We would highly appreciate if you correctly attribute to Ukraine the publications produced by scientists based in Sevastopol, Simferopol, Kerch, Yalta, Nikita, Feodosia, Nauchny, Simeiz, Yevpatoria, Saki, and other cities and towns of the Crimean region, Donetsk, and Luhansk, in particular the Crimean Laser Observatory of the Main Astronomical Observatory, the Marine Institute of Hydrophysics, the Crimean Nature Reserve, the Karadag Nature Reserve, the O.O.Kovalevsky Institute of Biology of the Southern Seas, the Donetsk O.O.Galkin Institute of Physics and Engineering, and others. In those cases when Crimean or Donbas authors, for fear of repressions, provide for communication reasons their current addresses as Russia or Russian Federation, the editorial disclaimer has to be made indicating the real status of Crimea and Donbas as a constituent and integral part of Ukraine, with proper reference to the relevant international documents adopted by the UN and/or other bodies. A checklist of alien species with their taxonomy, synonymy and with a complete bibliography of their first records is presented. Analysis of the main trends of alien species introduction, present ecological status, origin and pathways is considered. The article analyzes the degree of study of the genetic features of Holocene soils of beligerative complexes. A detailed description of natural and anthropogenic conditions and factors determining the geography, genesis and ecological condition of modern and buried soils of beligerative structures of Kamianets-Podilskyi Fortress is given. Considerable attention is paid to the problem of ontogenesis of the dominant natural and anthropogenic soils within the study area, represented by urborendzins and constructional soils. The morphogenetic features of these soils have been studied. The soils of the beligerative complex are represented by naturally anthropogenic soils – urborendzins and constructional soils. They are polygenetic with complex phylogeny and their genesis includes at least two onogenesis. For a long time soils have been evolving naturally in form of typical rendzin, but have undergone quantitative and qualitative changes due to intensive anthropogenic activity. The genetic profile of soils is characterized by significant variability of morphological traits, the presence of eluvium of soil- forming rocks in the entire soil layer. the studied Holocene soils (modern and buried) are an integral part of the historical and cultural lands and need protection, as they contain information about the evolution of the territory and ways of its use. -

Hibernacula of Barbastella Barbastellus in Ukraine: Distribution and Some Ecological Aspects

Com Abstract. The paper presents a study regarding the winter aggregations of the barbastelle bat (Barbastella barbastellus) in western Ukraine, based on data collected in natural underground spaces and artificial structures (abandoned mines, ancient monuments, military fortifications, etc.). Some parameters including the size and dynamics of winter aggregations, as well as microclimate conditions of hibernacula were investigated. The most numerous barbastelle hibernaculum has been found in the Tarakaniv fortress (Rivne region); the largest aggregation of the species consisted of ca. 950 individuals. The numbers of barbastelles in Ukraine seem stable or even increasing. In Central Europe the species is not threatened as seriously as it is in Western Europe. Its range stretches from the northern Morocco to Iran and from southern Scandinavia and Latvia to Greece (Wołoszyn & Bashta 2009). In Ukraine, the barbastelle is found from the western borders to the Dnieper river. The majority of records come from the western part of Ukraine and the Crimean Mts. Abstract The article discusses the monitoring of horizontal displacements of the channel of Dniester, the second largest river in Ukraine, based on topographic maps, satellite images, as well as geological, soil and quaternary sediment maps. Data pro- cessing has been carried out using the geographic information system ArcGIS. The monitoring over a 140-year period (1874– 2015) has been performed at the river’s transition from a mountainous to plain terrain on the 67 km section of the river. During this period, maximum displacements in the study area were 590–620 m. The research examines water protection zones needed for channel displacements. -
