I have a great interest in developing the sport for all players to enjoy. This is a great opportunity to review processes in place for equity and balance to all levels. My career has taken me through many challenging and great work including human rights, labour relations, and employee relations. With a degree in Human Justice, I have worked with organizations in creating policies and procedures for best practices around fairness and natural justice. I have a vast experience in conflict resolution and people management in many areas and I believe this experience enables me to work on matters that would arise at Ringette Alberta to further grow the sport. With my background in Leadership Development and Mediation, I believe I can bring a lot of experience to problem solve and implement natural justice and fairness to any matters that would challenge to ensure natural justice and a fair process. What will you contribute as a Director of Ringette Alberta? I want to further enhance my knowledge of ringette and become more involved in the sport my daughter loves. I also want to spread the word about how great the sport is to get more involvement. I have an interest in helping in any way to further expand the sport in terms of exposure and gaining interest in the sport. I also enjoy working with individuals in making the sport fun and safe for the players. As a Manager of my daughter’s ringette team for the past five years, I have an understanding of the excitement this sport brings to girls at all levels. I also know the issues that come up with teams and would enjoy working with various groups on handling matters that impact the sport. I will bring fresh ideas to the Board. I enjoy working on problem solving and assisting with the further development of the sport. Kari Colpitts Why do you wish to become a Director of Ringette Alberta? I want to be a part of shaping the future of Ringette in Alberta. Two of my three daughters play ringette and I want to ensure that their experience, along with that of all Ringette Alberta players, is the best it can possibly be. As a ringette coach, I love to watch my team benefit from hard work and commitment. I want to continue to foster an environment that is positive and rewarding for all players. Our ability to attract and retain players is tied directly to their positive experience in the sport. I believe a focus on recruiting and supporting female coaching staff is critical. Not only to provide positive female role models but to demonstrate to young athletes, that ringette is a sport they can remain involved in through out different stages of their lives. I see the need to continue to grow and develop the game at both the grassroots and competitive level by creating growth opportunities for all levels of players and coaches. Skill improvement comes not only from practices and games, but by having goals to work towards. Ringette Alberta has a critical role in providing these opportunities and creating new ones for all levels of competition. What will you contribute as a Director of Ringette Alberta? I am dedicated to advancing and promoting the female athlete; keeping girls in sport and active for life. This is a huge passion of mine. My goal, as a head coach, is to ensure every player wants to continue playing and build the love for the sport. For the last four years, I have been a head coach with the South Calgary Ringette Association. Prior to that, I coached hockey at both a developmental level and for the University of Calgary Dinos. I bring a keen understanding of the challenges facing coaches and areas to support them. As a coach, I strive to be a role model to my team and staff showing passion for the game and respect for parents, officials and opponents. I believe bringing that same attitude to the board fosters the opportunity for growth. While growing up in Calgary, I played on the first all-female team in Calgary Minor Hockey. I was an active part of growing female hockey in Calgary and Alberta to what it is today. I watched my mother volunteer and build girls hockey in this province
