SCHOOL REGISTRATION
A student in Cabarrus County Schools is assigned to the elementary, middle, or high school serving the attendance area in which the student's parent(s) or court-appointed guardian/custodian lives. Information on Attendance Locator can be obtained by using the attendance locator or contacting staff at the CCS Transportation Office at 704-782-6314.
Parents/Legal Guardians of students new to a school in the district are asked to bring the following to their assigned school to begin the enrollment process:
Photo Identification of Parent/Legal Guardian (sources may include NCDL or ID, Matricula Consular, Work Authorization Card, Border Crossing Card, Permanent Resident Card, Passport, Visitor's Visa)
Proof of Domicile - (Two (2) sources - One (1) from each source)
Source 1: Deed, lease, or property tax statement showing the property is owned or rented by you and is within the school's boundary
Source 2: Current driver's license, motor vehicle registration with correct address or current statement (e.g. bank statement, utility bill or Medicaid card) with correct address.
Child's Birth Certificate with Parent Name(s)Child's Immunization Records (Students who do not have this medical information completed 30 days following the start of school will not be allowed to attend until the requirements are met)
In compliance with Federal Law, Cabarrus County Schools administers all education programs, employment activities and admissions without discrimination against any person on the basis of gender, race, color, religion, national origin, age or disability.
North Carolina law requires children entering school for the first time to show proof of immunizations against polio, rubella, diphtheria, and whooping cough as well as results of sight and hearing tests. Children entering the first grade must be six years of age on or before September 1 of that school year. Children entering second grade or higher should present the most recent report card or transcript for registration.
When registering for kindergarten, you will need the following documents:
Photo ID of Parent/Legal Guardian Child's Birth Certificate with Parent name(s) Child's Immunization Record Proof of Domicile (2 required, see above) Kindergarten Health Assessment and Immunizations: This is required by North Carolina Statute. Students who do not have this completed after 30 days following the start of school will not be allowed to attend until the requirements are met. All schools and local physicians are aware of the requirements and have the proper forms that are needed for documentation.
In addition to the immunization requirements, a new NC State Law (Senate Bill 293) requires a child who is entering kindergarten to receive a health assessment. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to secure the health assessment for the child from a private doctor or the local health department.
The health assessment results must be submitted on the KINDERGARTEN HEALTH ASSESSMENT REPORT form to the child’s principal. Forms are available through the health provider or the child’s school
“The Kindergarten Health Assessment” is a public health laws which was enacted to ensure that each child entering kindergarten has a healthy beginning and that school personnel are alter to any related needs of the child that may affect his/her school performance.
