North Lanarkshire Council is the fourth largest unitary authority in Scotland. The Council has its Headquarters in Motherwell and the Council area includes the main townships of Airdrie, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Cumbemauld, Kilsyth, Motherwell, Shotts and Wishaw. The Planning and Environment HQ is located in Cumbemauld.
The Council is seeking applications for the post of Head of Protective Services. Reporting to the Director of Planning and Environment, you will be responsible for the management of Environmental Health, Food Safety and Pollution Control as well as Consumer Protection and Trading Standards. You will be a key member of the Planning and Environment Management Team and will play a significant role in developing and implementing the Council’s policies.
Educated to degree level and holding a relevant professional qualification, you will have a minimum of 7 years post qualifying experience with 3 years at 2nd tier or above or 5 years at 2nd/3rd tier in local government or related organisations. You will have substantial experience at a strategic level in one or more of the disciplines in the Protective Services Division. You will have a sound working knowledge of protective services functions together with strong leadership qualities and an ability to manage and motivate the workforce.
