'Bif Naked' to Headline Battlefords Bridgefest For Immediate Release June 10th, 2011 ‘Bif Naked’ To Headline Battlefords BridgeFest She has toured Canada, the United States and Europe as a headlining act and has performed with Snoop Dog, Billy Idol, Dido, Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, The Cult and The Foo Fighters. The Battlefords BridgeFest Entertainment Committee is very excited to announce the Juno Award winning Bif Naked will headline on the main stage during the third annual celebration on Saturday, August 27th, 2011! Bif Naked is Indian born American-Canadian multi-platinum rock singer who’s discography includes the self titled Bif Naked (1995), Okenspay Ordway: Things I Forgot To Tell Mommy (spoken word album 1997), I Bificus (CRIA – Platinum 1998), Purge (CRIA – Gold 2001), Superbeautifulmonster (2005) and The Promise (2009). The BridgeFest Entertainment Committee is also proud to bring The Sheepdogs and Chad Klinger as the opening performances for Bif Naked on the main stage. The Sheepdogs are a Saskatoon based rock band who focus on the importance of the elements that make for great rock music: melody, harmony and groove. They have toured coast to coast throughout Canada and the United States and have made the final two of Rolling Stone Magazine’s “Choose The Cover” contest. To fit the country music bill, the Bridgefest Entertainment Committee has also booked Chad Klinger for the main stage. Klinger is originally from Lashburn, Saskatchewan and has made his mark in country music throughout North America. He recorded his self-titled debut CD in Nashville in 1998. Two singles released from that project, “Who Needs the Moon” and “Bring it On” reached the Top 30 of the RPM Country Tracks chart. Klinger’s second album, The Man I Am Inside, was released in 2010. The BridgeFest main stage has a solid line-up throughout the day including Jackwagon, Jay Dee Hypnotist, Charles Zielke, Perfect Punchline and the winner of the Battle Inn the ‘Fords Battle of the Bands Competition (to be held during North West Territorial Days in August). I was doing the Run for the Cure in Kelowna with my friends and colleagues from UBCrsquo;s Okanagan campus. It was two and a half years since my best friend and sister-in-law had died from breast cancer. I had helped my children write Auntie Nan on their ldquo;Irsquo;m Running For hellip;rdquo; signs that were pinned to the back of our t-shirts.

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR This year has been filled with significant change and considerable accomplishments, culminating with the launch of our new program and application system FACTOR 2.0 in April 2013. The goal of FACTOR 2.0 was simple: design a system and programs that award funding based on merit, are transparent and easy to use, and reflect the current business models of the Canadian independent music industry. This type of change was long overdue, as FACTOR’s previous funding model was based heavily on out-of-date business practices, which focused primarily on the physical sale of recorded music.

Page 2 Colby Free Press Monday, February 27, 2006 Opinion Free Press Viewpoint Where’s America? What has not been talked about related to an Arab company owning six major American ports has nothing to do with the threat of incoming terrorists. What needs to be addressed is it is yet another form of American com- merce in the hands of somebody outside the country. Critics of the recent proposed acquisition of the ports are blaming the Bush administration the ports will be the gate terrorists will easily walk through to get to the United States. The Bush administration quickly de- nied those accusations and Bush, again, emphasized the American people will be safe and secure. The United Arab Emirates company is reviewing the entire proposal before signing on the dotted line. If and when approved, the Arab company will purchase the ports from a British company. Where has been the American interest in the ports? Why can’t an American company own those ports? Do they want to or are they too busy merging with other companies? The growing number of things produced outside the States but sold here is staggering. Now, we will continue to have foreign-made products ar- riving in America at still foreign-owned ports. It’s disturbing. Look around your place of work or home and try and find things that are made in America. Bush has been plagued since his first term of many American compa- nies loading moving trucks and relocating jobs to Mexico, China and India. American workers then head for the unemployment line.
