Temporary Closure of Fosse Way

TAKE NOTICE that in pursuance of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the County Council of Somerset have made an Order PROHIBITING ALL TRAFFIC from proceeding along Fosse Way from 80m north of the junction with Babcary Lane to 120m south of the junction with Steart Lane a distance of 1370 metres.

This order will enable Somerset Highways to carry out resurfacing works in this road.

The Order becomes effective on 18 May 2015 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The works are expected to last for 5 nights. While the closure is in operation an alternative route will be signed as detailed below.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE

From the southern end of the closure proceed in a south westerly direction along the A303 to the junction with the A372. Turn right and proceed in a westerly direction along the A372 to the junction with the B3151. Turn right and proceed in a north westerly direction along the B3151 to the junction with the B3153. Turn right and proceed in a north easterly direction along the B3153 to the junction with the A37. Turn right and proceed in a south westerly direction along the A37 to the northern end of the closure, and vice versa.

Access to Babcary for vehicles over 4.4Mts (14’ 3’’) high will be via the A303 and Steart Hill.

Access to Charlton Adam will be via B3153, Queen Street and Combe Lane.
