As we all know Forza Horizon is a car racing gaming series, there are more aspects of the game that is imperative to be known. The game was developed for Xbox One and Xbox 360 which is associated with Microsoft Windows. Playground Studios developed this version of the game series in the year 2014. The game offers the players, both single-player and multiplayer modes. The game allows the player to connect with their friends instantly which makes it more interesting. The game also takes the players through hilly and snowy sites which can be quite challenging to drive especially in games like racing. The game released various downloadable packs of the contents required in a racing car. The players as they progress in the levels of the Forza Horizon game they have the luxury to expand the play location with additional programs in the race. This option kind of motivates the player to progress to the next level. Gameplay. The game takes place in a fictional site which is located in the Northern part of Italy and the Southern part of France. This game offers the players three times more of the drivable location compared to that of the previous version of the series. In this game, the players will have to drive and explore to progress in the game. The car racing events in this game take place both in the morning and night. The new feature that was developed in this game is the ‘Bucket lists’. There are a group of three challenges that are timed in this version of the game series on successful completion of which the player wins the game. This type of gameplay is similar to that of Forza Horizon thousand clubs. Bucket list gameplay can be played both as a solo game or a cooperative game. The map in Forza Horizon 2 automatically updates the game and gives the player new challenges throughout the gameplay. In Forza Motorsport 5, ‘Forzavista’ game mode allows the player to meet up with their friends. The player plays with their friends online which is known as ‘Car meets’. The players are allowed to interact and have a conversation with one another in Car Meets. The online series of Forza Horizon game has various types of races which includes, races such as cross country, sprints, and circuits. These races can be played along with game types such as King and infected which are playable with other gamers. Features. Forza Horizon has amazing features that exhibit dramatic weather conditions while racing. The player can thoroughly enjoy the style, speed, action- based driving. There are few other features mentioned below. Massive Exploration. The game offers the player to immerse themselves in a wide environment that is open. This feature of this game is unique as it allows the player to drive anywhere. The racing game takes place both in the mornings and at night. This feature is known for its stunning small details. Action-filled Driving. Forza Horizon 2 despite being a racing game also gives the player the thriller of action based feel. The game is thrilling as it allows the player to explore and find out shortcuts to win the game. Instant Connectivity. The main highlight of Forza Horizon 2 is that the players are no longer allowed to wait and lobby. This feature makes it interesting for the players as they can play along with their friends, which can be much more fun. The player can create or join the network of friends with the help of a car club provided by the game. Car Fantasy. The game offers the players to drive more than 200 plus cars which include both classic and modern cars. For example, the player can choose to drive BMW M4 and Lamborghini for the race. Bucket List. The player is given a selected task to be completed during the bucket list challenge and he has no other choice other than finishing the task allotted to him successfully to win the game. For instance, the player will be given the task of reaching a specified destination with the top speed before the given time. According to Metacritic Forza Horizon, 2 scored 86 out of 100.     VOICE INTERACTION GAME DESIGN AND GAMEPLAY Fraser Allison ORCID: 0000-0002-7005-7390 Submitted in total fulfilment of the requirements of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy January 2020 School of Computing & Information Systems Melbourne School of Engineering The University of Melbourne Abstract This thesis is concerned with the phenomenon of voice-operated interaction with characters and environments in videogames. Voice interaction with virtual characters has become common in recent years, due to the proliferation of conversational user interfaces that respond to speech or text input through the persona of an intelligent personal assistant. Previous studies have shown that users experience a strong sense of social presence when speaking aloud to a virtual character, and that voice interaction can facilitate playful, social and imaginative experiences of the type that are often experienced when playing a videogame. Despite this, the user experience of voice interaction is frequently marred by frustration, embarrassment and unmet expectations. The aim of this thesis is to understand how voice interaction can be used in videogames to support more enjoyable and meaningful player experiences. Voice- operated videogames have existed for more than three decades, yet little research exists on how they are designed and how they are received by players. The thesis addresses that knowledge gap through four empirical studies. The first study looks at player responses to a videogame character that can be given commands through a natural language interface. The second study is a historical analysis of voice-operated games that examines the technological and cultural factors that have shaped their form and popularity. The third study develops a pattern language for voice game design based on a survey of 471 published videogames with voice interaction features.
