cookie arrives outside, but isn't allowed in since she and Lucious are divorced. She looks through the window and sees him sweaty and suffering, in pain.

Break 1 @ 11:00. Andre and Anika lead a board meeting where Empire's sports management division reports Brand Mention they've repped six first­round NBA picks. Andre is pleased. He wants to lead with sports at Drug Reference the showcase, but Lucious, on speaker phone from his bed at home, insists they start with music. Andre clearly doesn't agree but has to defer to his father. Anika announces Hakeem and Jamal will open on the main stage, but Lucious wants Elle Dallas, the first success on the label after himself, who will have sentimental appeal to the crowd. Anika has heard Elle is an addict, but Lucious trusts Cookie, who says Elle is in good shape.

Hakeem and Jamal rehearse a song, but start arguing over whose turn is whose. Cookie yells Language at them both to get along for one night, while Andre is off working his ass off to secure the Physical Illness future of the empire Lucious built for them all. Lucious enters and backs up Cookie. He tells the boys to take a break, and Cookie asks Lucious why he's out of bed. He insists he's fine.

Becky tells Malcolm the elevator is stuck. He gets it moving. When the door opens, Olivia's daughter is standing there. She says, "I lost my mommy."

Break 2 @ 15:00.

Malcolm tells Cookie, Lucious, Hakeem and Jamal that Olivia left her daughter alone in the Child Neglect building. Hakeem taunts Jamal for being a daddy. Jamal storms off. Cookie tells Lucious it's his fault. Malcolm tells Lucious the little girl is safe with Becky for now.

Michael pulls up to see Jamal in a Lincoln Town Car. They drive off together. Brand Visible

Cookie waits at the studio for Elle, who is running late and is unreachable. One of the band Drug Reference members suggests, "Try her dealer." Elle (Courtney Love) shows up and announces she's Offensive Stereotype "clean," but she's been with Empire so long she's on "CP time" (colored people time). Elle joins the band and performs a song.

Becky entertains Olivia's little girl in the office. Jamal enters and greets them nervously. He Homosexuality goes in to see Lucious, who is on the phone trying to hire Gordon Ramsay for his restaurant. Celebrity Reference Lucious tells Jamal to thank Becky for watching his daughter. Jamal reminds him the marriage to Olivia was a sham. Lucious argues that it was a smart thing for Jamal's career, "the same thing you did on the radio." He says he respects Jamal for the decision. Jamal tells Lucious that Michael left. Lucious isn't sorry he's gone. He tells Jamal he'll find somebody who understands what it's like to be an artist. He asks Jamal if it's possible the girl is his daughter. "Yeah." Lucious tells him Vernon is out looking for Olivia. He offers to take the girl in, in the meantime.

Break 3 @ 20:00.

Hakeem and Jamal perform at the showcase as investors drive up in Lamborghinis and Brand Visible (2) Bentleys. Vernon escorts Elle inside as the crowd cheers. He introduces Elle to Marvin Brand Mention Mitchell, an investor who is a big fan. Elle greets Anika on the way in. Vernon tells Anika Illegal Activity that Elle is doing fine so far and said she wanted to go to an NA meeting with him. Inside, Drug Use Lucious meets potential investors over cocktails. Becky tells him one woman present is a Tobacco, Nicotine reporter for . Elle sits down with Cookie, telling her she doesn't want Alcohol Use to let her down. Cookie goes to check on her sons. Anika comes over to talk to Elle. When a Drug Reference fan asks Elle to pose for a picture, Anika slips some kind of drug into Elle's drink, which Elle Language comes back over to sip, unexpecting. Andre notices that Hakeem brought Camilla. Lucious Offensive Stereotype asks Becky about Camilla, and goes over to talk to her, having been told she's an investor. Soon, Elle is in the bathroom, lighting a cigarette and reeling from the effects of whatever Anika slipped into her drink. Cookie finds her and takes the cigarettes away. She realizes Elle is high. Elle insists she didn't take anything, but Cookie loses her temper, calling Elle a "junkie" and heading off to tell Lucious she can't perform. Jamal is upstairs in the dressing room with Hakeem, who is watching Lucious and Anika flirt. He calls Hakeem "rude­ASS" and tells him to sit his ASS down. Cookie bursts in to tell Lucious about Elle being high. "I knew I couldn't trust a junkie to stay clean." Lucious tells Hakeem and Jamal to get over their beef and go floor the investors. The brothers reluctantly shake hands and embrace.

The roomful of investors applauds over cocktails as Lucious comes out to introduce his bad­ Brand Mention ASS artists, Hakeem and Jamal, who perform a song together. Jamal sings the hook to the Alcohol Use song, which is a sample from the song "Money For Nothing" which references MTV. Cookie, Industry Related Anika, and Andre watch from backstage, drinking champagne. Hakeem raps, "We move Language more records than the Beatles." Terry Shiller looks impressed. Lucious gets sick during the Celebrity Reference performance, starting to cough. He pulls Cookie aside to tell her he lost his voice. He has to Physical Illness give a speech, but he can't. Anika offers to do it, but Andre wants the honors. Lucious asks Cookie to do it.

Break 4 @ 31:00.

Cookie goes out to address the roomful of investors, all of whom are drinking cocktails. Alcohol Use Anika tells Lucious she wants to sue Dr. Mason, but he tells her this wasn't the drugs, it was Industry Related a kind of tremor from his ALS. Cookie takes to the podium and gives the speech on behalf Language of Lucious and the company. She jokes that her ex­husband is a crazy son of a bitch with a Celebrity Reference dream that no one can get between. She talks about how Lucious began as a hustler, Physical Illness creating supply­and­demand with his music [though she makes it sound vaguely as if she's talking about the drug trade]. Cookie promises the room that Lucious will make profit for them if they invest in the company. She commends her sons with Lucious ­­ Andre, Hakeem and Jamal ­­ and how Empire is a dream come true. Lucious loves the speech, though neither Andre nor Anika look too happy about it. Later, Terry tells Lucious how impressive the family was. Anika is headed to Chicago to meet with Lana Del Rey on company business, and she checks in with Lucious before leaving. Cookie finds Lucious and asks him to tell her what's going on.

Break 5 @ 37:00.

Jamal hands little Lula to Cookie, who is talking with Lucious and Malcolm about the Violence security at the estate. Cookie asks Malcolm to call her to help beef up the security, adding Language "because I live alone," suggestively. When he leaves, Lucious sits down with Cookie, Andre, Sexual Innuendo Rhonda, Hakeem and Jamal to tell them all that he's sick with ALS, a neuro­muscular Mental Illness disorder of which tonight's tremor was a symptom. It's fatal and there's no cure. He tells Physical Illness them the company is his legacy to his family. Andre asks who else knows. Lucious tells him Becky, Vernon, and Anika. Andre is worried about the IPO, which upsets Hakeem enough to start pushing him angrily. Andre threatens to beat his ASS. Andre storms out angrily. Rhonda follows after apologizing. Lucious takes Hakeem and Jamal aside to talk to them about it. He tells them they need to be strong. He then asks for a moment with Cookie, who didn't take the news well. Elsewhere, Andre is sitting in the shower with his clothes on, in freezing water. He's having a panic attack. Rhonda slaps him into focus.

Cookie has a glass of wine with Lucious. He compliments her speech and all the nice things Sexual Situation she said about him. She gets emotional and tells him he needs to beat his illness because Alcohol Use she doesn't want to lose him. They stand up, and he asks her to dance as they listen to a Physical Illness song he recorded, about her. They start kissing. Soon, they are kissing in his bedroom, undressing as they go. Anika returns early from her trip and walks in on the two of them in bed together (no nudity, just movement under the covers). She doesn't say a word and they don't know she saw them.
