The link to the village’s past is also spurring her efforts to establish a historical museum for the area. Olsen’s great-great-great grandfather is Lehman Rosenheimer, who was born in Bavaria in 1820 and left for America in 1840, settling in what is now Slinger by 1844. Rosenheimer followed Baruch Schleisinger Weil, who platted what was first known as Schleisingerville (the vil- lage changed its named to the village of Slinger in 1921). Olsen resides in a house that was built by Rosenheimer in 1890 and which was later sold to a member of the Storck family, which is best known for the Storck Beer that operated in Slinger prior to andafter the Prohibition era. During a recent interview, Olsen said she was born in France and resided in other countries as her father served in the military. Olsen came back Slinger as her parents also reside nearby. “I just realized that after living in Europe, things that are in the 1700s or 1600s are historic, so I had history around me all the time in all these countries where I lived,” Olsen said. As people in the Slinger area found out she was related to Rosenheimer, she started receiving various historical items. Among the items she has received are clothing, dishware and postcards from eight generations of Rosenheimers. “My house can’t hold all these things, so why don’t we have a museum in Slinger?” Olsen said.
