Nije potrebno govoriti o vremenu kada je nastao ovaj Festival. Mislim da smo svi svjedoci njegovih teških godina i njegovog prko- snog i ponosnog uzdizanja. Iz godine u godinu rastao je gosteći brojna poznata imena i skrećući pažnju na ovaj pomalo zanema- reni dio Evrope.

Preko ovog Festivala, Crna Gora je izrazila želju da se iz izolovanosti vrati u svijet, a svijet je dolazeći na Festival dokazao da je prihva- tio ideju rođenu u Baru da podstiče saradnju ex-yu prostora, jugoistočne Evrope i svijeta. Ideja rođena u pravo vrijeme i ne slučajno na pravom mjestu - u Baru, gdje je bila prva stara prijestonica Crne Gore u XI vijeku, gdje je ostvarena i prva radio veza Crne Gore sa svijetom, od Bara do Barija, a time i demonstrirana tehnika koja je dovela do stvaranja televizije.

Danas, jedanaest godina kasnije, u godini povratka samostalnosti Crne Gore, TV Festival u Baru, slavi novi početak, u novoj-staroj državi, sjajeći starim intenzitetom, čvrsto pozicioniran na medijskoj mapi svijeta. Ovaj Festival je najbolja potvrda naših opredjelje- nja da Bar i Crna Gora idu putem svjetskih i evropskih integracija.

Internacionalni TV Festival našao se na listi svjetski poznatih manifestacija ovog žanra. Zato sam ponosan što Bar okuplja najveće televizijske stanice i produkcijske kuće iz regiona, Evrope i svijeta. Tako uspostavljamo nove programske i institucionalne veze među televizijama u skladu sa tradicijom Bara kao multikulturalne zajednice i primjera viševjekovnog suživota ljudi različitih kultura, vjera i nacija.

Zadovoljstvo mi je da vas pozdravim u ime grada domaćina Festivala.

NEW DECADE – NEW BEGINNING

It is not necessary to talk about the time when this Festival was established. I believe that we have all been witnesses of its trying years and its defiant and proud rise. Year in, year out, the Festival grew, becoming the host of many renowned people and drawing attention to this somewhat neglected part of Europe.

Through this Festival, Montenegro expressed its wish to come out of the isolation and go back to the world. The world, by coming to the Festival, proved that it accepted the idea conceived in Bar – to incite the co-operation in the area of former Yugoslavia, South East Europe and the world at large. The idea was conceived in the right place and at the right time. This was not by chance. Bar was the first, old capital of Montenegro in XI century and here the first radio connection of Montenegro with the world was established – from Bar to Bari. This demonstrated the technology that eventually led to the creation of television.

Today, eleven years later, in the year when Montenegro regained its independence, TV Festival is celebrating the new beginning in new – old state, radiating the old intensity, firmly positioned on the world media map. This festival is the best proof of our orientation for town of Bar and Montenegro to go towards world and European integrations.

International TV Festival has found its place among world renowned events of this type. That is why I am proud to see Bar gathering the largest TV stations and production houses of the region, Europe and the world. In this way, we establish new programme and institutional relationships between televisions in line with the tradition of Bar, being multicultural community and an example of century-old coexis- tence of people of different cultures, religions and nations.

Uvodna riječ

Televizijski festival Bar - 2006. jedanaesti je od osnivanja, ali i prvi u nezavisnoj i međunarodno priznatoj Crnoj Gori gdje su svi učesnici i autori dobrodošli.

Grad Bar i Crna Gora zahvalni su svima koji su u minulom desetljeću stvarali i uzdizali festival. Barska TV smotra bila je i ostala svojevrsna poruka svijetu, da Crna Gora ima snagu i senzibilitet da okupi ugledne stvaraoce i da ih primi otvorene duše. Vjera u mogućnost drugačije televizije od one koja je dominirala ovim prostorima u vrijeme raspada bivše SFRJ i pod teretom rata u okruženju, pokazala se opravdanom. Namjera osnivača da preko Festivala uspostave pokidane veze među televizijama u regionu, da razbiju medijsku blokadu i da sa pozitivnim porukama izađemo u svijet pokazao se opravdanom: danas možemo konstatovati da je Internacionalni televizijski festival u Baru dobio međunarodnu afirmaciju i iskrene prijatelje širom svijeta. Mnogi od njih su zajedno sa pregaocima iz Crne Gore iskreno gradili ovaj festival, propagirali ga u svojim sredinama i dio sopstvenog autoriteta prenosili na Festival. Zato je ono jednako i njihov koliko naš. To je i jedan od razloga što je festival u Baru dobio svoje mjesto u lancu svjetskih tv festivala. Trudićemo se da opravdamo veliko povjerenje i ukazanu čast.

Foreword

This is the eleventh edition of the International TV festival Bar, but it is also the first one in the independent and internationally recognized Montenegro where all participants and authors are welcome.

The town of Bar and Montenegro appreciate all who had, in the past ten years, worked on and improved the festival. This TV review in Bar has been and still is the message to the world that Montenegro has strength and sensibility to gather renowned authors and welcome them with open arms. Belief in possibility to have television different from the one dominant in these areas in the period of dissemination of Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia proved to be justified. The intention of the founders was to re-establish, through the Festival, disrupted links between televisions in the region, eliminate media blockade and go into the world will positive messages. Today, we can say that the International TV festival Bar has gained international recognition and genuine friends from all around the world. Many of them have worked, along with hard-working enthusiasts from Montenegro, on the development and promotion of the Festival in their countries and have transferred part of their authority onto the Festival. This is why the Festival belongs both to them and us equally. This is also one of the reasons why the Festival in Bar found its place among world TV festivals. We will give our best to justify this great trust and honour rendered.

MIHA ČELAR (SLOVENIJA)

Režiser i scenarist. Autor dugometražnog igranog filma Amir ( sa njim učestvovao na više filmskih festivala). Scenarist i režiser 4 igrane serije na TVS i POP TV ( TV Dober dan, Čokoladne sanje, Trafika, Začnimo iznova). Autor više desetina video spotova, kratkih filmova i reklama u Sloveniji.

IVAN ANDREEVSKI (MAKEDONIJA)

Rođen 1947. u S. Dolenci. Oženjen i ima troje djece. Živi u Skoplju. Završio je Fakultet političkih nauka – novinarstvo u Beogradu. Po završetku studija, zapošljava se u Radio Televiziji Skoplje. Od 1986. do 1990. je direktor i glavni i odgovorni urednik na Televiziji Skoplje. Kao iskusan i renomiran novinar radi za svjetske novinarske kuće – Rojters, Slobodna Evropa, Jutel. Proveo jednu godinu u Parizu na RTF (Francuskoj Radio Televiziji). Dobitnik je nagrada «Mito Hadži Vasilev Jasmin», «Krste Misirkov», nagrađivan na JRT festivalima u Portorožu i Bledu. Mentor na Fakultetu za novinarstvo u Skoplju, kao i u Makedonskoj Radio Televiziji. Predsjednik udruženja novinara Republike Makedonije. Trenutno pomoćnik generalnog direktora na Makedonskoj Televiziji zadužen za programski dio.

ALEKSANDAR BEČANOVIĆ (CRNA GORA)

Rođen 1971. Filmski je kritičar ‘’Vijesti’’. Član je FIPRESCI – Međunarodnog udruženja filmskih kritičara. Prije dvije godine bio selektor festivala i član žirija. Objavio je četiri knjige poezije: Ulisova daljina 1994, Jeste 1996, Ostava 1998, Mjesta u pismu 2001 i jednu knjigu proze Očekujem što će iz svega proizaći 2005. Dobitnik je nagrade Risto Ratković za najbolju knjigu poezije 2002. godine. Objavljivao brojne članke u ARSU, PLIMI i drugim časopisima sa prostora bivše Jugoslavije.

IVAN ANDREEVSKI (MACEDONIA)

Born in 1947 in S. Dolenci. Married with three children. Lives in Skoplje. Graduated from the Faculty of political sciences in journalism in Belgrade. After graduating, started working in Radio Television Skoplje. From 1986 to 1990, he was a director and editor – in – chief in Television Skoplje. As experienced and renowned journalist, he works for world journalist houses – Reuters, Free Europe, Jutel. Spent a year in Paris in RTF (French Radio Television). Winner of the awards «Mito Hadži Vasilev Jasmin», «Krste Misirkov», awarded at JRT festivals in Portorož and Bled. Mentor at the Faculty of journalism in Skoplje and in Macedonian Radio Television. He is the president of Association of Journalists of Republic of Macedonia. Currently general manager assistant on Macedonian Television, in charge of programmes.

ALEKSANDAR BEČANOVIĆ (MONTENEGRO)

Born in 1971. He is a film critic for the newspapers ‘’Vijesti’’. He is a member of FIPRESCI – International Association of Film Critics. Two years ago, he was a selector of the Festival. He was also a jury member. He published four books of poetry: Ulysses’ distance 1994, Indeed 1996, The Closet 1998, Spaces in the letter 2001 and one book of prose I wander what will come out of it 2005. He is a winner of the award of Risto Ratkovic for the best book of poetry in 2002. He published many articles for ARSU, PLIMA and other magazines on the territory of former Yugoslavia.

11 12 13 NEVENKA REDŽIĆ TOTH (KANADA) Prof. mr. Nevenka Redžić Toth, filmski stvaralac, proizvela je 57 kratkometražnih filmova i bila je direktor fotografije u više od sto kratkometražnih filmova i videa, kao i u tri igrana filma. Ona je prva žena kinematograf u Srbiji i Crnoj Gori sa ma- gistarskom diplomom iz oblasti kinematografije i dalje je jedina Srpkinja koja je trenutno angažovana međunarodno kao direktor fotografije u igranim filmovima. Takođe je režirala 27 kratkometražnih filmova u Evropi i Sjevernoj Americi. Prof. Toth je diplomirala na renomiranoj Praškoj Akademiji FAMU Univerziteta gdje je i magistrirala u oblasti kinematografije. Već 19 godina predaje na evropskim i sjevernoameričkim univerzitetima. Nenini filmovi su dobili međunarodne nagrade i priznanja, od kojih je poslednje prva nagrada u eksperimentalnoj kategoriji za film ‘’Fantazmagorija’’ na Niagara Indie Filmskom Festivalu na Brok Univerzitetu u Kanadi.

MARINA SHKUROPAT (UKRAJINA) Rođena 1962 u Ukrajini. Nakon što je diplomirala na katedri za Engleski jezik i književnost, radila je deset godina kao profesor na univerzitetu. Potom je osam godina bila aktivna u međunarodnom biznisu. Završila je Holivudsku školu u Kijevu, Ukrajina. Od avgusta 2003, ona je novinar frilenser i piše za časopise o putovanjima i razonodi. Takođe je nezavisni producent i autor dokumentarnih filmova. 2004 – 2005, snimila je i producirala film “Druga Šansa ili On Ide sa Nama”. Učesnik na međunarodnim filmskim i televizijskim festivalima, kao što su festivali filmova i programa za djecu i mlade, festival ljudskih prava (Ukrajina, Rusija, Bugarska). Član međunarodnih žirija na međunarodnim festivalima (Bugarska). Trenutno radi na međunarodnom projektu – TV programu o djeci iz različitih zemalja, kultura i religija.

GÖTZ WEIDNER (NJEMAČKA) Rođen 1942. u Berlinu. Od 1958. živi u Minhenu. Nakon završene srednje škole 1961, počinje sa četvorogodišnjim školovanjem 1962. u Bavaria Film Studio, gdje stiže do položaja drugog filmskog stvaraoca 1966. godine. Zaposlen u ovom studiju do 1970. Od 1970, postaje frilanser, i radi za mnoge njemačke, francuske, britanske, italijanske i američke kompanije širom Evrope, Afrike, Sjeverne i Centralne Amerike. Ima svoj umjetnički studio u Minhenu. Oženjen od 1965 i ima dvoje djece.

DUBRAVKA VOJVODIĆ (SRBIJA) Rođena u Beogradu. Završila studije Opšte književnosti sa teorijom. Dugogodišnji filmski kritičar Radio Beograda (Beograd 202). Objavljivala filmsku kritiku u srpskim i crnogorskim dnevnim listovima, nedeljnicima i stručnim časopisima (Danas, Nin, Vreme, Evropa, Filmograf, Monitor, Vijesti, Polja, Publika, Gest). Radila u timovima međunarodnih filmskih festivala (FEST, Palić, TV Festival Bar, Međunarodni beo- gradski festival dokumentarnog i kratkometražnog filma). Bila član domaćih i stranih žirija (predsjednik žirija 50. Jugoslovenskog festivala dokumentarnog i kratkometražnog filma, član žirija FIPRESCI Kan (2006), Valensija (1991, 2003). Trenutno predsjednik Srpskog ogranka FIPRESCI.

DRAŠKO ĐUROVIĆ (CRNA GORA) Rođen 1962. u Podgorici, Crna Gora. Diplomirao na Odsjeku za filmsku i tv režiju na Fakultetu dramskih umjetnosti u Beogradu. Radio na Radio Televiziji Crne Gore - RTVCG, Radio Televiziji Srbije - RTS, Televiziji Politika. Realizovao muzičke spotove i promotivne filmove. Režirao igrani film ‘’Rođeni sjutra’’, ‘’Fotograf’’ i ‘’Specijalna jedini- ca’’, za koji je nagrađen na festivalu u West Palm Beach-u (Florida). Sada je savjetnik za film u Ministarstvu kulture Republike Crne Gore.

14 NEVENKA REDŽIĆ TOTH (CANADA) Prof. mr. Nevenka Redžić Toth, filmmaker, has produced 57 short films and was a director of photography in over a hundred short films and videos as well as three features. She is the first woman cinematographer in Serbia and Montenegro with a master’s degree in cinematography and is still the only Serbian woman currently working internationally as a director of photography in feature films. She has also directed 27 short films in Europe and North America. Prof. Toth is a graduate from Prague’s renowned FAMU University film school, where she has earned a master’s degree in cinematography. Her teaching experience includes 19 years in European and North American universities. Nena’s films have earned international awards and recognition most recent of which was the first prize in the experimental category for her film ‘’Phantasmagoria’’ at the Niagara Indie Film Festival at Brock University in Canada.

MARINA SHKUROPAT (UKRAINE) Born in 1962 in Ukraine. After graduating in English Language and Literature, she was teaching English at the University for ten years. Then, she was involved for eight years in the international business. Finished Hollywood School in Kyiv, Ukraine. From August 2003, she is a freelance journalist, writing articles for magazines on travel and leisure. Also independent producer and film author of documentaries. In 2004 – 2005, filmed and produced “The Second Chance or He is Going with Us”. Participant of International Film and TV festivals, including festivals of films and programmes for children and youth, festival on human rights (Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria). International Jury Member at International TV festivals (Bulgaria). Currently working at the international project of a TV programme about children belonging to different countries, cultures and religions.

GÖTZ WEIDNER (GERMANY) Born in 1942 in Berlin. Since 1958 lives in Munich. After finishing high school 1961, started 1962 a four year education at the Bavaria Film Studios to reach the position of 2nd Film Architect in 1966. Employee of the Studios till 1970. From 1970 freelancer, worked for many companies: German, French, British, Italian and American, all over Europe, Africa, North and Central America. Runs his own creative office in Munich. Mar- ried since 1965, two children.

DUBRAVKA VOJVODIĆ (SERBIA) Born in Belgrade. Graduated in General literature with theory. For many years a film critic of Radio Belgrade (Belgrade 202 ). She published film criticisms in Serbian and Monte- negrin daily newspapers, weekly newspapers and professional magazines (Danas, Nin, Vreme, Evropa, Filmograf, Monitor, Vijesti, Polja, Publika, Gest). She worked in teams of the international film festivals (FEST, Palić, TV Festival Bar, International festival of documentary and short film Belgrade). She was a member of domestic and foreign juries (the president of the 50th Festival of the Yugoslav documentary and short films, member of the jury FIPRESCI Cannes (2006), Valencia (1991, 2003). She is currently the president of FIPRESCI branch in Serbia.

DRAŠKO ĐUROVIĆ (MONTENEGRO) Born in 1962 in Podgorica, Montenegro. After graduating in film and TV directing at the Faculty of Drama Arts in Belgrade. He worked for Radio and Television of Montenegro (TVCG), Television of Serbia (RTS) and TV Politika. He made music and promotional videos. He directed films ‘’Born Tomorrow’’, ‘’Photographer’’ and ‘’Special Unit’’ awarded at the Festival in West Palm Beach (Florida). He currently works as a Film Advisor at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Montenegro.

19. jula 1906, prestolonasljednik Franc Ferdinand Habzburški je sa imperato- vim vozom upotrebio novu bohinjsku prugu po prvi put. Ovo je željeznica sa veličanstvenim brojkama: od Jesenica do Trsta, na pruzi dugoj 144 km, ima 168 mo- stova, među kojima je Solkan most najveći kameni most na svijetu; tu su 42 tunela od kojih je Bohinjski najduži - 6339 m; i 89 kontrolnih stanica. Najveći nagib Gorske Ljepotice iznosi 27,31%. Uspjeh ove nove transportne linije je bio prekinut Prvim svjetskim ratom praćenim crtanjem novih državnih granica. Ova pruga je kasnije obnovljena, ali je nakon par decenija, tokom Drugog svjetskog rata, ponovo bila u ruševinama. Danas se rijetko koristi, dok je dio između Kreplja i Opicine, na italijan- sko – slovenačkoj granici, poslednji put koristio voz 1991. Političari Slovenije i Italije mišljenja su da je Gorska Ljepotica stara, preskupa i da ima previše planinskog terena, dok stručnjaci željeznice obe zemlje smatraju da bi se ova linija efikasno i brzo mogla modernizovati. Ova linija je izuzetno lijepa, a predstavlja najkraću i najekonomičniju vezu luka Trst i Koper sa Centralnom Evropom. Da li je ova pruga suočena sa naglom smrću ili ponovnim napretkom?

On 19 July 1906, the heir to the throne Franz Ferdinand of Habsburg used the brand new Bohinjska line for the first time with the emperor’s train. It is a railway of majes- tic numbers: from Jesenice to Trieste, on a 144 kilometre line, there are 168 bridges, amongst which the Solkan bridge, the biggest stone bridge in the world, 42 tunnels, the Bohinjski being the longest with 6339 m and 89 control stations. The biggest slope of the Mountain Beauty is 27,31%. The success of this new transport line was interrupted by World War I, followed by newly drawn state borders. It was later renewed but after a couple of decades, during World War II, it was in ruins again. Today it hardly runs, while the segment between Kreplje and Opicina, crossed by the Italian – Slovene border, was last run by train in 1991. Politicians in Slovenia and Italy are of the opinion that the Mountain beauty is old, too expensive and too mountainous, while experts of the railway administration on both sides of the border claim that the line could be effectively and quickly modernised. It is extremely beautiful, the shortest and the most economical link of the ports of Trieste and Koper with Central Europe. Is it facing sudden death or another boom?

Odgovor zašto nalazi se u filmu, a u otkrivanju nespremnosti hrvatskih institucija da se uh- vati u koštac s integracijom potencijalnih azilanata pratili smo aktivnosti Centra za mirovne studije u istoimenoj kampanji.

In July 2004, Law on Asylum came into force in Croatia. In the following two years, 300 people sought asylum in our country. No one has obtained it still. The answer to the question “why” is in the film, where inability of Croatian institutions to deal with integra- tion of potential asylum seekers is revealed. Film follows the activities of Centre of Peace Studies and its campaign.

Every year, in a small village near Cacak, the number of inhabitants increases for hundreds of Romanian and Bulgarian citizens. They come in search of seasonal jobs that would provide them the existence in their own country. Each day starts the same, at the same place, where they wait for potential employers. There ends all friendship and struggle starts – struggle to be the chosen ones.

Baku in Azerbaijan, the site of the world’s first oil well, once again becomes the focus of foreign investors eager to exploit the country’s vast oil riches. “Source” traces the pipeline from our commuter highways back to this surreal and sinister landscape on which our way of life depends, where cows graze on polluted land and children play in toxic gauge. With three quarters of the population living under the poverty line, the country’s post – Soviet government is promising that the oil will turn Azerbaijan into a ‘real country’, a prosperous and flourishing ‘New Kuwait’. But between big oil companies like British Petroleum and the corrupt government lining their pockets, what does this mean for the ordinary people of Azerbaijan? Is this “liquid gold” more of a curse than a blessing for this troubled country?

Ljudi iz okolnih kafića i radnji mu daju nesebičnu podršku. Slogan na „predizbornom“ plakatu je „Mirko – pravi čovjek“...

Documentary film about Mirko, tobacco shop owner from Mostar who decided to run for at the forthcoming elections. Authentic man, pressed by hard economic crisis, dis- satisfied with the work of local politicians, initiated the campaign by placing his placard on the tobacco shop and started gathering 1500 signatures. The most interesting thing was that he was serious. All this under the creed “if they can do it, so can I; at least, I am not a thief”. Tall and skinny, “Mr. Moustache” does not give up and is stenuously gathering the signatures from his neighbours and other people. Although former prisoner of a concentration camp, he is not full of hatred. People from cafés and shops nearby support him wholeheartedly. Slogan of the pre – election campaign placard is “Mirko – the right man”…

The last images he remembers seeing were a thicket of cane in his grandfather’s kitchen garden, the sun and his father’s eyes. Mirco Mencacci became blind at the age of four and since then his world has been that of sound which he has managed to turn into a profession. Indeed, he is one of the most highly sought sound designers and sound editors in the Italian film industry. The documentary “Through Mirco’s Eyes” relates to the original journey through life between light and shade, past and present, of a man who was not stopped by his handicap, but who lives it like a transition into another dimension in which everything is reachable, just like when he could see. Sounds, noises and voices are forever Mirco’s eyes and world.

Underground church in Jajce is a unique example of sacral architecture in Europe. It is the only sacral edifice carved in live rock. According to some findings, it is perhaps the unique edifice of Christian sacral architecture in the world. The church was constructed at the end of 14th and in the beginning of 15th century, when Christianity in Bosnia was still not divided as much as in the past 500 years.

This lyrical documentary presents the vocation, everyday life and festive days of the Hungarian Benedictine monks. He brings together members of Protestant, Orthodox and Jewish communities, believers and free thinkers, at meetings of historical significance. The film emphasises the importance of responsibility and dialogue, and “respect for differences”. It aims to give support to both believers and path-seekers.

Alberto Peratoner – watchmaker, philosopher, theologist. Alberto was the watchmaker of San Marco, guardian of time. He lived in Torre dell’Orologio, the clock tower in St Mark’s Square. He was the last person to have grown up, lived and worked in a clock. But the clock tower of San Marco was restored, and the clock modernised. Alberto had to move out. Today, after his life in the clock tower, Alberto still lives in Venice with his wife and children. Alberto cannot sleep. He misses the ticking of the clock in the old tower as a child misses its mother’s heartbeat. His sleepless nights are filled with thoughts on the nature of time and with worries about the health of his old companion.

Film “Vaskrsenje” govori o Dorjanskom jezeru. Na zahtjev grčkih zemljoradnika 1988. godine, velika količina vode je puštena iz jezera. Ovo, kao i činjenica da je narednih 15 godina bio sušan period, rezultiralo je smanjenjem nivoa vode i jezero je počelo da dobija izgled močvare. Godine 2002, novi hidrosistem je pušten u rad, i kao rezultat toga, 800 – 900 litara vode po sekundi teklo je iz Gjavaškog polja u jezero svaki dan. Ovo je grandiozan projekat za Republiku Makedoniju, jer je ovo prvi slučaj u istoriji čovječanstva da čovjek vraća prirodi ono što joj po pravu pripada.

The film “Resurrection” is about Dorjan Lake. In 1988 a great quantity of water was let out of it on request of the Greek farmers. This and the fact that the next 15 years were droughty resulted in lowering of the level and the lake started to look like a swamp. In 2002 a new hydro – system was put into operation, as a result of which 800 – 900 liters of water per second were flowing from “Gjavashko Pole” into the lake each day. This is a grandiose project for the Republic of Macedonia, because for the first time in the human history this is an example of man bringing back to nature something that belongs to it.

In a very special region hidden in the mountains, people still preserve a traditional and safe relationship with nature. Last part of a series of four rather independent documentaries dedicated to a history of gold mining in the Apuseni (Western Carpathians), the film witnesses the degradation of the natural and anthropological environment along the 20th century and mainly after Second World War, and highlightens a major danger for the area, which is today menaced by a major open-cast mining project.

Success is finally smiling upon a young futurist painter Umberto Boccioni, when the First World War breaks out. Viewing the conflict as a grand adventure sure to prove both regenerative and cleansing, he enlists. But real war proves to be a soulless tragedy. In the hospital where he lies dying, Umberto’s former muse and lover Lorenza tells him that another woman is pregnant with his child. ‘’Tell him to look to the real future’’, says the doomed artist.

Fra’ Leone, for whom Gino carried out clandestine missions during the war to save Italian Jews from Nazis, convinced hi not to give up.

Set in the present, the four ordinary men in this story find themselves at crossroads in their lives. In September 1943, the announcement that Italy has signed a separate peace with the Allied Powers leaves the Italian troops of occupation in Greece euphoric. But their hopes of the quick return home are soon dashed by their former German allies who demand that they either surrender or fight. Battle – weary Sergeant Saverio, who was hoping to find his own peace with Feria, an Italian immigrant to Greece whose husband left her to go to America is forced to drive a truck carrying Italian officers to their deaths before a German firing squad. Originally opposed to the resistance, he takes an active role.

Nenad is Montenegrin, son of a guest worker (gastarbeider), second generation. After Nenad’s wedding, there is a car accident and Sanja, his bride, gets killed. The accident is provoked by Branko, the bride’s father. Branko blames the fate for the sudden death of his daughter. At the funeral, somewhere in the Montenegrin mountains, Nenad realizes that the entire family blames the fate, not Branko. Nenad is faced with an unfamiliar, different image of Balkans.

U filmu – fikciji – mogu se čuti rečenice koje su izrečene kao prva reakcija na događaje i svakodnevna iskustva o tragedijama, argumentima i oružanoj borbi na djelimično amaterskom filmu sa zvučnim zapisom. Snimke nađene na buvljoj pijaci Ecseri komentariše filmski tehničar koji ih je pronašao kao i jedina živa osoba te “privatne istorije”.

In the film – a fiction – one may hear the sentences worded as a first reaction to the events and experiences day by day about the tragedies, arguments and about the armed fight on the partly amateur film with sound recording. The footages found at the Ecseri Flea Market are commented by the film technician who had found them as well as by the only person still alive of that “private history”.

The main character is Antonio Magnano, a very handsome young native of Catania with a reputation of the lady killer. Apart from his lone interest, women, Antonio lets “life live him” incapable of giving his existence a direction, even when he actually falls in love with a beautiful Austrian girl named Inge. Antonio’s indolence gains the upper hand, turning into a psychosomatic condition that leaves him impotent. Under pressure from his family, he agrees to an arranged marriage, but then falls in love with his wife. His career as a state prosecutor advances, but when his impotence is made public, his marriage is annulled and his family ashamed…

Međunarodni televizijski festival Bar 2006. dodjeljuje sljedeće nagrade: 1. U svakoj kategoriji dodjeljuju se nagrade za najbolju emisiju u cjelini. U prve dvije kategorije (igrana i dokumentarna), za najbolje emisije u cjelini dodjeljuju se: prva, druga i treća nagrada (Zlatna, Srebrna i Bronzana maslina), a u kategoriji ekologija dodjeljuje se po jedna nagrada za najbolju emisiju u cjelini. 2. U svakoj kategoriji dodjeljuju se autorske nagrade: a) za najbolji scenario b) za najbolju režiju c) za najbolju fotografiju 3. U kategoriji igranih programa dodjeljuju se: a) nagrada za najbolju mušku ulogu b) nagrada za najbolju žensku ulogu 4. Za najbolju emisiju na Festivalu dodjeljuje se Grand prix Festivala. 5. Za najbolju selekciju na Festivalu dodjeljuje se producentska nagrada.

Dobitniku Grand prix-a Festivala, organizator obezbjeđuje boravak na sljedećem Festivalu, a nagrađena emisija će biti emitovana na otvaranju Festivala. Na Festivalu mogu biti dodijeljene i druge nagrade pored zvaničnih nagrada, koje odobrava Upravni odbor posebnim Pravilnikom (nagrada novinarskog žirija ili drugih organizacija).

PROGRAMME SELECTION

Selection committee consisting of three members selects programmes for competitive category. There are two basic criteria for programme selection: quality and established duration of programmes in competitive category. jURY

The Festival is a competitive event. Programmes in the official selection are presented in the Festival. Quality of the programmes in the official category is evaluated by one jury for all categories. The jury has five members. The jury is headed by its president, while the work is organized by its secretary. AWARDS

The International TV Festival Bar 2006 presents the following awards: 1. One best programme award is presented in each category. In the first two categories – documentary and feature programme, there are: the first, second and third best programme awards (the Golden, Silver and Bronze Olive), while one best programme award is presented in the category of ecology. 2. Author’s awards are presented in each category: a) for the best screenplay b) for the best directing c) for the best photography 3. Awards presented in the feature programme are: a) the best actor award b) the best actress award 4. The best programme in the Festival is presented with the Grand Prix of the Festival. 5. A producer award is presented for the best selection in the Festival.

The organizer provides the accommodation to the winner of the Festival’s Grand Prix in the next Festival and the awarded programme will be shown at the opening of the Festival. Apart from the official awards, other awards can also be presented after being approved by the Executive Board of the Festival, based on the special Book of Regulations (award of the journalists’ jury or of other organizations)

Područje barske opštine se nalazi na jugu Crne Gore, između Jadranskog mora i Skadarskog jezera, oivičeno budvanskom, cetinjskom i ulcinjskom opštinom, dok je sam grad Bar na 420 6’ geografske širine i 190 6’ geografske dužine, uz nadmorsku visinu od četiri metra. Barsko kopneno područje ima površinu od 506 km2, a sa pripadajućom vodenom površinom Skadarskog jezera od 128 km2 (od albanske granice do Poseljana) zauzima ukupan prostor od 633 km2. Bar je od Otrantskih vrata udaljen samo 180 km vazdušne linije, a pošto je preko Otrantskog zaliva pove- zan sa srednjim i istočnim Mediteranom i lukama svih kontinenata, ima kraće i neposrednije veze sa svim pristaništima na obalama Sredozemnog mora, u odnosu na bilo koju luku na istočnoj obali Jadrana. Najviša tačka opštine je vrh planine Rumije, na nadmorskoj visini od 1593 m. Bar ima prosječno 270 sunčanih dana u toku godine i spada među najsunčanija mjesta Južne Evrope. Klimu karakterišu duga i topla ljeta, srednja godišnja temperatura od 15,50 C, u julu 230 C, a januaru 100 C. Bar se nalazi na samo 55 km od glavnog grada Crne Gore Podgorice, a na udaljenosti od 50 i 70 km, nalaze se dva aerodroma - Podgorica i Tivat. Bar je veza Crne Gore sa svijetom, jer je granična opština, koja je Jadranskim morem vezana sa Italijom.

Da je života u Baru bilo još u praistoriji, potvrđuju arheološki nalazi iz starijeg neolita. Materijalnih ostataka iz ilirskog doba ima svuda u barskoj opštini. Pretpostavlja se da se Bar, kao obnovljeni rimski kastel, ANTIPARGAI, pominje u VI vijeku, a prvi put se ime grada sa sigurnošću navodi u X vijeku, kao ANTIBAREOS. Iako se sa slovenizacijom počelo prilično rano, nije jasno kada je grad prvi put mogao doći u ruke dukljanskih vladara, mada se može pretpostaviti da je to bilo već u IX vijeku. Mnogi od dukljanskih vladara morali su boraviti u Baru - Mihailo, recimo, prvi dukljanski kralj koji je u Baru dobio priznanje kraljevske titule i Bodin, koji je ustoličio Barsku nadbiskupiju. Padom Duklje, sjedište episkopije se seli u Bar. U tom periodu, Duklja vodi snažne borbe sa susjedima - Vizantijom i Samuilovom “državom južnih Slovena”, pri čemu je najistaknutiji od dukljanskih vladara knez Vladimir, sa sjedištem u Krajini pored Bara. Da bi se Duklja potpuno oslobodila presije Vizantije, sin Vojislavljev - knez Mihailo, traži i dobija kraljevsku krunu iz Rima, 1077. godine i to je, za istoričare, zvaničan početak odvajanja Duklje od vizantijske vlasti. Nešto kasnije, na molbu Mihailovog sina, Bodina, 1089. Papa ustoličava Barsku arhiepiskopiju. Vizantija ponovo vlada Barom od 1166. do 1183. godine, kada je uslijedio prodor Stefana Nemanje, koji je razorio primorske gradove, uključujući i “slavni grad Bar”, pripajajući Zetu svojoj državi - Raškoj. Od 1443. do 1571. godine ovim prostorom vladaju Mlečani. Tokom srednjevjekovlja, Bar je bio središte južnojadranskog pomorja, grad-država koja je imala grb, zastavu, Statut i kovani novac. Turci su Bar zauzeli 1571. godine i u njihovim rukama bio je do 1878. godine.

80 BAR – THE SOUTH GATE OF THE ADRIATIC

The municipality of Bar is situated in the southern part of Montenegro, between the Adriatic and the Skadar Lake, bordering with municipalities of Budva, Cetinje and Ul- cinj. The very town of Bar is located at latitude 420 6’, longitude 190 6’, and altitude 4m. Continental part of Bar covers the area of 506 km2, and together with the area of the Skadar Lake of 128 km2 (from Albanian border to Poseljani) it covers total area of 633 km2. Bar is only 180 km away from the Strait of Otranto in airline distance and since it is connected, via Otranto Bay, with central and eastern Mediterranean and with the ports of all continents, it has shorter and more direct connections with all ports of the Mediterranean, in comparison to any other port on the eastern Adriatic coast. The highest point of the municipality is the peak of the mountain Rumija – 1593m above sea level. Bar has on average 270 sunny days in a year and is considered to be one of the sunniest places in the South Europe. Its climate is characterized by long and warm summers, with average annual temperature of 15,50C; in July 230C and in January 100C. Bar is only 55km away from the Montenegrin capital Podgorica and at the distance of 50 km and 70 km there are two Montenegrin airports - Podgorica and Tivat. Bar is Montenegrin connection with the world since it is a border municipality connected to Italy by Adriatic Sea.

The archaeological excavations from older Neolithic period confirm that Bar existed also in prehistoric period. Material remains from Illyrian period can be found every- where in the area of the Municipality of Bar. Reconstructed roman castle, ANTIPAR- GAI, mentioned in the VI century is assumed to be Bar, and the first reliable records of the name of the town appear in the X century as ANTIBAREOS. Even though Slavic influence started rather early, it is not clear when the town initially fell in hands of Doclea rulers, but it is assumed to have happened already in the IX century. Many Doclea rulers seem to have stayed at Bar – Mihailo, for instance, the first Doclea king got his king title confirmation and Bodin who established Bar’s archbishopric. With the fall of Doclea, the seat of bishopric is moved to Bar. In that period, Doclea leads fierce fights with its neighbours – Byzantine Empire and Samuilo’s “State of South Slavs” where the most prominent Doclea ruler was Vladimir, with the seat in Krajina near Bar. In order to free Doclea completely from the pressure of Byzantine Empire, the son of Vojislav – duke Mihailo, asks for and ob- tains royal crown from Rome in 1077. For the historians, this is the official beginning of Doclea’s separation from Byzantine dominion. Later on, upon request of Mihailo’s son, Bodin, in 1089 the Pope establishes Bar’s archbishopric. Byzantine Empire rules Bar again in the period from 1166 to 1183 when Stefan Nemanja penetrated into and destroyed costal towns including “famous town of Bar”, adjoining Zeta to his state – Raska. From 1443 to 1571 Venetian influence is dominant in this area. In the Middle Ages, Bar was the centre of the south Adriatic coast, town-state that had its own coat of arms, flag, statute and coins.

81 Ono po čemu je Bar oduvijek bio prepoznatljiv jeste njegovanje vjerske tolerancije među pripadnicima različitih konfesija. Po tradiciji, svake godine na dan Sv. Trojice pravoslavni, katolici i muslimani iznose na vrh Rumije Vladimirov krst koji, po vjerovanju, čuva cijeli kraj od svakog zla. Crkve u okolini Sutomora: Sv. Tekle, Sv. Dimitrija i Sv. Roka imaju dva oltara gdje su istovremeno vršili bogosluženje i pravoslavni i katolički sveštenici. Isti je slučaj i sa manastirom Sv. Vasilije Ostroški na Ribnjaku. Da je solidar- nost među ljudima ostala sastavni dio životne filozofije ovog područja govori i podatak da danas 12% ukupnog stanovništva čine lica raseljena sa ratnih područja koja su utočište našla u Baru. Maslina na Mirovici, stara preko 2000 godina, pravi je spomenik prirode, a po legendi bila je mjesto gdje su se mirile zavađene porodice. Pored ove atrakcije Barani se najviše ponose Starim gradom. Sahat kula, amam, barutana i akvadukt, kojim je grad snabdi- jevan vodom, nastali su u tursko doba. Sačuvani su i ostaci nekoliko sakralnih objekata različitih stilova iz različitih perioda. Stari grad Bar je najznačajniji kulturno-istorijski spomenik ovog područja sa očuvanim gradskim bedemima, citadelama, kapijom i kulom u kojoj su otkriveni fragmenti slovenske keramike od XIV do XVI vijeka. Na samoj morskoj obali izgrađen je 1885. godine Dvorac kralja Nikole koji se sastoji od velikog i malog dvorca, kula stražara, kapele i zimske bašte, a 1910. godine je dozidana i plesna sala.

Utvrđenje Haj-Nehaj predstavlja ostatke srednjovjekovnog grada Nehaj koji su u XV vijeku podigli Mlečani na nepristupačnom brdu iznad Sutomora. Sakralni objekti, nekada duhovna središta, danas su najčešće spomenici kulture. Od velikog broja manastira, crkava i džamija nastalih u Baru i njegovoj okolini sačuvani su uglavnom njihovi ostaci, rasuti duž obale mora, na ostrvima Skadarskog jezera, u starom dijelu grada i crmničkom kraju.

Stub kulturnog života u opštini je JP Kulturni centar Bar (Jovana Tomaševića 57, tel 085 303 053, faks 085 303 052). U njegovom sastavu su organizacione jedinice: Zavičajni muzej, smješten u Dvorcu kralja Nikole, raspolaže sa etnološkom, arheološkom i prirodnjačkom zbirkom kao i memorijalom kralja Nikole. Koncertna sala se koristi za realizaciju programa javne djelatnosti Centra - izložbe, koncerti, književne i druge tribine (tel 085 315 355) Umjetnička galerija “Velimir A Leković”, sa dva velika izložbena prostora središte je oku- pljanja ljubitelja likovne umjetnosti (tel 085 315 998) Narodna biblioteka i čitaonica “Ivo Vučković”, posjeduje oko 65 000 monografskih i preko 21 000 serijskih publikacija i predstavlja biblioteško informacioni centar opštine. (tel 085 313 031) Dom kulture «Vladimir Popović Španac» ima bioskopsko-pozorišnu salu sa 650 sjedišta, ljetnju pozornicu sa 1000 mjesta i nekoliko manjih sala za održavanje kurseva, semina- ra, tribina i sl. (tel 085 311 586). «Internacionalni TV festival» održava se od 1995. godine i predstavlja smotru tv ostva- renja i autorskih kreacija. «Barski ljetopis» održava se od 1988. godine u toku jula i avgusta. Multimedijalni festival se sastoji od pozorišnog, likovnog, muzičkog i književnog programa. «Susreti pod starom maslinom» festival se održava od 1987. godine u novembru mjesecu, a posvećen je dječjem stvaralaštvu. «Dani vina i ukljeve» organizuje se krajem godine u okviru manifestacije «Dani Skadarskog jezera».

82 The thing Bar was always known for is cherishing religious tolerance among its inhabitants. As per tradition, every year on St. Trinity day, Orthodox, Catholics and Muslims take Vladimir’s cross to the top of Rumija. The cross is believed to protect the whole area from any evil. Churches from the surroundings of Sutomore: St. Tekla, St. Dimities and St. Roka have two altars where both services, orthodox and catholic, were performed at the same time. The same case is with the monastery of St. Vasilije Ostroski at Ribnjak. The fact that 12% of total number of inhabitants are refugees from areas struck by war who found their refuge in Bar demonstrates that solidarity among people remains a constituent part of life philosophy in this area.

Olive tree in Mirovica, more than 2000 years old, is a genuine natural monument, and according to the legend, it was the place where families in dispute made peace. Aside from this attraction, inhabitants of Bar are very proud of the Old town of Bar. Clock tower, Turkish baths, powder magazine and aqueduct used for water supply were all constructed in the period of Turkish reign. Remains of several sacral edifices of different styles and from different periods are preserved. The Old town of Bar is the most significant cultural-historical monument of this area with preserved city walls, citadels, gate and tower where fragments of Slavic ceramics from the XIV and XVI century were found. In 1885, at the very coast, king Nikola’s Castle was built. It consists of large and small castle, watch tower, chapel and winter garden, and in 1910, a dancing hall was added. Fortification Haj-Nehaj represents the remains of medieval town Nehaj founded in the XV century by Venetians on the inaccessible hill above Sutomore. Sacral edifices, previously religious seats, today are mostly cultural monuments. Remains of the great number of monasteries, churches and mosques founded in Bar and its surroundings were preserved throughout the coast, on the islands of the Skadar Lake, in the old part of town and Crmnica area.

The pillar of cultural life in the municipality is public company Cultural Centre Bar (Jovana Tomasevica 57, tel. 085 303 053, fax 085 303 052). It consists of organiza- tional units: Hometown Museum in king Nikola’s castle. There are ethnic, archeo- logical and naturalistic collections as well as the memorial of king Nikola. Concert hall is used for various events – exhibitions, concerts, literary and other events (tel 315 355) Art gallery “Velimir A Leković”, with two great exibition areas is the place where art lovers meet (tel 315 998) National library and reading-room “Ivo Vučković”, has around 65 000 monographic and over 21 000 serial publications and it represents the library –information system of the Municipality (tel 313 031) Cultural House “Vladimir Popović Španac” has cinema – theatre hall with 650 seats, summer stage with 1000 seats and several smaller halls where courses, seminars, debates and other events take place (tel 311 586). “International TV festival” taking place since 1995 and is a review of TV productions and authors’ work. “Bar’s Chronicle” taking place since 1988, in July and August. Events in this multime- dia include theatre, fine arts, music and literature. “Encounters under the Olive tree” –since 1987, the festival takes place in November and it is dedicated to children’s creativity work. “Days of wine and bleak” is organized at the end of the year as part of “Days of Skadar Lake”.

Već deceniju zaštitni znak Bara je međunarodni TV Festival, manifestacija na kojoj su predstavljeni gotovo svi segmenti tv stvaralaštva. Međunarodni TV Festival u Baru bez sumnje je u proteklim godinama obezbijedio reputaciju jedne od najprestižnijih medijskih manifestacija u regionu Jugoistočne Evrope, a našao se i na spisku nekih uglednih vodiča kroz međunarodne festivale.

Šta učiniti da takva manifestacija doprinese promovisanju Crne Gore? Kako država Crna Gora može da pomogne takav projekat, podigne nivo festivala i doprinese promociji sopstvenih vrijednosti?

For a decade, the International TV Festival, the event at which almost all segments of tv creativity are presented, has been Bar’s trademark. The International TV Festival Bar has undoubtedly gained in the past years the reputation of one of the most prestigious media events in the region of South East Europe and is on the list of some prominent international festival guides.

What has to be done so that this event would contribute to the promotion of Mon- tenegro? How can Montenegro support such a project, improve the raiting of the festival and contribute to the promotion of its own values?

Žurnalske storije snimljene u Crnoj Gori od 1905. do početka 60-tih godina XX vijeka i danas izazivaju naše divljenje i predstavljaju dokumente neprocjenjive vrijednosti. Većina tih žurnala prikazani su po evropskim metropolama i bili su obavezna predigra igranim filmovima na bioskopskom repertoaru. Ovom projekcijom podsjetićemo Vas na njih, a mnoge se ovom prilikom, poslije više decenija prvi put javno prikazuju.

Journal stories filmed in Montenegro from 1905 to the beginning of 60-ties of the 20th century even today incite our admiration and are priceless documents. Most of these journals were shown in European metropolis and were obligatory preludes to films in cinemas. With this projection, we shall remind you of them. Many of them will be publicly broadcast for the first time after several decades.
