The venue was recently used for a lunch time demonstration of archery during a Test Match with a resultant TV spectator audience of over 700,000 viewers and a "Touch Archery" area for schoolchildren. "Once again, Archery will use a relatively low Olympic cost venue to promote its sport at the same time generating interest from a well known venue. The venue is well suited to the sport with the use of the newly renovated member's stand and a relatively small amount of temporary seating to create the effect we need" said Dr. Ugur Erdener, the newly elected President of FITA. The governing body of archery in Great Britain, GNAS, was one of the founding members of FITA. The history of the sport is linked with Great Britain being one of the first countries where archery sport competitions were held in the middle ages.
