to 8.3 miles

Starting from the Railway Station go down Rise Lane to the main road (A6033) turn Left and follow the road passed the bus station and under the railway arch. Turn right up Road, follow this to the top then cross the railway via the footbridge. Cross the road at this point and look for a stepped footpath leading upwards just after the entrance to The Hollins (cul de sac)

Continue ahead passed Boggart Hall on the right following The Mount which turns into a footpath, follow this path to a break in a wall, turn left up this footpath and follow it right to the top.

Turn left and continue follow the footpath towards East Whirlaw Farm and following the track Whirlaw Lane. Continue upwards around the bottom of Whirlaw Stones, when you reach a gate do not go through it, but turn right and follow the track up the hill, you will now be on the Todmorden Centenary Way. Keep an eye out for the Way markers for this and you shouldn’t go wrong.

Continue to follow the track at the bottom of Windy Harbour Lane you will see a stone carving, a bit scary looking! Continue passed the bottom of the lane into an obvious walled grass track.

As you continue on the track it crosses Greenhurst Hey Clough, normally not a hazard but if wet take care. The track comes out on Upper Lane.

Cross the road and follow round, just around the bend at the side a house you will see a grassed track off to the right of the road, follow this for a very short way and take the track to the left.

Continue to follow the TCW (there is another small beck to cross on this section, this is usually a bit muddy and slippy again take care) until you reach Crossley New Road.

Turn left and walk up to the junction then turn right and continue on the road until you reach Great Rock. You can’t miss it.! Immediately before the rock is a bridleway (part of the Way) turn up here and continue to follow waymarks for the Calderdale Way.

Take care on the descent to Hippins Bridge, a bit of a rocky path and care needed if it is wet.

Once on the road cross the bridge and follow the signs for the Calderdale Way off to the right.

Passing Hippins on your left a 1650 listed building.

Continue to follow the path to Blackshaw Head cross the road and over a stepped stile into a field, follow the obvious paths across the fields until you come to a walled track (Bow Lane), follow this track down to the road.

At the road bear left and then right on to a clearly marked track.

Follow this until you reach the stepped path down to Hebble Hole.

Again take care and descend to Hebble Hole lovely spot for a picnic if the weather is fine.

Cross the stone Clapper bridge and follow the path to the right, don’t be sidetracked into following the path. Just keep going following the woods.

You should now spot new waymark signs for the Hebden Bridge Loop of the Pennine Way you now follow this path to Hebden Bridge.

When you reach follow the main road down through the village and follow it round passed the Post Office, continue along this residential street, looking for the loop waymarks on telegraph poles.

You are now heading to Hell Hole, a disused quarry, again take care descending the first part of this path.

Follow the path downhill towards Hebden Bridge, when you reach the road cross over and turn right, look for a gap in the wall and a cobbled/stepped path (Cuckoo Steps) which takes you down to the town. Turn left at the bottom and walk towards the centre of Hebden Bridge. Lots of Cafes and ’m sure you’ll welcome a nice cuppa or something stronger.
