July 13, 2016 Enclosed Is the Preliminary TO: USMS Records & Tabulation Committee USMS LMSC Top Ten Recorders Date: July 13, 2016 Enclosed is the preliminary 2015-2016 Top Ten for Short Course Yards. Please compare this carefully to what you sent me, especially if I had questions for you, and send all corrections to me by July 31. Also, please help check for any bad times, duplicate names, relay-team duplicates, misspellings or any other errors. There are several NVs (Not Verified - times that are faster than the official record). Some of the NVs may be errors, and if so PLEASE let me know. If valid, please encourage the meet director to get the documentation sent in to me. The deadline for these records is the end of August. Note there are some meets included that have not sent in their pool measurements yet. Those meets will be removed by the final publication if not received. The preliminary Top Ten will be published on the web at our Top Ten web site. You can reach it by going to www.usms.org and going to the Events & Results tab and from there to “Top 10”. There you will find a link to the Top Ten web page. We would like as many people as possible to get involved in the proofreading. So, tell your friends. A big THANK YOU to all the LMSC Top Ten Recorders for all the excellent work they did to make this possible. Special THANKS to Mary Sweat, who helped compile this course. If you are no longer the Top Ten Recorder for your LMSC, please send me updated information (name, phone number, email). July BETWEEN THE LINES 2008 Fishers Greenfield SOUTHEASTERN SWIM CLUB OF Pendleton Mission "Our program encourages swimmers to reach their full potential and Statement develop essential life skills while having fun!" Important Dates President’s Perspective by: Dan Johnson July How fast does the summer go--we are already in July, our meet is right around the corner, and the 11-13 SSC Summer Sizzler Championship Meets are at the end of this month. In August, all of the country will be watching the 21 SSC Night at Victory Olympic Games where swimming is always one of the areas in which the USA dominates. With this Field in mind I started thinking about how great our sport is and why. I found an article on the “Top 10 Reasons Why Our Children Should Swim”: 25 Final Splash of Sea- son—Tri-Dual @ Craw- fordsville HS 1. Swimming is an outstanding activity for young people. 2. Swimming promotes fitness and teaches a child to strive for physical achievement. Many August super-stars in other sports started out as swimmers and gained strength and coordination that helped them excel. 1-3 2008 Long Course 3. Swimming is an exciting individual and team sport. Age Group State 4. Swimming is a technical and specialized activity involving extensive skill development. 6-10 Central Zone Champi- 5. Swimming is a healthy “lifetime” activity. We would like to welcome you and your friends and family to the 51st Anniversary of the Oktoberfest Race Weekend. It is our goal to provide area race fans and racers one of the finest stock car racing events in the upper Midwest to be a part of. We hope that you go home with many memories that you can reflect on for years to come. Oktoberfest started out as a two day race event in the 1970s and 1980’s. In the early 1990’s, it grew to three days and just a few years later became the four day tradition that still exists today. Further, fans are invited to stay with us in the popular camper village for up to a week. This year, starting on Monday October 5th right through Monday, October 12th. Oktoberfest is a racing event and experience that you cannot capture on an electronic device. It is something much more. It IS a real-life experience, one that leaves fans looking forward to the next year. Every year. It’s the chance to see old friends in the campground. Or in the Grandstands. The racing.... yes, it’s exciting. And there’s a LOT of it going on. Are there lots of race cars in different styles, and classes? Sure, there are. But it is the camaraderie of the racing family that makes a big event like Oktoberfest so special.
