CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TERRITORY

1. General information for investment

Storozhynets town united territorial community is located at the foot of the Carpathians mountains over the Seret river, on the Ukrainian-Romanian ethnic border.

First elections : Decmber 18, 2016

2. Geographical and climate conditions. The community is located in the South-Western part of Chernivtsi region. The Eastern part of the community is located within the Carpathian region. The surface is elevated alluvial-deluvial plain, strongly dissected by deep erosion, eroded by plane washout. The climate is moderately continental, mild and humid. The average temperature in January is -5.5°C, July – +16.5°C. The period with temperatures above +10°C is 145 days (in the mountains) to 165 days in the Carpathian region. The amount of precipitation from 650 mm in the valley of the Koroviy river to 900 mm per year in the mountains. The main part of precipitation falls in the warm season. The height of the snow cover is 28 cm. It is located in the Carpathian agro climatic region of the vertical climatic zonation. The administrative center of Storozhynets United territorial community is the town of Storozhynets. The town Storozhynets, spread on the left Bank of the Seret at the foot of The Bukovina Carpathians, can safely claim the title of the greenest town of Bukovina: one resident here has more than 40 square meters of green space. There are no ancient architectural monuments in the town, but the most picturesque arboretum in Bukovina, Austrian buildings of the late 19th – early 20th century, religious buildings of various denominations and administrative buildings encourage visitors to stay here at least for a day.

3. Education, healthcare, culture and leisure time activities

On the territory of Storozhynets united territorial community there are: - 13 pre-school educational institution, where 1 322 children are studying; - 15 general educational institutions, where 3 976 children are studying; - 4 educational institutions, where 1 260 children are studying. - 14 healthcare institutions where 32 doctors and 63 nursing staff people are working; - 16 libraries with 17 people working; - 16 houses of culture with 17 people working.

4. Workforce

On the territory of the united territorial community live 38 526 people, including economically active population - 21 165 people and 6966 unemployed persons.

5. Transport infrastructure

The administrative center of community – Storozhynets, is located in 23 km from the regional center of Chernivtsi (by road P 26). In Storozhynets town, there is the railway station of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Directorate of Railway Transport of Lviv Railway, which is located on the line of Glyboka-Bukovinskaya - Beregomet between the stations of Karapchiv and Beregomet. From the station, suburban trains run to Chernivtsi through the stations of Glibok-Bukovinsk, Chernivtsi-Pivdena.

6. Structure of the economy

On the territory of the Storozhinets united community, 172 legal entities and 2 068 individual entrepreneurs carry out activities and pay taxes.

8. Community’s achievements

Storozhynets town community has considerable experience in implementing projects. The main ones are:

- "Cross-border instrument for household waste management in rural areas", implemented under the Romania-Ukraine-Republic of Moldova 2007-2013 program. The results of the project were the purchase of 1,460 plastic containers for separating collection of household wastes, press for pressing of waste paper, PET packaging, envelopes, cardboard and other raw materials, and vanity truck garbage trucks. Also, the reconstruction of the town dump was carried out - a third cassette was constructed and a major repair of the

- “Production of design and cost accounting documentation (PPD) for the construction of sewage treatment facilities in the town of Storozhynets with a productivity of 2000 m³ per day” according to a program ”Support to the Decentralization of Ukraine ", funded by the German Association for International Cooperation GIZ.

Also in the community in 2017 more than 20 projects were implemented for infrastructure subventions, covering construction and capital repairs of educational institutions, capital repairs of water pipes and sewage systems of Storozhynets, reconstruction of street lighting of villages , major repairs of the out-patient departments of the general practice of family medicine in the villages of Banyliv- Pidhirnyi, Kostyntsi and Zrub-Komarivtsi and village clubs; Also, a reconstruction of the stadium in the village of Sloboda-Komarivtsi was carried out, the master plan of Storozhynets was developed and the motor grader for the communal enterprise of the Storozhynets town Council was purchased.

Under the subvention for the social and economic development of the territories in 2017, the capital repairs (replacement of windows and doors) of the Banyliv- Pidhirnyi Gymnasium were performed in the Storozhynets community, equipment for the playground of Komarivtsi educational institution Kolosok was purchased, was created the budget of documentation for the construction of the Komarivtsi secondary school of I-III levels and major repairs for educational institution "Dzvinochok" in Storozhynets.

In addition, on-site community-based projects implemented the program "Community Based Approach to Local Development".
