World Archery Americas Mayo Confederación Panamericana de Tiro con Arco Boletín Mensual / Monthly Bulletin Mayo – Junio / May - June 2019 ________________________________ Hemos tenido una intensa temporada de tiro con arco internacional en los últimos cuarenta y cinco días. Dos campeonatos mundiales, la tercera etapa de la Copa Mundial Hyundai, el Congreso de World Archery y el Tercer Campeonato de Desarrollo del Caribe han sido algunos de los más recientes acontecimientos luego de la publicación de nuestro boletín anterior. Ahora se nos aproxima un evento de suma relevancia. Los Juegos Panamericanos comenzarán muy pronto en Lima, y el tiro con arco estará presente del 7 al 11 de agosto, con el incentivo adicional de que otorgaremos cuatro cupos para los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio. World Archery ha otorgado a América la sede de tres eventos muy importantes que tendrán lugar en los próximos años: la primera etapa de la Copa Mundial Hyundai en Guatemala 2020, y los Campeonatos Mundiales de Campo (2020) y Aire Libre (2021) en la ciudad de Yankton, en Estados Unidos. Esperamos una gran participación de nuestras federaciones nacionales en estos torneos. We have had a very intense archery season in the last forty-five days. Two world championships, the third stage of the Hyundai World Cup, the World Archery Congress and the III Caribbean Development Championships have been some of the highlights since our previous bulletin. A major event is fast approaching. The Pan American Games will start very soon in Lima, with archery running from August 7 to the 11th. Four Olympic Qualification positions are up for grabs there. 1 World Archery allocated some important events to a take place in the Americas in the coming years. The First Stage of the Hyundai World Cup will be held in Guatemala in April 2020, while Yankton, USA will host the Field World Championships in 2020 and the Target World Championships in 2021. We expect a large participation of archers from our continent in these three major tournaments. María Emma GAVIRIA President Congreso de World Archery / World Archery Congress El 53 Congreso de World Archery se celebró en ‘s Hertogenbosch, Holanda los días 1 y 2 de junio con delegados de 85 países, incluyendo 15 del continente americano. 2 Decisiones importantes El Congreso aprobó varias mociones, incluyendo un sistema de reglas para perfeccionar la gobernabilidad en World Archery. Estas disposiciones incluyen la limitación del período en que se pueden ocupar puestos en el Buró Ejecutivo y en los Comités Permanentes. Mr. SWANSON fue nombrado Presidente. 3 Comité de Entrenadores LEE Kisik (USA) resultó electo y fue nombrado Presidente. Comité de Jueces Sergio FONT (CUB) resultó electo y fue nombrado Presidente. Comité de Campo y 3D Tyler MOORE (CAN) resultó electo. Comité de Constitución y Reglas Mark MILLER (USA) resultó electo y fue nombrado Presidente. Alexandre VECCHIO PASSERINI (BRA) fue electo y nombrado Vice- Presidente. Comité de Para Arquería Eric BENNETT (USA) fue electo como representante de los para-atletas en el Comité. Comité de Atletas Crystal GAUVIN (USA) y Reo WILDE (USA) fueron electos (no por el Congreso, sino por los arqueros participantes en el Campeonato Mundial). The 53rd World Archery Congress was held in ‘s Hertogenbosch, Netherlands on June 1- 2, with delegates from 85 countries, including fifteen from the Americas. Delegates from Brazil and Canada, carrying the proxy votes of Peru and El Salvador, respectively Major decisions Several motions were passed by Congress, including a new set of rules to further improve governance within World Archery. These rules include limiting the number of terms in office in the Executive Board and in Permanente Committees. Barebow was accepted as a new event in target archery. Barebow competitions will be shot at 50 meters over 122 cm target faces. The set system will be used for barebow match play. 4 A motion on the disappearance of the World Indoor Championships, which had been tabled at the 2017 Congress in Mexico, was addressed again. Congress decided that these World Championships will not be held anymore. Elected officers Elections were held for different positions, including several permanent committees. The following candidates from the Americas were elected by Congress. Board of Justice and Ethics Marty SWANSON (USA) and Guillermina GARCIA (MEX) were elected. Mr. SWANSON was appointed Chairman. Marty Swanson (USA) was appointed chairman of the Board of Justice and Ethics Coaches’ Committee LEE Kisik (USA) was elected and appointed Chairman Judges’ Committee Sergio FONT (CUB) was elected and appointed Chairman Field and 3D Committee Tyler MOORE (CAN) was elected. Constitution & Rules Committee Mark MILLER (USA) was elected and appointed Chairman. Alexandre VECCHIO PASSERINI (BRA) was elected and appointed Deputy Chairman. Para Archery Committee Eric BENNETT (USA) was elected as Para Athlete Representative to the Committee. 5 Athletes’ Committee Crystal GAUVIN (USA) and Reo WILDE (USA) were elected (not by Congress, but by the archers at the World Championships). Berlin, Germany, was awarded the 2023 World Archery Championships, and Plzen, Czech Republic, the 2023 World Archery Para Championships. Paris, France (2021-2023), Shanghai, China (2020-2024), and Guatemala (2020) have been named as stages of the 6 Hyundai Archery World Cup. The 2021 World Archery 3D Championships have been awarded to Terni, Italy. In addition to these decisions made by the Board, it was announced at Congress that Yankton, USA, will organize the 2020 World Field Championships and the 2021 World Archery Championships. Yankton, USA Copa Mundial Hyundai en Antalya / Hyundai World Cup in Antalya La tercera etapa de la Copa Mundial Hyundai se celebró en Antalya, Turquía, del 20 al 26 de mayo. Participaron 371 arqueros de 51 países, incluyendo 51 deportistas de ocho naciones de América: Brasil, Canadá, Chile, Colombia, México, Puerto Rico, Trinidad y Tobago, y los Estados Unidos. Los Estados Unidos ganaron tres medallas de oro por intermedio de Brady ELLISON (Recurvo Masculino), James LUTZ (Compuesto Masculino), y el equipo femenino de compuesto. VALENCIA finalizó cuarta en el torneo individual, al igual que el colombiano Daniel MUÑOZ (Compuesto Masculino). La última etapa de la Copa Mundial tendrá lugar en Berlín, del 1 al 7 de julio. América estará representada en este evento por arqueros de Canadá, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Trinidad y Tobago y los Estados Unidos. The third stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup was held in Antalya, Turkey on May 20-26. 371 archers from 51 countries were present, including 51 participants from eight countries in the Americas: Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United States. The United States won three gold medals by means of Brady ELLISON (RM), James LUTZ (CM) and their Compound Women Team. They collected two silver medals with Kris SCHAFF (CM) and Alexis RUIZ (CW), and one bronze with their Recurve Men Team. LUTZ and RUIZ secured positions in the Hyundai World Cup Finals which will take place in Moscow on Sept. 5-6. Mexico’s Alejandra VALENCIA, Aida ROMAN and Mariana AVITIA delivered a very outstanding performance to win the silver medal in the Recurve Women Team event in a match versus the squad of Chinese Taipei. VALENCIA finished fourth in the individual event, and so did Colombia’s Daniel MUÑOZ (CM). The last stage of the Hyundai World Cup will take place in Berlin, on July 1-7.     Confederación Panamericana de Tiro con Arco Boletín Mensual 61/ 61st Monthly Bulletin Abril-Mayo 2021/April-May 2021 ________________________________ En abril y mayo se celebraron varios eventos importantes, incluyendo dos etapas de la Copa Mundial Hyundai y el clasificatorio para los Juegos Panamericanos Junior. Guatemala realizó una labor fantástica en la organización de la primera parada de la Copa Mundial en abril. Felicitaciones a los organizadores por el arduo trabajo. El Clasificatorio para Cali se llevó a cabo de manera exitosa en Medellín. Dieciocho países estarán representados en los Juegos, ocho de ellos con participación en las cuatro categorías individuales. Inmediatamente después de concluir el clasificatorio, se desarrolló en Medellín un campamento de entrenamiento con arqueros juveniles con vistas a Cali. Estamos satisfechos con la calidad del proceso y con el avance en el rendimiento técnico y la preparación mental alcanzado por muchos de los arqueros bajo la guía de los tres expertos que condujeron las sesiones de entrenamiento. Nuestro más sincero agradecimiento a Pan Am Sports por su aporte decisivo a esta actividad de desarrollo. En estos tres eventos nuestros deportistas lograron subir al podio. Los Juegos Panamericanos dieron inicio en Lima el día 26. Nuestro deporte comienza sus actividades el 7 de agosto y concluye el día 11 en la misma fecha en que se clausuran los Juegos. El 25 de julio representé a World Archery Americas en la Asamblea General de Pan Am Sports, encuentro en que se abordaron temas de gran importancia para el desarrollo del deporte en nuestro continente. A muchos de nuestros presidentes de federaciones los estaré viendo muy pronto en nuestra Asamblea General el día 5 de agosto, y luego durante nuestro torneo en Lima. Estoy segura de que tendremos un hermoso evento y que todos nuestros arqueros disfrutarán de la competencia y de los Juegos en general. July has come to its end after having hosted several very important events: the fourth and last stage of the Hyundai World Cup, the Universiade in Italy and the Tokyo Olympic Games Test Event. Our archers managed to stand on the podium at the three of them. The Pan American Games were beautifully opened on July 26. Archery will be contested starting on the 7th and finishing on the 11th, just on the same day the Games will come to their end. I represented World Archery Americas at the Pan Am Sports General Assembly on July 25.
