The Ferrero Group approved the Consolidated Financial Statements as of and for the year ended August 31, 2015 with a turnover of 9.5 billion Euros Ferrero International S.A., parent company of the Ferrero Group, approved the Consolidated Financial Statements of the Group as of and for the year ended August 31, 2015. At that date, the Group was consolidating 78 subsidiaries worldwide, with 22 operating manufacturing plants, of which three operating within the framework of the Social Enterprises. Ferrero products are present directly or through authorised distributors in over 160 countries. The Group, of which Mr. Giovanni Ferrero is the Chief Executive Officer, closed the financial year with a consolidated turnover of 9,542 million Euros, indicating an increase of +13.4% compared to the previous year, which reported a consolidated turnover of 8,412 million Euros. Despite the well-known difficulties in the international scene, this growth reflected exceptional dynamism in the development of new markets: sales of Ferrero products confirmed and, in some cases improved on, the outstanding results achieved in recent years in Asia, Middle East, the United States, Canada, Mexico and Australia. The sales achieved in the some European markets such as the UK, Poland and Germany have been excellent. The main Latin markets (in Europe and South America) showed a good recovery, with the exception of Italy, which remained essentially flat. The Russian market was seriously affected by the rouble's hefty devaluation. In terms of products, “Kinder Joy” (known as “Kinder Merendero” in Italy), Nutella, Ferrero Rocher, Tic Tac and Kinder Surprise achieved particularly positive performances. -

Reproduced verbatim below is the Statement of Grounds filed in relation to registration No 1541166: “1. Registration No 1541166 should be declared invalid under Section 47 of the Trade Marks Act 1994. The applicant requests that the registration is revoked and removed from the register. 2. The trade mark the subject of the registration was invalidly registered in that it did not at the date of the application and does not now comply with the provisions of Section 3(1)(a) of the Act. -

NUTELLA® and the Use of Palm Oil: a Case Study
Journal of Business Cases and Applications Volume 22 NUTELLA® and the use of palm oil: A case study Raymond J Elson Valdosta State University Zulal Denaux Valdosta State University ABSTRACT Ferrrero SpA faced a business and ethical dilemma when its flagship product Nutella®, was linked to potential health issues. Specifically, the European Food Safety Authority or EFSA warned that contaminants in palm oil, Nutella®’s main ingredient, could cause cancer if processed at high temperatures. While some food manufacturers and supermarket chains elected to eliminate palm oil from products, Ferrero SpA selected a different course of action. The case discusses the steps taken by the company to assure consumers that the product was safe for human consumption. The case highlights the challenges faced by multinational organizations that produces and sells a single brand across multiple countries and cultures. Students are asked to evaluate the company’s action plan from an ethical and risk perspective. The case also serves as an experiential learning opportunity since students will be utilizing the Committee on Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework to formulate responses. The main concern was over glycidyl fatty esters (or GE) which forms during food processing or when palm oil is processed at very high temperature (over 393 degrees Fahrenheit or 200 degrees Celsius). -
