China Shop Bull Play a Lively 7 Piece Mix of Ska Rave and Drum and Bass, Recently Releasing a Debut Album ‘Rave to the Grave’ China Shop Bull play a lively 7 piece mix of ska rave and drum and bass, recently releasing a debut album ‘Rave To The Grave’. They have been on the festival, punk and party scene since 2006, playing around the UK and Europe with acts as diverse as Dreadzone, The Dub Pistols, Sonic Boom Six, Inner Terrestrials, The Skints, Pama International, Goldie Lookin Chain, Eat Static, Voodoo Glowskulls, Subsource and many more. Building a fast growing following with their infectious sound and lively shows, China Shop Bull have previously been invited to festivals such as Boomtown Fair, Kendal Calling, Moorfest, Rebellion, Beats Not Bombs, Alchemy, Workhouse, Limetree, Waveform, Squarefest, and Solfest to name but a few. "Street punk, toasting, trombones, trumpets and slices of Dub War franticness, Asian Dub Foundation street suss. Prodigy dance and bounce in there with the spongy dub and all the hyper council-estate-exploding confrontation." - Organ Magazine. "It's surprising how quickly this band can go from attempting to force a crack pipe through your ear canal, to chilled-out intelligent dub ska instrumental, and back again." - http://happyskanking.blogspot.com Just when it's got you by the balls and you wonder if the rhymes could get any quicker of the bass line any heavier than the fat bastard that it is - it all stops dead...and you think... "THATS FUCKING BRILLIANT!" If this band cannot make you dance then you, sunshine, don't deserve to have any feet." - The Rhubarb Bomb "Intense throughout and yet totally enjoyable from start to finish - an amazing mix that makes the listener sit up and take note - finally a ska band that doesn't succeed in proving the cliché's right! Genius!" - www.subba-culcha.com Live Reviews "I can imagine this band lifting the atmosphere of a tea party into a rave.... There isn't much else to say about this band, just go and see them, now." - Leedsmusicscene "CHINA SHOP BULL rocked everyone's socks" - Northern Echo "If you havent seen em then you flipping well should" - No-Title magazine.

PRESS CLIPPINGS "Sonic Boom Six pack an entire festival's worth of genres into their set. By taking ska, pop, grime, dubstep, punk and metal apart, then rebuilding them as a hyperactive hybrid they certainly grab attention. With the English Defence League on the streets and David Cameron making curious comments about multiculturalism, the positive energy rush these Manc street preachers inspire isn't just Day-Glo fun, but also a necessary reminder to tear down the walls of prejudice." - Ashley Maile, Kerrang! (Apr 06, 2011) "Sharp of mind and socially-conscious, there's nothing about Sonic Boom Six that doesn't come from the heart. Their shiny punk reggae hip-hop sound addresses real issues with a more productive vibe than these riot-strewn streets have seen recently, and tonight, they're on fire" - Steve Beebee, Kerrang! (Jan 12, 2011) "Be it on a festival stage or down your local boozer, there isn't really a bad place to catch Sonic Boom Six whose compelling mash-up of street-punk, reggae and ska could lighten up any dark corner." - Reel Big Fish Live Review, Kerrang! (Jan 25, 2010) "They’re one of the most truly stimulating live bands ever to whip an apathetic crowd into devotion, and their grassroots army of support stands testament to that. What’s more, their billing is a victory and inspiration for everyone who writes songs with their mates and dreams of something better" - Ben Patashnik, NME, Going Underground (Aug 22, 2009) "It's taken a while but Sonic Boom Six are rocketing out of the underground - a hefty shot of ska-punk, hip-hop, reggae and even jungle in the mix, not to mention big, sinuous rock dynamics and hooks." - Tick, Tick, Boom!, Kerrang! (May 30, 2009) "It might have taken until their third album for SB6 to break the UK underground's glass- ceiling, but their massive grassroots following practically guarantees success for City of Thieves.

The main purpose of the visit was to attend the Mojo Music Magazine Awards Ceremony on 16th June where Irma collected her ‘Legend’ award. We also asked Irma about New Orleans now and her own plans for the future. Well, as has been reported elsewhere, her Club – ‘The Lion’s Den’, wrecked by Katrina has gone for good and she has no intention of opening another. However, she was positive about the City’s future, whilst acknowledging that some ‘refugees’ would never return. I did get a telling-off when I commented on the lack of black faces on the Thursday and Friday of the second © Paul Harris weekend of this year’s JazzFest: ‘Well, they’ll have been working!’ She doesn’t suffer fools (like me) gladly, but apart However, Irma also took the opportunity from that, Irma received us with grace to promote her forthcoming album and charm, and looked as radiant and ‘Simply Grand’ scheduled for August stunning as ever – truly a glam’ granny release.

They spent their first year and a half changing band members whilst perfecting their sound. They settled on the current line-up in May 2007. By the summer of 2008 when they toured with ClayPigeon the band had released their debut 6-track E.P. on Do The Dog Records. Two months later The Skints were offered their first ever major tour, as main support to The King Blues on their second album tour. The tour was extremely successful and allowed them to start making a name for themselves in the UK underground punk scene as well as form firm friendships with members of The King Blues.
