ARCHERY: Taster session on Friday June 15 organised by Archery Club at Rugby Club, Haslams Lane, Derby, DE22 1EB from 6-8pm. For anyone, aged 10 upwards, who wants to try archery. Equipment provided. BADMINTON DERBYSHIRE BADMINTON PERFORMANCE CENTRE particularly helps develop young players but is also keen to encourage adults. We have arranged these free sessions to support the Festival:

Derby Arena, Pride Park. Wednesday July 11, Taster day: beginners / returners/ come and have ago. There are four sessions available . Adults: Two morning sessions – 10-11 and 11-12. Adults and Juniors - Two evening Sessions : 6.30-7.30pm and 7.30-830pm In the evening separate Adult and Junior sessions will be running. Places can be booked on these sessions through Derby Arena. At Woodlands Community School sports hall, Blenheim Drive, Allestree DE22 2LW. Mondays July 2, 9, - Juniors ( 10 to 17 yrs) Improvers- for those who already play and would like to try out training with a performance group. . From 7.30-9.30 pm. Too reserve a place email: [email protected]

All sessions will be supported by qualified coaches and we will be happy to talk to all participants about how to get into badminton.

BOXING ALLENTON BOXING ACADEMY: Meets above Heron Foods, 801-803 Osmaston Road, Allenton. Fridays June 15, 22 from 6-7.30pm . Non-contact boxing fitness sessions for juniors aged 11-15. Equipment provided, but participants need to take gym gear and a bottle of water.

CYCLING CYCLE DERBY: Monday June 18, inclusive cycle try-out for people with disabilities to go at a level that suits riders of any age and ability. Meet at Markeaton Park, next to the old train shed, any time from 4-6pm for ride along park path using specially-adapted two, three and four wheel bikes.

KARATE KARATE ACADEMY:

Our Karate classes are held at: Keldholme Lane Community Centre, Gillamore Court, Keldholme Lane, Alvaston. DE240RY Taster classes are from 4-5pm on Sundays June 24., July 1, 8. Participants should please turn up 15 mins early to register Adults and children (minimum age four years) are welcome to train together making it a family-friendly activity. Please wear tracksuit bottoms and a plain round neck tee-shirt. We train barefoot Please remember to bring a drink with you as classes can get warm. RUNNING SHELTON STRIDERS is a family-friendly running club which meets Wednesdays and Fridays. We welcome all abilities from new starters to established runners and all ages from toddlers to 70+. We have organised two 3k runs in Darley Park on Wednesdays June 27 and July 4 to which anybody is welcome. Meet at the front of the barn near the car park at Darley Abbey at 6pm.

RUNNING ROLLS-ROYCE HARRIERS – Colin Potter Memorial 10k race through Darley Abbey and Darley Park on Friday July 6 at 7.15pm with hospitality from the race headquarters at Haslams, Derby Rugby Club, Kedleston Road DE22 1EB. This event is in aid of cancer and bereavement charities and is run under UK Athletics Rules. NOTE: There is a charge for entrants. TABLE TENNIS DERBY & DISTRICT TABLE TENNIS ASSOCIATION:

Derby Arena, Pride Park, Derby. Sundays June 16, July 7. From 1-3pm. Adults and juniors are welcome to try their hand at table tennis.

See Springwood Leisure Centre for badminton, table tennis, bowls and short tennis, and Willows Sports Centre for netball and walking football.

On Mondays from 1.30-3.30 pm we offer a drop-in centre for Over 50s with badminton, table tennis, bowls and short tennis. There is also a tea or coffee on offer for people that attend the session. This is for those who want to get more active but may also want to enjoy the social side of sports too. On Monday June 18 and Monday July 2 we will offer this for free to any newcomers.

On the Fridays June 15, 22, 29 and July 6 we will offer a free drop-in badminton session from 11am-1pm for people who enjoy this popular racket sport or want to get more active and start playing.

The centre offers other sports and a gym plus classes and has an artificial grass pitch outside.

Situated in the Cathedral Quarter with easy access. Whether people play regular sport and are looking for competition or whether they have not played sport since school and are looking to get back into it we offer a warm welcome to everyone.

Sports played include indoor cricket, five-a-side football, netball, futsal and dodgeball.

In supporting the Festival of Sport we are putting on four walking football sessions for the over 50s on the following Thursday from 12-1pm – June 21, 28, July 5, July 12, and four back to netball sessions on Sundays from 10-11am - June 17, 24, July 1, 8.

All the sessions are free to encourage participation in sport.
