Brummies Have Spoken Loudly and Opt for Wispa in Battle of Cadbury
Brummies have spoken loudly and opt for Wispa in battle of Cadbury Heroes at Christmas • Survey finds Wispa is Birmingham’s Hero of Cadbury Heroes • The Hazel Whirl is the Rose of all Roses, with Hazel in Caramel also scoring highly • Almost two-thirds of Birmingham adults believe Christmas isn’t complete without chocolate To mark 20 years since Cadbury’s Heroes hit our store selves and entered our annual Christmas gifting traditions, Mondelēz International, maker of the some of the UK’s best loved brands including Cadbury, Oreo and Maynards Bassets, has revealed the official consumer rankings of Cadbury Heroes and Roses, as decided by the Birmingham public. Mondelēz International worked with YouGov to ask Brits to pick their favourite from a box of Cadbury Heroes and Cadbury Roses, with the results sure to spark a debate. In what many may consider a surprise result, Wispa proved to be Birmingham’s favourite selection from a box of Cadbury Heroes, taking the top spot and a place in the city’s heart (and belly). Despite its place in British and Birmingham culture, the UK’s favourite chocolate1, Cadbury Dairy Milk, had to settle for second place in the official rankings, pushing Cadbury Dairy Milk Caramel in to third place. Eclairs are the last to be eaten and last in the standings, however it’s a close call between all options, including more recent addition additions, Dinky Decker and Creme Egg Twisted. Tastes appear to vary across the country, with the UK as a whole plumping for Crunchie and Twirl as their top Heroes of choice, with Birmingham’s favourite coming in fourth place nationally. -

Sweet Success for Hillsborough Apprentices Two Young Engineering
Sweet success for Hillsborough apprentices Two young engineering technician apprentices have become the first to secure employment at the Mondelēz International sweets and biscuits factory in Hillsborough in more than 30 years. At a celebration event this week, Dawn Woodcock, aged 25 and George Ellis, aged 20 were awarded their NVQ certificates of completion as well as finding out they’ve secured junior technician roles in the factory working on big name brands such as Oreo, Trebor, Maynards and Bassetts. Mondelēz International currently employs more than 70 apprentices across the UK and is recognised in the prestigious Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list compiled annually by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with City & Guilds. This recognises excellence in businesses that employ apprentices. The Sheffield site still employs four apprentices from its original scheme more than 30 years ago, having progressed through different engineering roles. The scheme was closed in 1984, so Dawn and George are the first apprentices to complete their apprenticeship since then. The site will be welcoming a further three apprentices this September. Sheffield apprentices are trained across four years in the highly employable and transferable skills needed for repairing and maintaining equipment in a food manufacturing environment. The apprenticeship starts with a year's practical foundation study at a local training provider to prepare them for their roles in the factory. Once on site, apprentices are trained in a wide range of areas such as advanced maintenance of manufacturing, packing machinery, factory quality, hygiene and safety requirements, whilst also continuing their studies towards NVQ & BTEC qualifications in engineering. -

The Ferrero Group Approved the Consolidated Financial Statements As of and for the Year Ended August 31, 2015 with a Turnover of 9.5 Billion Euros
The Ferrero Group approved the Consolidated Financial Statements as of and for the year ended August 31, 2015 with a turnover of 9.5 billion Euros Ferrero International S.A., parent company of the Ferrero Group, approved the Consolidated Financial Statements of the Group as of and for the year ended August 31, 2015. At that date, the Group was consolidating 78 subsidiaries worldwide, with 22 operating manufacturing plants, of which three operating within the framework of the Social Enterprises. Ferrero products are present directly or through authorised distributors in over 160 countries. The Group, of which Mr. Giovanni Ferrero is the Chief Executive Officer, closed the financial year with a consolidated turnover of 9,542 million Euros, indicating an increase of +13.4% compared to the previous year, which reported a consolidated turnover of 8,412 million Euros. Despite the well-known difficulties in the international scene, this growth reflected exceptional dynamism in the development of new markets: sales of Ferrero products confirmed and, in some cases improved on, the outstanding results achieved in recent years in Asia, Middle East, the United States, Canada, Mexico and Australia. The sales achieved in the some European markets such as the UK, Poland and Germany have been excellent. The main Latin markets (in Europe and South America) showed a good recovery, with the exception of Italy, which remained essentially flat. The Russian market was seriously affected by the rouble's hefty devaluation. In terms of products, “Kinder Joy” (known as “Kinder Merendero” in Italy), Nutella, Ferrero Rocher, Tic Tac and Kinder Surprise achieved particularly positive performances. -
“Trade Marks and Brands”
“TRADE MARKS AND BRANDS ” ( W.I.P.O 11th December 2009 ) The Ferrero Company is rich in history and culture. It is a family business, now in its third generation of management. The characteristic s upon which it was built are still evident today: Italian creativity and product innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and social altruism. Ferrero’s roots are in the Piedmont region in northern Italy in the town of Alba, which is situated at the foot of the Langhe and at the intersection of the Cherasca and Tanaro rivers. Alba has retained its medieval charm throughout the years, even during the occupation of WWII, when it was under the control of the Resistance. A beautiful region with rolling h ills and verdant land, the Langhe is famous for its natural resources that are used to make some of the finest culinary foods: wine vineyards, truffles and hazelnuts. And it is for this reason that hazelnuts form the foundation for most Ferrero products today, because of their abundance, their high quality, delicious taste and fragrance. The Company was officially chartered in 1946 by Pietro Ferrero, a confectioner with vision, entrepreneurial spirit and tenacity. Assisted by his wife, Pi era , and brother, Giovanni (sales and marketing), the triumverate turned a local pastisserie into a strong national business that captured the hearts of all Italians. Ferrero rapi dly expanded in Europe to become the leading European Chocolate Confectio nery producer and the forth worldwide (third after the acquisition of Cadbury by Kraft) . 1 Ferrero’s mission is to reward the consumer with a confectionery experience unlike any other. -
