The festival was in dire straits last year when it lost its license to perform 6 days before it was due to start, but managed to heave the entire operation from Cornwall to Kent and still put on one of the best events of last summer. This gives some idea of the potential for BBL; this year almost twice as many tickets will be sold for the 4-day event, and the festival organiz- ers have secured a stretch of South coastline in which to unpack the Marshalls. BBL prides itself on being about more than just the music (although big bands can be expected), with much emphasis being put on the availability of alternative things to do; this year there will even be a dry ski-slope (per- haps inadvisable in shorts).
