Vascular Plant List: Redmond Watershed Preserve King County, Washington Partial list covers plants found in the 800-acre watershed managed by the city of Redmond primarily as a nature preserve. Habitats include shady 90-year old forest, sunny disturbed utility corridors, ephemeral drainages, perennial streams, ponds and other wetlands. The preserve has 7 miles of trails (see external links below), most of which are multi-use and a couple of which are ADA accessible. List originally compiled by Fred Weinmann in February 2002. Ron Bockelman made additions in 2018. 128 species (83 native, 45 introduced) Directions: 21760 NE Novelty Hill Rd, Redmond, WA 98052 is the physical address. Species List F.1 Lists The following list and three tables denote the bird, mammal, fish, and plant species known to occur in Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (Arctic Refuge, Refuge). F.1.1 Birds of Arctic Refuge A total of 201 bird species have been recorded on Arctic Refuge. This list describes their status and abundance. Many birds migrate outside of the Refuge in the winter, so unless otherwise noted, the information is for spring, summer, or fall. Bird names and taxonomic classification follow American Ornithologists' Union (1998). F.1.1.1 Definitions of classifications used Regions of the Refuge . Coastal Plain – The area between the coast and the Brooks Range. This area is sometimes split into coastal areas (lagoons, barrier islands, and Beaufort Sea) and inland areas (uplands near the foothills of the Brooks Range). Brooks Range – The mountains, valleys, and foothills north and south of the Continental Divide. South Side – The foothills, taiga, and boreal forest south of the Brooks Range. Status . Permanent Resident – Present throughout the year and breeds in the area. Summer Resident – Only present from May to September. Migrant – Travels through on the way to wintering or breeding areas. Breeder – Documented as a breeding species. Visitor – Present as a non-breeding species. * – Not documented. Abundance . Abundant – Very numerous in suitable habitats. Common – Very likely to be seen or heard in suitable habitats. Fairly Common – Numerous but not always present in suitable habitats. Uncommon – Occurs regularly but not always observed because of lower abundance or secretive behaviors. -

We report chromosome counts for ten taxa of Vincetoxicum sensu stricto (s. str.) (Apocynaceae) from Turkey (of which two are endemic), including the first chromosome counts for V. canescens subsp. pedunculata, V. funebre, V. fuscatum subsp. boissieri, V. parviflorum and V. tmoleum. Two taxa of V. fuscatum proved to be tetraploid (2n=44) and the remaining eight taxa diploid (2n=22). Molecular phylogenetic analyses based on nrDNA (ITS) and cpDNA (trnT-trnL) (including 31 newly generated sequences) confirm the position of the TurkishVincetoxicum in the Vincetoxicum s. str. clade. Vincetoxicum fuscatum, V. parviflorum, V. speciosum, as well as the Turkish endemic V. fuscatum subsp. boissieri, were clearly resolved as species-level clades, whereas the delimitation of the rest of the Turkish taxa was less clear based on molecular data. Henrik Bull Application of the ancient Nordic motifs in the ornamentation of the Historical Museum and their stylization according to Art Nouveau principles Natalia Evseeva Master Thesis in History of Art Tutor: Lena Liepe Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas Faculty of Humanities UNIVERSITY OF OSLO Autumn, 2011 Summary The use of the vernacular motifs in Art Nouveau architecture is recognized as a characteristic feature of national variants of the movement. Though the process of transformation of a historical motif – what particular manipulations the architect conducts over it – and its representation in Art Nouveau style is not given much consideration. This became the major sphere of my interest and research. The main subject of the master thesis is the application by Henrik Bull of the ancient Nordic motifs in the ornamentation of the Historical Museum in Oslo. All art historians writing about Bull and one of his major projects – the Historical Museum, underline his talents of a form-giver and admit the fact of the use of the ancient Nordic motifs as sources for his ornamental designs. Little attention is given, however, to the process of creation of new patterns by Bull from the ancient Nordic motifs. The main objective of my thesis is not the identification of the sources the architect uses, but a hypothetical reconstruction of the process of the transformation of the original sources. The process of Bull’s work with the ornamentation in the Historical Museum is interpreted within the concept “decorative stylization” and its formal principles. The area was surveyed and 8 Asclepi- adaceous plant species were collected. These plant species are Calotropis procera (Aiton) W. T. Aiton. Caralluma edulis (Edgew.) Benth., Leptadenia pyrotecnica (Forssk.) Decne., Oxystelma esculentum (L. f.) R. Br., Pentatropis nivalis (J. F. Gmel.) D. V. Field & J. R. I. Wood, Pergularia daemia (Forssk.) Blatt.& McCann., Periploca aphylla Decne. and Stapelia gigantea N.E.Br. The study showed that five plants were used ethnobotanically in the area. All the plants were deposited as voucher specimens in the Department of plant sciences, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, for future references. Complete macro & microscopic detailed morphological features of the species have been discussed. Taxo- nomic key was developed to differentiate closely related taxa.
