PARTICIPANT FEEDBACK:
“Ultrasonography is essential for the training of Rheumatologists and represents a key aspect of patient’s evaluation. The EULAR On-line Introductory Ultrasound Course offers theoretical basic skills on musculoskeletal ultrasound in rheumatic diseases as well as in healthy subjects. The high quality of contents as well as the experience of the Faculty are the two main reasons to join this course. Moreover, the website is straightforward and very easy to use. Upon passing the final examination, EULAR releases a certificate. This course is very useful for Rheumatologists who would like to acquire a basic theoretical knowledge on musculoskeletal ultrasound.”
“I attended the EULAR On-line Introductory Ultrasound Course. It is a well structured basic course on ultrasonography that is divided in different modules according to the different anatomical sites. Each module includes specific exercises and the final test. I found this course very interesting and it provided me with a complete overview of ultrasonography in rheumatology. I would recommend this course as to me it was overall more useful and formative compared to some different on-site courses I previously attended.”

OCTOBER 2017 24 WORLD ARTHRITIS DAY EMEUNET @ EULAR BRUSSELS CONFERENCE ON THE FUTURE OF HEALTH RESEARCH AND INNOVATION AFTER HORIZON 2020
The 12th of October 2017 marked the World Arthritis Day. In light of this and as in previous years, EULAR organised a conference in Brussels to raise awareness on Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases (RMDs), this year looking at the future of health research and innovation after Horizon 2020. Discussions focused on identifying priorities in health research and innovation as well as on analysing examples of successful Hilfslinien anzeigen über Menu: research proposals to learn from previous achievements and plan future developments. This meeting gathered representatives of different stakeholders providing their point of view and perspective: The three EULAR
Folie in Ursprungsform pillars, were represented by the EULAR President Prof. Johannes Bijlsma, the Vice President of EULAR representing people with arthritis and rheumatism (PARE) Dieter Wiek, and the EULAR Vice President representing health professionals Prof. Tanja Stamm. The exceptionality of this meeting is outlined by Wechsel der Textebene/Formatierungen including representatives from the European Parliament, the European Patients’ Forum, the European Start Commission, national patients’ organizations, and national rheumatology societies from EULAR countries. The meeting included introductory lectures followed by four group workshops, a reporting back of the results to all participants, and a plenary discussion on the possible impact of the workshop results on EU policy makers to improve conditions at the European level.
Four main topics were addressed in these workshops: “Horizon 2020: lessons for the next research framework programme” “Challenges in transferring research findings and innovations into clinical practice” “Engagement of patients in research and innovation” “Public-Private partnership in research and innovation”
The main points stemming out of the workshops were : -Patients should be actively engaged throughout the entire process of the development of research projects. The involvement of patients improves methodology, outcomes, credibility of the results, and translation into practice. -Relevant stakeholders should ensure data sharing and allow the access to different sources of information, to foster patients’ education and optimise researchers’ efforts. -Financial issues are a major barrier to the development of medical research and the implementation of results in clinical practice. A strong collaboration starting at EU level and engaging researchers, patients and other stakeholders, would allow an optimal allocation of funds and eventually the achievement of the overarching priority: the benefit of patients.
Alessia Alunno, Alexandre Sepriano, and Paul Studenic represented EMEUNET at this event to bring input from the experiences and viewpoints of young rheumatologists. The conference was covered via live streaming and twitter (official hashtag: #EULARBrussels2017), so that everyone could follow the developments from home over course of the day. EMEUNET also contributed to the ARD twitter platform, as well as EMEUNET Facebook, spreading the news further and ensuring high engagement across these platforms. EULAR provides a social wall (https://walls.io/EULARBrussels2017) with the main tweets of this conference.
