During the first week of the closure, work will be carried out under two way traffic lights but from Monday 20th January, it may be necessary to close the north-bound carriageway and traffic will have to follow the agreed diversion route (AM only). In anticipation of potential delays and diversions, it has been agreed to bring forward timetables for affected services and information is attached with this letter. The additional time provided is to ensure that services arrive at Chellaston Academy on time and operators have been given permission to follow the agreed diversion route each morning from Monday 13th January if there are significant traffic delays caused by the two-way lights. I hope delays and inconvenience will be kept to a minimum and can assure you that normal arrangements will be reinstated as soon as work is complete. The Parish Council have been proposing to transfer the land in question to Stenson Fields Parish over a number of years Changes within the parish over the last 20 years have resulted in the parish becoming isolated from the north- eastern portion of the parish. This followed directly from the construction of the A50 road which cut across the parish and isolated the portion of the land which is contiguous to the parishes of Stenson Fields and the City of Derby.

Consultation on the South Derbyshire Secondary Education Strategy About this consultation This consultation seeks your views on Derbyshire County Council’s strategy for secondary education in South Derbyshire. The South Derbyshire Local Plan Part 1 is proposing 13,454 dwellings in South Derbyshire, of which approximately 6,500 would be built on the edge of Derby City and the remainder in the larger settlements in the northern part of the District. This housing development would generate a total of 2,596 secondary aged children (including post-16 pupils). Of these, 966 pupils would be generated by housing development within Derby City and 1,568 pupils would be in South Derbyshire. Derby City and Derbyshire County Council have a statutory duty to provide school places for these additional pupils. Keeping in Touch Lees Brook Community School’s Newsletter for Parents A Founding Member of the Northworthy Trust Dear Parent July 2018 Keeping in Touch I can’t quite believe that we are breaking up for the summer! This year has been a really positive one for the school; it has been an extremely busy one for the students and staff but all the hard work that has been going on is really starting to have an impact. We are looking forward to a positive set of GCSE results this summer. Hot Weather The weather has been amazing over the last few weeks. It is lovely being in the new school, some of us can remember the temperatures reached in the old buildings! The new school is designed to manage the heat and has a fresh air cooling system, this has meant that although definitely warmer than usual, the environment has remained pleasant and students have been able to get on with their work as usual without being too distracted by the heat. Staff have used a common sense approach and have not expected students to wear blazers in the warm weather. Activities and Events Overall, it has been a really exciting year with lots happening; I hope that the extra curricular newsletters you have received have given you a flavour of some of the events on offer. Lees Brook is a very busy place with lots of opportunities for students; this year we have ran an incredible 163 in and out of school events for our students – that must be a record! In particular this year we have had a high number of career and employer encounters for students and have tried to promote the use of STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) in future career options.

National Character 69: Trent Valley Washlands Area profile: Supporting documents www.naturalengland.org.uk 1 National Character 69: Trent Valley Washlands Area profile: Supporting documents Introduction National Character Areas map As part of Natural England’s responsibilities as set out in the Natural Environment White Paper1, Biodiversity 20202 and the European Landscape Convention3, we are revising profiles for England’s 159 National Character Areas (NCAs). These are areas that share similar landscape characteristics, and which follow natural lines in the landscape rather than administrative boundaries, making them a good decision-making framework for the natural environment. NCA profiles are guidance documents which can help communities to inform their decision-making about the places that they live in and care for. The information they contain will support the planning of conservation initiatives at a landscape scale, inform the delivery of Nature Improvement Areas and encourage broader partnership working through Local Nature Partnerships. The profiles will also help to inform choices about how land is managed and can change. Each profile includes a description of the natural and cultural features that shape our landscapes, how the landscape has changed over time, the current key drivers for ongoing change, and a broad analysis of each area’s characteristics and ecosystem services. Statements of Environmental Opportunity (SEOs) are suggested, which draw on this integrated information.
